  • and it gets alot louder you can hear my cockatoo from down the road

  • My cockatoo does that when she wants attention. The minute we take her she seems like her happy self again. If it was pissed it would probably be puffed up and be hissing like crazy.

  • Sounds a lot like my boy when he's thinking that I'm ignoring him (i.e. when I'm cleaning cages or feeding the other birds)... Though I wonder if sometimes 'toos scream just 'cuz they like the sound of their own voice. >.>

  • When my sun conure goes off like this I refer to it as a U.B.E, unidentified bird emergency.

  • @slinkskull: He he, I like that! :>)

  • I have one just like it .I'm ready to shot him

  • @beaverfeed: Don't shoot him.....he can't help it, it's in his nature....if we just knew what they were saying... :(

  • i love the little chicken legs

  • Fascinating, what does this mean?

  • @lexiconlover: Not so sure: "don't like what's on the TV"...."give me more attention"....

    She was unhappy about something...

  • Speak up cockatoo, my volume is at full blast and I can barely hear you.

  • Where's the snooze button on this thing!!!! LOL

  • @simie33 LOL!!

  • Agreed, adoption is the way to go. I was at a parrot conference a few years ago in Guelph ON, Canada. In the vendor area a local rescuer had a male Moluccan received two years prior. He was said to be quite agressive when a man gave him up due to a relationship with a lady. Then, he was a beautiful, cuddly, gentle fellow. M2's love scratches.

    Keep up your work.

We bought our M2 19 years ago from a small breeder.

Then, we had not heard of a parrot rescue. Got to get the word out!

  • OMG LADY GAGA!

  • @Cockatoo3434: I think you misunderstood...MY AGENDA: ADOPT a homeless Parrot -- do NOT BUY one from a breeder!

And yes, paper and carton shredding is a wonderful exercise for busy parrot beaks that were made for chewing -- it is certainly NOT a behavioral problem (just a messy reality of living with parrots). :>)

  • everytime my umbrella cockatoo starts screaming, I play this and she stops, amazing every time!! lol

  • @midnitep0is0n: Glad to be of help! ~lol~ :>)

  • I was texting someone when the video was loading and then hearing this bird made me jump out of my seat... The first thing I though was "DAMNIT. MY ALARM- oh wait..."

XD Lovely bird by the way. x3

  • What a quiet cockatoo compared to my Freda...LOL. Listen, it is possible to sub the song for something else...but this is a natural expression to...so I give my Freda some scream time, some bark time, and plenty of more "gentler" vocal interaction....

  • A Cockatoo can be more demanding and fussy than Veruca Salt, and if it doesn't get the things it is after, it's going to SCREAM!

  • She must have seen the intro animation to Angry Birds.

  • At 0:08 lol XD

  • Like its dinosaurs ancestors before it hahaha

  • Shes got a great future in horror movies! ;D

  • when this video started playing my parakeets and cockatiel stared at my like what the hell?

  • @HavenRoyalty Haha same here.. Mine got all quiet :P

  • LMAO XD

  • Cockatoo: LOVE ME YOU SON OF A GUN!!! D:<

  • Oh No! I forgot to turn off my alarm clock!

  • @TheKutekitty123 lol omg

  • Cockatoo screams are adorable and hilarious till they wake you AND your neighbors across the street in the early morning hours, and get this: there's NOTHING you can do about it. If they want to scream, they are going to scream. You can scream back, but they won't here you, because that's just how loud they are. I think cockatoos are cute, but I would NEVER own one. I had to go through this type of screaming in another state for an entire summer once. It's not fun.

  • My cockatoo does the same thing, I can't wait till thanksgiving...

  • Yep, it's a cockatoo, OK. All umbies basically say :

'Scream? Sure. WHY? Cuz I can' :)

  • Thats a good scream sream

  • your cocatoo and mine would get along so well ,, lol

  • Give me a thumbs up for anyone who would hate to wait up to that every morning....lol

  • @Mattlover0 i wake up and go to sleep to that every morning:)

  • I put the volume up up up, and I still like it. I guess I'm abnormal??

