The music sounds as great now as it did then. I handed the single "Fried Egg" to John Peel (RIP) of the BBC in 1979 - he played the single the very next week. Love also to Julien H and all friends of the Mad from 1979 who hung out in East Greenwich Village. I loved those days.....I wish you all well.
Mark here - I came from England in 1979 and got you a gig at Hurrahs on W 72nd Street - Jim Fourat (probably spelt wrong) was the manager there. Those were great days. Dave ID and Hisashi RIP. What happened to Danny Ipana/Zelonki and Johnny 19? Screaming Mad George - I believe you are doing what you always loved best - special effects: now in Hollywood, is that right? Geoff (my cousin) told me The Mad videos were on Youtube. He sends his best wishes.
The drummer in the video is Dave ID but the actual drummer is the Japanbese guy whose name is credited on two of the Mad's best songs - I hate Music & Eyeball - as well as on I Wanna be a Devil (Sorry but I can't remember his name except he had a long last name). One listen to the band's compilation album "I Love Noize," and you'll realize how good thias guy is! Ther bulk of the songs on the album, including live at the CBGB's, have this guy playing the drums, and he sounds simply awesome.
The band was then Sreaming Mad George and Disgusting. I remember George had a loft across from CBGB's. I think he later went on to do special EFX for movies.
the first band I ever worked for when I was in HS. Jeff Miller was the drummer and a big guy named Teddy from Queens was the guitar player. He used to wear a big eyeball on his head. Long live Miss Vegamatic.
This is Michael(Jesus Christ-Guitar) I met George through Chief(Max's booker) We met at Cherry Hills<did you ride in the truck with us?)
The Mad became Irrational in 81 as a blend of my prog band and Georges(Hsashi and Hiroshi). It ended in mid 84 The '93 videos are exactly what Irration was but with a larger budget...
That sounds vaguely familar. I don't know why I was there, but yes, I believe I met you then. I am sure that this video is from '78, judging from my clothes, my weight, and that Johnny 19 is playing sax.
The Mad opened a three or four band show in Cherry Hills that included The Cramps..for some reason you were in NYC visiting George that day-I think you were still playing with them...
Not 1980, probably 1978 or 79 at the latest... i spent 5 years in various incarnations with George beginning in late 79..this was the band before I was involved...
