  • I first came to these ideas via Tolle...and while I like him...found him a bit...boring lol. Adya seems way more engaging and good humored and likable. I really really like his approach and have gotten much further on my spiritual path because of his way of communicating these incredibly complicated(yet simple) ideas.

  • "non-sustainability will actually happen...and we'll have to deal with that."

oh my. did everyone hear that part?

  • @donHooligan Our current system of permanent wars to support the economy is most definitely unsustainable.

  • @Namaste1001 our current system of burning fossil fuels to meet our energy "needs" is also quite unsustainable.

  • He says that it's no good enough to have the phylosophy of oneness. That's tough.

  • as far as i know all governments, all religions and all justice system do the basically the same thing .GOD and good or bad people with the punishment of bad people .good people doing the punishment. punishment can be slavery, imprisoned ,torturer and killing , people are good for being a part of a grope such as county ,religion ,secret grope police or army.the bible mix's teaching of Jews and Jesus . Jesus teaches truth and love with help , forgiveness ,no hate of people, and no condemning .

  • Nobody knows what is going on. My advice is to think for yourself and to question everything. My life has taken a big turn, the world is changing very fast right before our eyes and we need to prepare ourselves and be openminded to new ideas, if you are on a spiritual journey I highly recommend Eckhart Tolle's wise books, "The Power of Now", "Stillness Speaks" and "A New Earth". Welcome to the next stage in the evolution of man, breaking away from the ego.

  • How are you waking up and living an experience where you contribute towards sustainability?

  • I enjoy this, you see the joy in his eyes, whenever you enter that "space" that openess, your eyes just slightly open because you're filled with joy

  • Nature in general is not very good at sustainability. There is just change and impermanence. I sometimes wonder if our striving for sustainability is a consequence of an ego that wishes to be immortal. This, of course, doesn't mean that we should ignore the bad karma that we create on this planet. I just think that trying to sustain anything can be a form of clinging and suffering. We have to be aware of our ecological needs, but realistic about them too.

  • When he says 'ego', we should read 'people'.

Ego is Latin for I, although we are many I,

which make up this individual projection of Spirit,

the many masks we create to protect our souls,

the real I or Self, which lives within all egos.

  • Keep going or take a break. Why to dig a wound in a healthy body? Why to break quietness to talk about silence? Too much thinking makes head tired. Little more than too much leads to illness. Why to talk ego, ego, EGO? Put it all down complitly. If there is nothing to say, stay still. Relax, relax, RELAX! Practice savasana relaxation. Take it easy. If you want practice, practise mindfulness. Be aware of what you see in front of you, hear what is around you. That'll help your health and sanity.

  • I love this guy. He's one of my favorite contemporary yogis. Others are recently deceased Ramesh Balsekar, Shunyamurti of the Sat Yoga Institute, and of course Osho. Osho's probably the most humorous.

  • As i flit through vids like this one, im saddened by so many negative comments that are made about Adya and Tolle etc. I personally dont believe that the likes of these guys are trying to preach or are anti religions but merely teach us that defending our opinion(or having one) is what creates a separation. By letting go of the need for an opinion quietens all internal confusion and allows our true nature to come forward (peace). I truely wish that more people could wake up and see the truth.

  • @absolutelyfree1963 hiya yeah i know what youre sayin. You have to be sure youre not being brainwashed without knowing. Would appear Adya has his heart in the right place. There is always that danger with any self help stuff. Many people have made a lot of money using NLP, including Chopra. There is always a danger that the "client" is so keen to be helped that they would do almost anything to get a result. Its no coincidence that these guys are surrounded by TV and Book companines etc.

  • Comment removed

  • @absolutelyfree1963 yeah totally. The problem lies that if we continue to search for answers outside ourselves then we are open to suggestion, sounds a little ambigous i know. Oprah is Tolles disciple and she seems to have been held to ransom by her egos demands, its an easy mistake to make, she is in the public eye after all. An open mind is impressionable and whilst it is honerable it is most definately worth spending enough time to check out what going on behind the scenes in your mind first

  • Comment removed

  • @absolutelyfree1963 yeah i havent got quite that disheartened yet but who am i to judge? My main gripe is that most of self helpers offer what appears to be a free service and of course here on youtube etc it is free but there is always a book plug or a movie plug etc during the vid you watch, its all promotion and its wrong! If a teaching was only a teaching there would be no promises and no book plugs etc, I havent noticed either in Adya's vids by the way, i think hes a good guy.

