  • The Karen's folk religion has been referred to as "General Revelation" it is another aspect of religion of the Bible but is older than either Judaisn/Christianity, but excisted in various cultures into the 19th even 20th century. Judaism/Christianity are "Specific Revelation" Examples of General Revelation are found throughout the Bible. The book-Eternity In Their Hearts by Don Richardson Regal Books 1981 revised 1984. Don Richardson was a missionary to the Asmut people in New Guinea.

  • Many Karen 200 years ago had a folk religion that was monotheistic, had no images or idols&their leader was like a high priest in Judaism in which he would offer an animal sacrifice for the sins of the people like the high priest did in Judaism. They also knew that a book-the Bible would come to them one day. When Christian missionaries reached Burma in the early 19th century, a Christian revival broke out amoung the Karen, they saw the Bible as the book for them

  • Christianity and Buddhism are state religions, and seek to destroy native spirituality. That is part of the problem.

  • I hope the western christian evangelists would not used the pitiful Karen people for their own religious agenda to fight against other Buddhists or non christians people..the Karen people must also be wary that these christian missionaries are just using the Karen people to spread the christian religions just like they do to North Korean refugees..

    this is not genuine..

  • very sad picture

  • I'll add my prayers for these beautiful people as well. Just wish all this fighting around the globe would cease and everyone could live in peace.

  • i work with Karen refugees from Burma (the Thai refugee camp Mae La more specifically). 1 little boy in kindergarden (we believe he's actually 4 instead of 6) actually saw his parents get murdered. The middle school kids know how to put together and take apart AK-47s and most had to hide in the woods with no food for days at a time. Their situation is horrendous.

  • I also work with Karen orphans in Myanmar. I was told it is impossible to adopt these kids. How did your friends manage to give him a home? Thanks

  • @tiny1treasures .....they fled with him through the mountains to the camp. Not sure how they did it,,,but hes alive and so are they! doesnt really matter how....this was in Thailand not Burma.

  • @SKPrincess69 That was a bit blunt... I was trying to ask a sensible question but clearly you don't want to give me a sensible answer. Its amazing that that little boy now has a home! But I was actually asking how it is possible. I have asked many people who have said many of them are unable to get a passport or any form of documentation as to their existence and therefore are not able to be formally adopted. This is something I would love to do and so was asking....
