The racist comments here against immigrants are inflammatory and ignorant. Immigrant labor is valuable to CA and the risks those laborers already face enormous hardships and prejudice. My fellow AOLers...please learn some history and get a grip. The United States is made up of immigrants and every 1st generation suffers this sort of persecution and hate. Hate destroys a society. This fire is about gas lines....not "illegals".

@NaliniL Yes the racist comments are unnecessary but you will notice, however, that they were referring to ILLEGAL immigrants. There are many first generation LEGAL immigrants who are well respected in California communities.

Regardless the cause, my thoughts are with the victims.

These natural gas pipelines break all the time, but it's rare that one goes off inside a residential neighborhood and kills a bunch of people.

When I was growing up we had a strong ordor of gas all through the day. My parents called the fire department..turned out a leak in the next house. This is awful. I read that people are saying they smelled gas for a while. If you do, call your local fire department....
