  • You guys should shoot your camcorder reviews with the camcorder you're reviewing. Would help a lot to see what it actually looks like.

  • does it come with a sd card?

  • can u make vids with lcd closed?

  • people the main problem wid this cam is videos cannot be read in computer

  • Question:

when using an external mic and headphones while recording do you hear the actual sound you are recording? or you have to play it back to check the quality?

  • Useful review. Time to ditch the Canon XM-2 I think!

  • you said for that money you could get a better camera. which one?

  • Can I connect it to a HD tv direct from the camera without the docking station?

Can I connect to a HD tv with the docking station?

  • I have seen these for £315 online. Good value.

  • Hey so really, anyone can help me answer this.

But seeing that this video was posted up Janurary 30th, 2009, how much was it's price back then?

  • How can ik play my scenes on tv behind each other?

  • this camera is an amazing stepup from the HD1010, main reason? 16x optical zoom, as the other only 10x. down side, the slow motion feature is only 240 fps, as the 1010 is 300. it is th sane resolution though.

  • No mention that you will need a quad core computer to play/edit the full HD video. The compression format uses a lot of power to decode and the files are necessarily massive. I use mine in 720p mode which is playbackable on a dual core 3.5GHz 2GB memory computer.

Not sure about HD1010 but I also have a HD2 which *for Youtube* seems to be little different.

The low light is much better on the 2000 and 60p means that it can shoot moving things with less choppyness but on YT it is 30fps.

  • It has much less to do with the processor than it does the RAM and even the video card. One should be able to get by with a dual core computer running at less than 3GHz, so long as they have enough RAM. 4GB would be enough. A stronger CPU and a video card (with dedicated memory) isn't even necessary.

  • @HoopsTGG

Thank you! I will look into getting more RAM, another two GB, for my computer. If I remember I will post here with the results.

But then over at the vimeo forums there is a thread about whether having a quad core processor cuts the mustard. By implication, they are suggesting that a dual cored does not, methinks.

I have a quad core too. I have not started using it yet.

  • Check out my video, entirely made by this awesome camera, to see the amazing HD GLORY :D

  • who done your wallpapering it dont even line up lol

  • vpc th1 has 30 times zoom its very good

  • Is this still the latest model in the xacti range and what are your views on it now that it's available from £324.95

  • holy crap i want this so bad and tomorrow i might be getting it

  • The Sanyo Xacti HD1010 is also a very good camcorder and a lot less.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom - this is my big decision at the mo - to buy an HD1010 or spend a little bit more on an HD2000. The funny thing is the HD1010 seems to get better reviews than the HD2000, even though the HD2000 is a step up. Cant decide !

  • I do not know to much about the HD2000 but I think they took out the 720p 60 FPS but added 1080p 24p to have more of a film look. Just read one review on Amazon there seems to be a file format bug in the HD2000. I would go with the HD1010.

I almost went with the JVC Everio GZ-HD30 someone sells them cheap on ebay. They say there new but I think they are refurbs.

Someone on Amazon had a JVC Everio GZ-HD30 used for 350 dollars but I went with Sanyo being new.

  • its 1080p 60fps

  • Comment removed

  • i was talking about the 2000

  • @ngvgnDOTcom well ... i got an Xacti HD1010 with a 16mb SDHC and spare battery for £312, arrived 5 mins ago and i'm charging it up ! I was tempted to get the HD2000, but it was nearly £100 more, and i think in the end i'll settle for the cheaper model and see what they release next in the HD series.

  • @TheUTubeTeamSucks You'll be very happy with the 1010. It's not a Pro camcorder like the very high end Sony, Canon, JVC, but with the right camera work even a pro could not tell. Plus those Por camcorders are up to 3,000 and up.

  • I think it's cheap for its 1080p/60FPS... can you give me a better camera?

  • @Stevenx01 only slight match ups = canon legria HF R16 and the panasonic sd60. This is the better cam though

  • @miragestudioE i've just sent it to RMA: it does really overheat and freeze-up eliminating the video that I was recording. Really frustrating. 60fps are not really 60fps, sometimes it goes 59-57fps... I think Sanyo wanted to do something good with a bad hardware...

  • @Stevenx01 really?? damn.. I rly liked this camera... trying to think :/ thank you anyway for telling me :) anything I should be aware of? and is this the same for the FH1?

