Watching these vids takes me back ah the 90's no twitter no facebook no youtube, no Bush but alot of shit funny how radiohead are still around and many of their less diverse competitors have faded away into obscurity
Palo Alto works so well playing over those Japanese tv messages. The dog marching across the screen with the "SAFE" sign is so hilarious. And I thought censorship was bad in the west.
@maddhattertime The way that this "documentary" has been made is to subjectively recreate the feeling the band was going through when they were on tour during late 90s. I was expecting a more revealing doco about the band too, but I'm surprisingly digging this so far. I'm sure there are more straight-up Radiohead docos out there.
@Neonman78 I'm sure there are normal docs on RH, but how many of them had the opportunity to tour WITH the band right after the creation of one of their best albums ever? This man utterly WASTED a once in a lifetime opportunity with his moronic pretensions to abstract bullshit-ism or whatever. I hope he steps on a particularly rusty tack.
I love Radiohead, I listen to them fanatically. At the same time I have worked 14 hour days at jobs I have hated for shitty pay so I feel somewhat apathetic towards their "plight."
@lakermech lol i read in a radiohead interview where they said they wanted gee to put in some of the lighter moments on the tour because it wasn't all doom and gloom but he wouldn't do it.
the problem with this whole bizarre acceptance speech is that the band weren't supposed to know they were getting the NME award and yet they are asked to film an acceptance speech way in advance, so its just an odd situation and they are tired of the press thing by this stage of the tour.
amazing, he said have way through, he said um, i can't do the accent but he said "so uhh does thom york think the life sucks?" something like that. these guys have always hated divulging personal information to the press about their relationship with one another.
palo alto is one of my faorite songs by them, I WISH THEY WOULD PLAY IT LIVE!!!!! (for those of you who dont know, its the song at the beginning of this clip)
That's to remind everyone that Radiohead are really kick-ass musicians. They're not being abused like this for no reason. In a way their talent traps them.
YOU BOTH LOOK REMARKABLY HEALTY!

I hate the director's pretentiousness! All those faux-arty clips and collages and noise. Ugh. A straight up documentary would have been better

@maddhattertime Then it wouldn't be a 'RADIOHEAD' documentary - just an average run-of-the-mill documentary.

damn it's so weird the audience laughed, it was obvious he was upset, he wasn't just being a "rock star" about it and messing up on purpose. :/
thebarefootexec 2 years ago 3
Just watching that NME video they did, god, I can barely fathom the stress they endured during the world tour.
Not only do I see OK Computer in a new light, but I also appreciate Kid A a lot more as a response to Thom's near breakdown stage.

Which part of the documentary is there Jonny talking to some guy on the phone? i can't remember what part it was. any ideas?

I don't think the NME awards audience realized Thom's frustration to it's full extent. It truly isn't funny at all.