  • @absolutelyfree1963 dude i checked out your channel and theres some cool stuff there. Question for you, What do you think gives us intention? what do you think keeps our heart beating?? I mean, i have no idea what the answer is at all, I know that the heart continues on because of both chemical and electrical impulses but beyond that? what creates life, what is thought etc? let me know your view cos i see a lot of athesist stuff on your channel and i am intriged of your interest in Adyshanti?

  • Comment removed

  • @absolutelyfree1963 great to hear from you. Thanks for that. I have recently myself changed my direction. I am not sure whether it is spiritual or not. I was brought up in a Christian environment and agree with being good and fair to all etc morals. But im very anti the organised religions that insist that they are right because it causes such separation across the globe and creates wars. The more i look into the Aethesists view the more i understand. R Dawkins is a fascinating character.

  • @joinery11 all religion do basely same thing ,all of them have the same thing GOD and good or bad people with the punishment of bad people .good people doing the punishment. punishment can be slavery, imprisoned ,torturer and killing , people are good for being a part of a grope such as county ,religion ,secret grope police or army. bad people are usually, poor people ,people with addiction, people with sex problems, mentally ill people ,homeless people or people not believing like normal do .

  • Awesome!

  • He may be right but his emphasis on his"End of the world as we know it" is a prophesy in connection to the physical world . I think he is no more than a very confident believer in a theory. His view is linear it has an end point. The universe right down to the last Atom is spherical. There is not going to be mass change most will just kill each other over what little remains. The universe is not human centered we can die out ,just the same as any other creature. What we truly are is beyond that

  • ego is cool man ! thanks to him you can speak your shit !

  • I completely agree with what this guy has said, but when push comes to shove the more polarizing, ego driven actions still dominate the vast majority of people so I don't see it ending in a biological psychological evolution toward enlightenment at least not abruptly in the near future.

  • A modern day Buddha, but everyone has Buddha nature. Look for it but let it come to you...

  • i love this man, truely an amazing teacher if any of you live in the bay area an have the chance to go to one of his satsangs do it! probably the most simple an pracitcal teacher there is in modern days that doesnt just spew out random philosophy an say this is it, he says dont buy it until its experienced in your world as true, this is what the world needs, to let go of beliefs an ideas an give into experience an what we are experiencing is humanity that exists together beyond beliefs.

  • Perceiving from ego, makes illusion of plurality of egos as story you both tell and watch and suffer in split mind virtuality, forgetting the movement arising that is all in all. Waking up occurs when the conditions necessary for maintaining the split mind can no longer be found. For what or who could split a mind?

What then of the script of the world? Recognise it in mind, embrace in the heart, release into spirit. Let it serve awakening's purpose by releasing it of a wish to dream alone.

  • A change in consciousness will only take place when it is absolutely necessary. That's where we're heading. Only when people are faced with an intense sense of the possibility of their own annhiliation, that will be the time for a shift in human consciousness. It couldn't be any other way. Psychological evolution becomes a necessity for survival.

  • Monitary profit types like continuation of extreme exploitation.

These include governments, corporations, and financial industries. But at the same time there is some energy in these groups to change for sustainability. But it seems this Omega point will never completely manifest in these groups. So we low power individuals the insignificant ones of society must continue to make noise . When we speak out about sustainability and environmental issues at local and higher levels it helps.

  • Well, said.

  • @ lake. the world doesn't split apart. the axis shifts and lands rise and fall. and the earth gets to renue herself.

  • Hopefully. But we don't know that for sure.

  • In the words of Ramana Maharshi, "You see what You are looking at" or in the words of Thich Nhat Hahn (sp), "Peace is every step"..blessings

  • live in the little bubble of pure consciousness. The present moment, the now.

because the majority of the people are living in quiet desperation.

Society is sick and getting sicker. Eventually, insanity will destroy everything.

  • Why is every eastern spiritual thinker in the west buying into the 2012 consciousness pole shift nonsense? I'm just curious.