  • @miragestudioE I don't know if the problem was only mine but... when I called the Assistence, when I started talking about my problem they said "uh, you are the man who called few hours ago?". That makes me thing that the camera suffers of overheating by itself. There are 29°C in my house, i've started a recording using the camera on a tripod and after 12 mins, you weren't able to touch it because it was burning; then, after more 20 mins, it has auto-shutted down for overheating. I don't know FH1

  • @Stevenx01 oh well, thank you for that very much :) I am thinking of the sony HDR TG7VE instead :) thanks for telling me as I was rly thinking of this camcorder

  • very informative. i was thinking about buying this one and your video confirmed that :)

especially now that the prices went down :)

  • In Norway this sanyo xacti vpc HD2000 is very cheap. It costs about 500 buck`s

  • lol it says 16x zoom

  • do you know if the HDMI works as an output with the video camera (not play back but as a live feed)

  • That was very helpful - thanks a lot!

  • Check out the hd1000 camera is nearly as good and the camcorder is just as good at the moment you can get it sub 300£ worth an option check out jearley2424 my latest hd films

  • Can you change pictures so they have special effects... IE make it so pictures are back and white, collage, tiles, puzzle, visual effects like fake beard or soemthing.. change colour of the pictures directly on the camera..?

  • Where the clips of the product used with a xacti?

  • whats the battery life??

sorry if he said it i must have missed it.

  • He said about 100 minutes :)

  • oh thanks :]

  • Yeap :D

  • Thanks for this helpful review ! Cheers !

  • thanks a lot!!

  • whats the difference between this and the sanyo xacti hd 1010

  • its only about £350 now

  • Considering acquiring this pistol grip or the JVC GZ-HM200. Other manufacturer's list the lens maker, i.e., Sony proud to state, Carl Zeiss & JVC it's Konica Minolta but who the he@# makes the lens for Sanyo???

  • Dont know but c-net said the picture was as good as a Canon HF100(which is really good) and better than the canon HF20 and the JVC competitor(which both are very good).

  • youtube dosent support 60 fps right? if you upload a video from something that shoots 60 fps, its downgraded to 30. makes it look choppy. still high quality though.

  • fh1 because its alot cheaper

  • What do you think is better?

    The HD2000 or the FH1 ?

  • The Charger for my HD2000 failed after only 3 days of ownership. Verified no 5.0V out with a DVM (I'm an electrical engineer).

The Bad Sanyo charger is P/N VAR-G9 and is labeld

    AC-100-240V 50-60H

    DC 5.0V 2.0A.

I purchased a replacement adaptor at Radio Shack and I'm up and running.

I purchased my camera via a supplier in Hong Kong (Plemix), and didn't want to hassle with shipping things back to Hong Kong to get it fixed.

Not happy with Sanyo having such a simple component fail.

  • You said it has a 10X zoom, but it actually has a 16X zoom.

  • a bit wrong, if you listen really carefully he says that you have 10X optical in stills mode and 16X optical in videomode.

    greetings jetse

  • Oh sorry, over heard that. :P Thanks for letting me know.

  • was this shot with the camera you are reviewing?

  • I bought this camera in London this week. The price was as the reviewer said, £549, but with a bit haggering I got e free 16GB sd card and knocked £10 off. I know the £10 isn't much, but I saved £129 by getting the free sd card.

The store was Digital Technology, at 239Tottenham Court Road.

And no this is not a 'commercial', just thought I'd share. :)

  • Is it any good?

  • Thanks for the preview, would be nice to have heard a comparison with the 1000 and or the 1010, as the 1080 workflow on earlier models was tricky. You guys should have a better mic for your vids and please, lose the wallpaper, its so distracting to an otherwise nicely put together video. Keep 'em coming ; )

  • how do you comapare with the Sony T-500? Which do you think is better for HD video?

    Thanks

  • what camera did you record this video with? ;)

    Thanks

  • What about the high speed video mode? 600fps?!

  • thx for great preview. been really loking forward to that cam. but could you actually post a video-example (or are u not allowed by sanyo?). maybe here or on Vimeo. Anyway... THX!

  • hi thanks for the review! can you please give more info on the image (optical) stabilization? was there a significant improvement over HD1010?

  • Nice, I am sooo undecided between this and the Canon HF100 :P .. where did you found it here in the UK ?

  • Very nice...

  • yay HD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 10 Minutes? :|

  • Remember, it's HD mode

  • very nice cam, I want one but its pricey

  • The first video review for this camcorder! Ever since it was announced I've wanted it, and this review heightened my expectations for it :)

Again, I really appreciated it Dan!

    Cheers!

    Michael

  • U should record using that sanyo cam and upload onto youtube .. cause i want to see the quality

  • This looks like something you mount at the end of your garden hose.

  • Sanyo makes some pretty kickass Cameras
