Peaceful assembly means that when violence breaks out, you get the F out of there. If you are still there 10 minutes after violence breaks out, then it can be assumed that you have no issue with the violence. You forget that the police have wives and kids to go home to and will do what is necessary to ensure that they get home to them.

In addition, everyone has a video camera on their phone and our major towns and cities are covered by CCTV. These protests NEVER do anything more than raise awareness and majority of times become violent. The police sign up to help people, that includes the people whose property is at risk by violent protestors. There are better ways and fighting the police is not one of them.

@Dizzyruptor - Here in the UK, everyone is innocent until proven guilty (beyond reasonable doubt), so yes, you would need irrefutable evidence for any case against the police or a criminal. Again, here in the UK, if you are in a position of trust and break the law, you are dealt with more severely than if you are a common criminal (unless you're a politician) no slap on wrist. I accept that every country is different, with corruption at different levels but generally speaking, if you have dealings with police, you probably did something to bring them there. The vast majority of people have no interaction with police whatsoever. It's the police that keep my area safe. Not activists or protesters, not Youtube critics, but the police.

@Thrashaero Here in the UK, any police officer found to be acting outside of the law, faces jail. In addition, everyone has a video camera on their phone and our major towns and cities are covered by CCTV. These protests NEVER do anything more than raise awareness and majority of times become violent. The police sign up to help people, that includes the people whose property is at risk by violent protestors. There are better ways and fighting the police is not one of them.

@Dizzyruptor - Here in the UK, everyone is innocent until proven guilty (beyond reasonable doubt), so yes, you would need irrefutable evidence for any case against the police or a criminal. Again, here in the UK, if you are in a position of trust and break the law, you are dealt with more severely than if you are a common criminal (unless you're a politician) no slap on wrist. I just find people so hypocritical because it is the police that they rely on when the S#it hits the fan.

I accept that every country is different, with corruption at different levels but generally speaking, if you have dealings with police, you probably did something to bring them there. The vast majority of people have no interaction with police whatsoever. It's the police that keep my area safe. Not activists or protesters, not Youtube critics, but the police.