  • My mom's cockatoo likes to start screaming around three am and he won't shut up until you feed him. He also screams in the evening to 'say goodbye to the day' as my mom puts it. -_-;

  • My Mr. Cuckoo and I absolutely LOVE Nana. Every video is so true to kind. She is a pwecious widdle durl and we appreciate your films. I think Mr. Cuckoo wants to know her in the Biblical sense. Nothin' doin' pal!

  • Still like em :D

  • Awhhhh she was soo upset! poor thing.

  • cell phone any one ?

  • yea kinda loud but our sun conure is louder than our u2. our u2 is louder than our tv turned all the way up and our conure drowns him out. our conure is 1/3 smaller than him too!!!

  • My friend has one of these, and up until a few weeks ago I had never heard any species of Cockatoo scream. One day when I was over her house, we were doing homework in her room when the bird started screaming for no reason at all. It went on for like 5 minutes until I asked, in complete honesty I might add, "Is my mom here already?"

  • omg

  • You know my 8 year old cockatiel hen screams a LOT louder...at just 100 grams! Cockatoos (of ALL SIZES--people forget that COCKATIELS ARE COCKATOOS--just little ones) are LOUD BIRDS! She's also a DRAMA BITER and FEATHER PLUCKER! She has EVERYTHING in the world--but does all this! Cockatoos are WILD and we need to protect them in the wild! It takes a SPECIAL BIRD to raise COCKATOOS--of ANY species!

  • Thank you for sharing... wish I'd known before hand what I was getting myself into with my U2.

  • If you turn up your volume all the way, its what it sounds like in person x_x

  • Cool Bird She Sure Does Like To Screem Mabye You Should Keep Her Outside For Halloween!

  • its simple..... Nana is PSMing...

  • I will not show my cockatoo this.

  • i love it how cockatoos just scream for the hell of it.

  • @Cristiano120100: It's probably quite healthy...lol...

  • @Cristiano120100 Yep :) my neighbours have 2 of them hehe ^_^

  • @Cristiano120100 It's not so funny when you're sound asleep!

  • It is far from hilarious. A cockatoo is a highly intelligent being. If she is crying out like that there is a damned good reason. She is struggling to c ommunicate something and be understood. If a person can't accommodate or won't then please adopt out the poor bird to someone who will and can accomodate. I've been a bird and animal guardian for decades and I can assure you from experience that ALL animals and birds have intelligence, emotions, needs and their communications systems.

  • @meriprem She's a COCKATOO. They're the most troublesome parrot breed because this is what they do, yell for no reason other than to have fun. There's nothing wrong with this bird, she's just being her species.

  • LOL too cute its singing to you!

  • its singing! XD

  • Har fågel blivigt ett får :D va gulligt :D

  • my cockatoo hates this! haha

  • Thats my alam clock everyday...

    Thanks to my cockatoo Ariel

    :D

  • I play this for my 3 year old umbrella cockatoo and she LOVES it! Screams, dances and headbobs to whatever it is Nana is saying! Baby must agree hah! She is a stunning cockatoo.

  • @AsakaAkazume: That's so cool! I'm glad 'somebody' understands what Nana is 'saying'!\

    Thanks for sharing! :>)

  • @AsakaAkazume

I think you missed the point! These are not domesticated animals. As cute as they are, they are annoying as hell. And they are not changing for us, EVER! They can learn or language, our "songs" and how to pick our locks! It is however not because they are force to, but because they can. Unless you are willing to learn there language, and who they are, you are abusing these brilliant creatures.

  • @SaylorMom: WELL SAID!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • @SaylorMom They're toddlers with wings and they NEVER grow up!

  • Most Parrots will eat Corn that is frozen. All that you do is put some corn in a bowl add some water to it.. heat it in the microwave dump the water out... let the corn cool off.. corn must be warm not hot.. or it will burn their gizzard/throat.. (don't add butter) they will eat it.. also they will eat peas in a pod don't feed them to many.. like 4 to 7 of them... also they like bananas especially cockatoos.

don't feed them milk coffee beer soda etc not good for them.

  • Birds are so funny & cute especially parrots. they might be loud but their fun to play with if you treat them good... they will live longer if you don't tease them, scare them or feed them food that is not good for them.

