@Dan5819 Let me explain it this way. SS has IOU's (IOU is Bond) from the Federal Government (FG) for about 2.6 trillion $ this is same as the federal also owes Chine one trillion $. The FG has spent all the money that has gone into SS for other programs. Now the FG is out of money and has max out their CC. If they don't get the debt limit raised they can not pays SS.

@Dan5819 They probably have enough to pay SS for August but if they don't raised the debt limit there is defiantly NOT enough money to pay SS for Sept. Anyone who tells you there is on some mythical Trust Fund is either ignorant or lying though their teen and don't want you to find out the truth!! Another 5 or 10 years the FG will be so broke that it will not able to barrow enough money to pay the interest on the debt and will not have any money to pay SS.

I'm right wing. Stop the waste and stupid-spending first. Then close tax loopholes. Then, if the US must have new revenue, get millionaires off government benefits of any kind: farm subsidies, VA, Social Security, Medicare, green energy......then we'll talk about a national sales tax to get some money from crooks/illegals.........then talk about raising taxes after those things have been taken care of.