  • 2012 isn't important really. all that matters is what YOU do, 2012 or not, pole shift or not. Planet Earth is being destroyed right now. Humanity is destroying itself right now. so why wait for 2012 or work up to that? every second is a chance not to be missed, i think...

  • Good point indeed. Worth thinking deeply about. And action is required.

  • But I feel peace and happiness inside like thought that's impossible now .. !

I try to "teach " people what is hard mission of experience for me...

"sleeping People" telling me often to wake up from my "Dream World"...is it not funny..? ahaha

Most refusing this "GIFT' I like to give them..to wake up , yes I feel excitement looking forward

  • I absolute agree.. I feel same and live in this way and mind even..

.. i got through very hard lessons long time ago...

til I finally did wake up and "got" a very different "world".. to expering , since this people call and see me as crazy, nuts not normal and all this thign... because they don't understand and i did stop to try to "pushing" others to understanding.. a different "some' what is maybe not truly to explain really with words!

  • We all have so many influences. We stand on the shoulders of giants.

  • Could this critical point be for guru's benefit? And to counter it, another guru says everything is as it should be? Could it be that what I am saying is to benefit myself? Is it possible to completely rise above our selves before death? Has anyone in history done this before death? Or have most left legacies of themselves in one way or the other to continue it the same way they wanted it to?

  • We learn from the Guru and that Guru had a Guru and that Guru had a Guru so when it comes to Spirtuality its not about the the Guru wanting to continue their point in the same way they wanted it. In any life an individual has so many influences

  • U.G wanted to knock out his legacy

  • It is true, that we are out of options. And it is down to waking up or going down. That we are reaching a critical point in humanity.

But... I am far from "lets wait and see what happens". It is up to each and one of us, if we are going to make it or not. And the way to make it, is keeping an unbiased focus on what the outcome will be. It is to keep your own vibration as good as you can get it. And KNOW IT, deep in your heart, that we will evolve and grow into something beautiful. :)

    Namaste.

  • Yes, let's do this! Keep our focus on what the universal heart wants.=)

  • The myth of self enquiry...?

  • It's a trap and en endless cycle of relative "rights" and "wrongs" for us to talk about this subject. Of course I want the world to be at peace, but my guess is, if there could be such a thing, then we wouldn't be in form (human or animal). Maybe we would all be plants:) I think what Nisargadatta Maharaj said is on the mark. From the perspective of consciousness (Awareness), everything is at should be.

  • It doesnt have to be a trap, it can be fun. We can have clarity in the realm of unknowing yet also share some concepts about it, it's harmless. Nothing wrong with being trapped=)

  • "Clarity in the realm of unknowing"...sounds like an oxymoron to me...lol

  • Sorry, I don't know what an "oxymoron" is so you just have to laugh for yourself otherwise we could have had lots of fun with all these name calling. I wonder when we will learn how to stop criticize each other so hard. I hear that it is a quality that happens when one is living the direct experience of the natural state. I dunno there is contraction off and on.

  • oxymoron: a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in cruel kindness or to make haste slowly. There was no "name calling". There is only relative clarity in the realm of the unknown.

All we can do is live our lives with our own sets of morals and ethics which are predominantely shaped by our biology and upbringing. If you want to change the world and have it be a more peaceful place, then change yourself.

  • Ok, sounds fair enough. I agree. Thank you for info. I learn something everyday. I dunno maybe I didn't intend to put it that contradictory way, it just came up here in awareness.

  • except the eternal self:)

  • I totally agree with Adya on this. Eckhart Tolle's message is the same, either humanity evolves or it dies through self-destruction. I personally think we're going to evolve. It's very hard to see how at the moment because there is such massive division in the world, but I agree with Adya that we have no other option.

  • Tolle (Molle)..this is pure nonesense. I like Adya but this is opinion borne out of thought. When asked this same question, Maharaj's reply was that the world is exactly as it should be. "Was there ever a world without troubles? Your being as a person depends on violence to others. Your very body is a battlefield, full of the dead and dying. Existence implies violence. There is little of non-violence in nature. Do you realize that, as long as you have a self to defend, you must be violent?"

  • Does existence imply violence at the level of over a hundred million in a single century? Human on human. Yes, you must be violent to defend the self, isn't that what Tolle and Adya teach? Why exactly is Tolle nonesense?