To all Bird Owners Chocolate, Avacado is POSIONOUS and Anything LEAD will Kill a Parrot/Bird Doesn't matter what it is.

Most Parrots love Veggies! don't give them anything sweet to eat link Junk Food or Salty Foods not good for them.

  • @bilaremix: A-D-O-P-T is the key word.....but then where would Nana go??? ~wink~

  • Awww poor thing. I and possibly most women sympathise re hormones and frustration. I feel like screaming too at times :(.

  • Sounds exactly like my Umbrella Cockatoo! I love the sound. xD

  • Lmao...This is what Dobie ( My umbrella ) does when he doesn't feel he's getting enough of, well, whatever it is he's wanting. :P Either this, or he can imitate an alarm clock. Hehe, so this video cracked me up.

  • Yup, when we had a Cockatoo we could hear it having a fit inside while out in the barn. Though the dance it did after that was funny as hell.

Then just as fast as it started, it stopped, and he'd find his favorite person, climb up on them and cuddle

  • hahaha very funny ^.^

  • haha, my yellow nape didn't respond to this but my dog sure did. lol She started whining. xD Not sure whose louder this bird or mine when she starts her yelling. this was loud even on youtube so i wonder how loud it is in real life. lol Bet you do need ear plugs. haha

  • nice alarm clock

  • I've got to ask you something, though I know it may just be a matter of opinion... have you worked with different types of cockatoos enough to hear their screams? This is actually screaming I would probably welcome, because it seems to me that Moluccans scream a whole lot louder than this. Are Moluccans louder on average than Umbrellas? (By the way, I do so love my Ozzy, and since he is still a baby, he only screams when he's terrified of something- now I see what I have to look forward to!)

  • Auto-tune that bird.

  • DANGER! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

  • funny how it screams and turns is head while swaying side to side ^_^

  • My baby boy Mahkee loves to watch this video! He was scared at first but I out on youtube and we watch all the other cockatoos...he always reacts to this one! Nana, seems like a real peach! I am just finding out my Mahkees personality as he is only 7 months old! Gotta love em to out up with em!

  • Yeah we have one that does that all day every day 365 days a year and louder. I hate it lol

  • Thank you i now decided i do not want a parrot lmfao!!!

    JUST KIDDING it is adorable

    cute bird!!!

  • This video makes my cockatoo FLIP THE F*CK OUT.. whatever she's screaming about is the international cockatoo noise for PANIC

  • maybe she was upset about being on camera lol!!!

  • Give her some music to sing along to... :D

  • @BirdLoversOnly: She gets plenty of different music to listen to -- her version of 'singing' along is just not very pleasing to the human ear... ~grin~

Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving and somebody ELSE did the cooking! :>)

  • I wish I was located near one of these rescue places.. I can't find any large parrots for rehoming in Connecticut, which is frustrating. I can't travel to South Carolina, or Texas to adopt a parrot, unfortunately. I'm left with buying from a home that raises parrots, which is near me.

Unfortunately for the parrots, they are meant to live in the wild, free, not with humans, locked away from potential mates. An owned parrot is a parrot in a jail cell, essentially.

  • @basspig Your bottom paragraph is 100% correct! Unfortunately, it will never end until large parrot breeders realize that they are just adding to the rescues, and only about .00001% of their babies will go to their FOREVER home!

  • @stacysaysrawr101 Breeders have the profit motive and buyers have the selfish desire to own the bird as an object/show piece. At least SOME of the parrots live in loving, affectionate households, with lots of other parrots to get along with. I feel bad for the single parrots left in cages all day long.

  • lol it's just like a big baby.

  • Maybe she wants a boyfriend??? hehe :P

  • I don't know why but this cockatoo reminds me of the velociraptors in Jurassic Park.

  • @j2201987 Modern birds are descendants of the raptor family, including the velociraptor. It just shows more in some birds than others.

  • I'm not sure why, but there is something incredibly hilarious about this video.