  • Some ot the things that Tolle writes about such as the "pain body" and the female menstruation cycle goes into the mumbo jumbo "New Age" realm. Tolle also constantly talks about the "evolution of consciousness". Adyashanti denies that there is such a thing. However, in this video, he seems to indirectly state that it does exist. Maybe he read Tolle's book...LOL.

  • I agree with you about some of Tolle's message is New Agey, energy fields and stuff like that. Also the constant Bible quoting doesn't do him any favours. But his core message is a good one is it not? His message is the same as that of Buddha, yet I think he explains it more clearly than anyone I've heard. So do you think there is no evolution in consciousness and humans will continue to slaughter each other in ever in ever increasing amounts? Violence is a part of nature but not at such a scale

  • Well, I think that the book "the power of now" has helped a lot of people feel better in some cases surrender has occured. In that sense this "mumbo jumbo" actually did some good for someone who was feeling lonely or lost or whatever. Nothing wrong with that. Basically everything that is said about self enquiry is false anyways so lets just leave it at that and dance with the molecules!!=)

  • Yes everything and everyone are exactly as the are supposed to be. Waking up to the obvious. But, that doesn't mean that nature is not seeking closure and will by all means necessary find one. Which very well could be an opening for us to take a leap in evolving, a leap in our own powers to create and to use natural forces. Earth & The golden Sun will decide our destiny. There is only one existence and it has many dimensions to it. A biological monster of energy is coming human evolution happens

  • Why would nature seek closure? Closure to what? You're asking this question from the thinking mind. Does the tree seek revenge on the loggers when it sees one next to it cut down? Nature is living out its course as everything else in existence. It sounds as though you think nature is out to avenge the human race. Again, this is all too much within the nonsensical "new age" garbage that's being spewed by the neo-gurus out there.

  • I am not asking questions. No, the trees does not seek revenge. Nothing seeks revenge. Yes, earth is living out its course and that course will close one chapter to continue on into another chapter, humans might become a closed chapter that's all and it doesn't really matter. Earth has defence mechanisms. Everything has already taken it's course apparently but if humans want to continue into the next chapter of life than we better evolve into a new consciousness.

  • isnt this the guy that plays with kids?

  • Words are just pointers. Pointing at something we believe is true. Like many enlightened masters say words lost meaning for them, its only the eternal Self.

  • You can say awareness as well. The eternal Self.

  • They most certainly are.

  • Comment removed

  • nope ;) not smokin

  • hey how come you did not ask about conscience?BTW Freud came up with this concept of ego. What did we believe before that??? I don't smoke anything, unlike many i know ;)

  • Forget all concepts/beliefs, what comes prior to mind?

  • There is nothing. And everything. Love!

  • YES!!!! faith, hope, and charity and the greatest of these is CHARITY(LOVE)

  • lololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

  • Well ego is a small universe in you. Of course there is no such thing as ego if you don't believe it with your spirit. Lots of people do..

  • There will have to come a time where we leave all these computers and internet behind. There is so much work to be done in nature after realizing what we are. There is already a network in which we are connected to, from where we can connect, communicate and gather genuine information from. There is a source within ourselves, in earth and in this universe from where we are one. From where we can create all that our heart desires. We are a magic potential of more than the technological can offer.

  • divinenature

nope,as God is going to cleanse the earth and purify it of the rampant evil,We are not moving in the direction of love but greed, hate, and corruption.extreme and unatural self love

  • Well OK, that is from your speculation/ observation or interpretation, maybe some scripture involved? OK? Mine goes; There is no "God" there is only Alive Awakened and Intelligent Nature as the energy and life-force behind all beings sentient and non-sentient. First you say that "God" (by whatever name) is going to cleanse the earth and purify it yes? Doesn't that mean that we are headed towards the direction of purification of LOVE? What else is "God" going to purify it with? Interesting.

  • purified with fire.....

  • I LOVE FIRE! Real ecstacy of the sun, my strength comes from the sun... ITs all love anyways FIRE.

  • you sound a bit like a pyro.... lol seriously this is going to occur. be prepared

  • Haha lol lol Pyro haha well I meant more like my burning inner nature not an obssesion with fire;)

  • Yes, it will happen. But we will not know the outcome. We can prepare ourselves.