  • I was thinking of having a cockatoo someday, but after seeing a lot of cockatoo videos and visiting mytoos.com, I know for sure that I would not be able to give a cockatoo the proper care it needs. So, because I love cockatoos, I'll never own one :)

  • @snizzlefrazzy: Bless you for your honesty!

  • @snizzlefrazzy i wish everybody was like you and actualy did reaserch and found out what these birds are capable of... thank you for making the responsible choice knowing you can't have one because of what it can do...

  • Cockatoos should come with earplugs! What a beauty, though!

  • primal scream therapy

  • sounds like a Pterodactyl

  • aaah hope u help her 2 sort her probs out. she is beautiful

  • Maybe she needs another cockatoo to keep her company?

  • @mariesadler: She has one -- our wild-caught Moluccan Molly -- after 5 years they finally sit together and do some mutual grooming, but Nana is a hand-raised parrot imprinted on humans and will always prefer the company of a human to that of another cockatoo...sigh...

  • So cute!!!!! Mine does that too. They are such adorable animals!!!!

  • Does she lose breath?

  • I wake up to that noise every morning.

  • AHHHH!!!!AHH!!!!!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • My umbrella cockatoo is much louder when she screams. o__o

  • Wie süß ! ;)

  • My Gringa never goes on like that! I've heard that type of squawk come out of her only a few times when she is absolutely terrified of something! Baby dolls and playpens when the grandkids visit scare her to that sqhawk.

  • she is angry? and why?

  • my cockatoo is the same way only the screaming is worse. she just wants attention alll day long, i hate it.

  • She sounds like my bird scary

  • Nice alarm clock!

  • LoL! AMAZING!

  • sadly... i can tune this out after a bit of listening to it... with headphones in my ears and volume cranked. its loud yes and drowns all out but for some reason id likely be able to live with that... if i didnt have cranky non bird loving neighbours for miles around...

  • OMG what a wonder she is amazing Soo beautiful

  • She is terrifying..... :| looks like a monster LOL...poor girl. Much respect to you for being able to handle four large-breed parrots!

  • @l0veshine: She is a most lovable 'monster!'

Sometimes I do feel like I'm loosing the battle of caring for these high-maintenance companions...smile...

  • lol shes singing.

  • @NatalieDumDooDumDum: I think you are right! She IS singing...in Cockatoo! :>)

  • are we having a bad day? LOL!

  • @cassapollard: I think so...LOL!

  • I have an umbrella cockatoo, his name is Romeo, he is a monster, i wake up and he does a backflip and screams his eyes out. It is so funny though when he is watching tv with me he starts to laugh at the funny parts, somehow there so funny but loud O.o

it there anyway to make romeo not scream as much???

  • OMG Nnooooooooooo!!! I am on my way to pick one up in an hour... this is very disturbing!! :p

  • Wondrefull parrot!

  • My cockatoo screams like that

  • I had an umbrella cocatoo once. I remember the sound clearly. She was always such a sweetheart unless I wasn't around. Then she would scream at my family

  • seems like my alarm clock

the problem is you just cant stop it

    jajajajajaajaja

    I love this video

congrats for helping Nana to have a better life

maybe that was just her way to say "thank you for not leaving me alone on the streets" xp

  • soo cute

  • When my bird starts screaming, I just let her get it out of her system. Once she's calmed down she gets praise so she will associate being calm with getting praise and not crazy screaming.

She also just screams for the hell of it sometimes. As in the video of your baby Nana, when she gets scared it looks like she is staring at something in the distance but I never can figure out what it is.

  • holy shit

  • My baby-sitter's sulfer crested cockatoo would do that constantly, but she wasn't able to give him enough attention like she use too. Ended up having to give him away. :(

  • Sounds just like a human baby newborn screaming for its parents.

  • HAHA Nana sounds like something off Jurassic Park or Avatar! LOL! Great video!

  • My cockatiel was screaming today like crazy too and the female was just watching and thinking like "what in gods name does this bird want damn it?" XD

  • I have a Blue and Gold macaw . . . sounds just as loud, but I love him all the same!

  • mmm, what about a male for this lady?