  • ego is a MAN MADE concept. God breathes the breath of life into each soul and we ALL have a conscience(hopefully)

  • Yes take the monkey out of us I love it!

  • He said that it is very possible that we will come to that point of non-sustainability in our life-time but nothing is certain yet. We might wake up to find new resources to sustain ourselves on earth or we might hit the turning point where mother earth will cure herself rid of all poisons. Suddenly something unexpected happens which transforms everything, interesting times.

  • Yea I see what u mean, it is just a word made up by that madman who wanted to readapt people into the mad society!

  • A biological monster of energy.

  • Direct Namaste Adyashanti:)

  • I am delighted that you found, and included Adya in this...he has so much to offer as a "tell it like it IS" voice. Thank you so very much.

  • Im actually beginng to be excited to live in this life time becouse its very possible that we may see the end of this civilization, hopefully there will be a conclusion!

  • I think Steve Gray makes in this video a summation of the profound truth about what is at stake and how these two egotist modes play their role in man kinds destination. Are we Hitler or are we Mother Teresa ? If our governments and cultures stay focused more toward the Hitler mode we are up the creek without a paddle. Adyashanti is definitely one of a very rare few that are on our planet at any given time. I feel he is correct about we are at the time of reckoning

  • oh my godddddddddddddddddd

how have i just ressonated to. what a thought.

one of the greatest thought about the future of earth i have heard ever.

god bless u adam, eres muy grande, im sending u a warm hug from rotterdam!!!!!!!!!

  • this man's barometer is pitch-perfect.

ok, so maybe i'm mixing up my metaphors there :-o, but

this man (and his wife Mukti) is one of the few things I miss about living in California. do yourself/all of us the favor, pls- watch all his friggin' videos.

being able to drive just 5 min up the road and have the most important matters: human existence, being explored and slayed and questioned and laid out, together, in a room, with other endearingly humble and arrogant fools... truly- awesome.

  • I find Adyashanti's videos (on youtube) often exciting. The potentials there are in life. I should probably buy one of His books actually.. (i use a capital because He might be enlightened in some way)

  • All he says is be awake. That is as simple and easy as anything. I have been to krishnamurti centre in bramdean hampshire. I have been a alcoholic for years and at that time i wasnt ready. If it means anything to anybody. I would trust my life to Adyashanti. I take no fools. Me included. Look at string theory. Theory M. If you dont believe in life after death. Look at pam Reynolds. Look at jesus and the centuryan. But the most important thing this chap is asking you to do is look at yourself.

  • Adyashanti's wisdom rocks. "we are running out of options other than to 'wake up'. "

    DING!

  • Thanks for this.

  • great video

  • you fool.

  • WHo cares - at last a HOT guru!!

  • yeah, Kurt V. has done some very penetrating thinking in public (his novels, essays, and interviews). In one he wrote that he asked his son, a pediatrician, what we are here for. His son's reply, "We are here to help eachother through this, whatever this is".

  • c/o 'Timequake', by Kurt Vonnegut, free will (as used in his book) and the waking up described here are much the same. This nascent energy crunch is likely the opening act of the single most important turning point our species has encountered. We are about to enter a regime of less and then even less energy after a long period of more piled upon more...the changes will test our ability to co-operate and likely our kind's fitness for survival

  • wow! amazing! it will take evidence for us to feel that we are all the same, until then our society will be skeptical and judging.

  • there can be no evidence. The joy of being is something that can only be realized as truth, not quantified, explained, or understood by the mind. Once the joy of being is realized, there is no effort in expressing the love which has no oppsite. That love expresses as a respect for all things.

  • True, but it's our duty, as those who, you almost can say, have been in the future and saw it coming, to seek for solution right now, or better yet, to be the solution right now. If there's god who is watching all of this -we are surely his eye, and if he'll fix it - it will be through our hands.

  • This is the very best description of the future I have seen or heard. thank you very much.

  • It is true, when we all face the same major issue of self survival on this planet, and it affects the majority, only then will there be a unification of the spirit to work towards the same goal of self sustainment and working with the environment.