  • I miss my little Happy

  • So this is what their screaming sounds like. We are hoping to take in an older too that was poorly treated by his owners for a long time. I've been wondering which is worse, a U2 or a BFA. I'm going with the blue front hands down :) The one we had would scream for between 10-14 hours a day and he did it for years.

  • Nana sounds like E.T. screaming!!

  • i think it was the dog

  • my umbrella cockatoo does the same thing!!!! we love her to death and wouldn't trade her for anything but sometimes it gets bad!

  • my old male cockatiel would hiss instead of scream.lol

  • hahahaha we just got one and she only screams like that when she is alone lol hahaha i love my bird though its the coolest animal i ever had.

i recommend this aNIMAL if u take care of it only they are very affectionate

  • Lmao my bird is so much louder than that one Ugh. I wish mine would be that quiet

  • Haha silly cockatoos. Gosh I miss that scream. I fostered a friends for 4 months, he did this nightly but so much more, went crazy dancing and throwing his crest everywhere. So funny. You could hear him down the road, so I know the neighbors could hear him indoors. Wonderful birds for those who are fit for keeping them!

  • my umbrella cockatoos always screams like that but we love her

  • My Cockatiel was worse. Its screams were high pitched.. im surprised im not deaf yet.

  • aww, i have a bird like this also and it does this, but its not as cute!!

  • my conure loves this!!!

  • 0:07, I lose it. I know she's very serious, but man it's hysterical when she takes that new angle.

  • She was freaked out! She made herself all skinny!

  • beautiful, jutta i got my FellowTraveller "disappeared, so i start over again! ha ha ha FUnf Stern und Fvorite !! joe z

  • I obviously better KEEP the back-up videos on my computer just in case! What a pain and a half! :(

  • yeah, I have (thank goodness) the older videos on DVD but the trick now is to FIND them!! ha ha

  • This is the one reason why we nicknamed my macaw (Horus) "The Living Tornado Siren"

  • oh my umbrella cockatoo is worse you can hear her a block away im surprised shes not screaming to the video playing... my bird hates new music she loves the beatles its freeky

  • You need to work on your vocals, that noise will get you nowhere on American Idol.

  • I've heard worse....ha ha ha

  • i wanted one but i started small with cockatiels and a sun conure and quaker parrot

  • OMG!!! its kind of annoying! But that bird look lovely!

  • I love their personalities!!

  • I've had mine for 20 years..they are nicknamed the "terrible twos." Why? Because they are just like a two year old baby. Their brains are amazing. Mine speaks in paragraphs. He tells me "bye-bye, be a good boy, no screaming, OK?" when I go out the door. He tells me when he wants to go asleep, usually around 8PM. "Go to sleep, good boy, good night, go to bed, OK?". You don't throw "the baby" out with the bathwater. . I wouldn't take all the money in the world for my Cha Chi.

  • my girl does this.

    all

    the

    time

  • Well, at least living with my nanday conures will help prepare me for this one day. :) I love cockatoos dearly.

  • yes they can be load, they also become a screamer, they can be trained not to be so load if it's a problem. I agree, these birds are not for none comitted people and should be left to a loving home that will keep them for a life time then handed down to family. I am on my second too the one is ariving next week. No problems yet with screaming. Just the normal stuff. My lesser is quite as a theif in the night.. Weired A?

  • If you want one of these birds, go see them in the wild... then leave them there. These are definitely not apartment birds (spoken as one who lives in an apt with one!)

  • My 4 year old umbrella cockatoo doesn't make any noise at all, she's a silent sweet parrot. BUT when she hears NANA she gets excited and does her too dance!

  • I FEEL YOUR PAIN I HAVE ONE THAT SLEEPS UNDER THE BLANKET AND SNORTS HER NAME IS SUGAR!I have another one named foulcor and the screaming just goes on and on and on and on and on!

  • HE HE!!! They can't help it: nature gave them this great set of vocal chords and those wonderful beaks to bring down the house with. Maybe that's our punishment for trying to make 'pets' out of creatures that weren't meant to be 'pets'...

  • That's the stuff Japanese horror movies are made of.

  • LOL

  • tell her i said this back "EEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!"

in cockatoo it means "your a good singer" ;)