  • If the ego is part of creation then surely it being destructive or constructive is simply the will of the source, consciousness or whatever you want to call it. Consciousness is surely the victim and the destroyer - ego or no ego - it makes no difference. this is a political viewpoint not spiritual although perhaps it doesnt matter - but its a shame to mix the mystical and political and dangerous. Waking up isnt about being 'good' or 'bad'.

  • Waking up may not be about being 'good' or 'bad', and in the Absolute sense nothing is right or wrong. But in the relative sense, if we don't start making more of a collective effort to treat each other and the Earth a little more kindly then we'll be in big trouble. To this end mixing the mystical and the political might be a crucial necessity.

  • I cant help feeling that the idea of this perfect world is just not accepting the nature of existence - yes we are going towards something but havent we always - how it materialises is complicated beyond our most advanced minds -arent we more collective than ever and less local. maybe being more local is better - i dont know - lao tzu said 'empty your mind of all thoughts. let your heart be at peace. watch the turmoil of beings, but contemplate their return.'

  • i agree that utopianism appears incompatible with the nature of existence. but i also think people are gradually becoming more collectively compassionate, and though it probably can never be 'perfect' we have the potential to create a saner world. the cause and solution to humanity's problems have their root in our consciousness.

  • You cannot end suffering by ending suffering. You can only end suffering by transcending it. A "perfect world" with no pain is an illusion, transcendence is not.

  • Be careful with this one. The omega center is trying to use Adyashanti as a poster boy here, and as such it is a poor representation of his uncompromising and radical teaching.

He is trying to say that ANY ego investment is separative and destructive, even if it is "trying to sustain the world and have peace and happiness", and that Ego investment MUST END IMMEDIATELY. But the editor let that be unclear, and chose to highlight Adya's sensational afterthoughts and their cheesy slogan.

  • ha! yes! wonderful!

But did the editor 'let' that be unclear? Your intepretation seems, to me, to be the very natural conclusion from watching that video.

I think it is more along the lines of people will hear what they want to hear -

  • Yes, the editor let it be unclear - not consciously - but he did. The "romantic" intro music hasn't even faded out when Adyashanti is communicating the deepest teaching... a teaching which is unbearably subtle and difficult to communicate at the best of times, a teaching which calls for actual awakening, not institutions of awakening.

  • ... and no, I don't think that the typical mind would pick up on the delicacy of his speech here, especially when it is bookended by a schmaltzy promotion for an institution who claims to be "awakening the best in the human spirit", a suggestion which flies in the face of what adya is talking about (!) Yes, unfortunately people are in the habit of hearing what they want to hear. This habit can be met with truthful words and gestures, not exploited to promote institutions.

  • ravenseen - agreed.

and yet - we can take an antagonistic and devisive stance to such commercialisms, or perhaps appreciate the flower poking up from the crack in the sidewalk.

  • Thank you stefan for taking on my passionate remarks. I appreciate that they sound adolescent. And yes, using the words cheesy, schmaltzy lend a kind of devisive quality to the speech... maybe I'm being wrathful?

  • maybe I'm calling everyone involved to attention. Because, in truth, the heart of my comments is not divisive at all... it calls us to the utmost of unity.

  • I think you have a little misunderstanding. ""He is trying to say that ANY ego investment is separative and destructive, even if it is trying to sustain the world and have peace and happiness"", -- First, Egos CANNOT have everlasting peace and happiness, NEVER, only a few moment maybe , I guarantee you that. And Ego action always will be somehow destructive, since in reality, it will never be really interested in sustaining the world, it does this only to save it..

  • yes yes... we are seeing and saying the same thing.

  • ..to save itself. You can see around or watch the news to see that everyone is being totally destructive tryng to get personal peace and happiness. Ego, If it can save itself, then it doesnt care about the world. When he says that Ego investment Must end Inmediatly, he says to point that any action other than an action coming from our true nature is going to make thing worse. OUR true nature is to totally support everything around us, not effort needed.

  • yes.. again... it's delicate though.

  • Adya´s just great...!

...interesting point of view to this explosive issue...of our actual situation...

But I am confident that all will be well - although at times it doesn´t seem so...!

  • Love this video!!! Adya's so right, and I too am interested in seeing what will happen.
