  • I had a wonderful evening, it was like the Nuremberg Trials

  • Funny to hear the Woody Allen connection. I'm Canadian and have known the song for 25 years without ever knowing (or caring) about it being in a W.A. movie. Always a favorite.

  • Like if Hannah and Her Sisters brought you here.

  • bravural. seriously.

  • Yeah, they were in Hannah and Her Sisters, but the show was at Webster Hall, not CBGB.

  • In Hannah and Her Sisters the band appeared very punk in appearance. In this video they look like a hairband. But I like the song whatever their genre is.

  • Great Montreal band!

  • Is that Andy Warhol on drums???

  • Astronette, that is indeed totally cool -- and extra style points for catching Missionimp's comment here on youtube! I'm amazed at how people come together so easily here, after having to spend years keeping an eye out for Neon Bible!

  • and your aunt is in the video, missionimp! that's kind of cool too...no?

  • chris barry is my uncle!

  • haha same here, he's my moms brother...

  • I'm trying to get in touch with Pierre Major and Joe from that band and also Mario Forlini, as they used to be my bandmates in the early 80's.

I anybody has any info please contact me here at youtube or theband@thewholigans(dot)c o m

    thanks

    Barry

  • when I first saw this group and I was like, who in the hell is this guy? at first, I thought he kinda sorta looked like a Steven Tyler Aerosmith look-a-like wanna-be. I think he's also from Boston. But this song is cool. I first heard hit in one of Woody Allen's movies.

  • @bobbisax The movie was Hannah and her sisters.

  • Meet the band once - super cool guys. Singer had a massive ego! Drummer was hot!

  • Any minute now they're going to take hostages!

  • awesome song!!

  • Wow, I find that really hard to believe. But if it's true, like, how unfair and sad is that? Chris Barry was a great singer, listen to Pillbox NYC's Jimbo's Clown Room cd and try telling me differently. The guy should've been a huge star. If he really was reduced to singing covers at pubs in the end, wow, there's no justice. But whatever happened to them, this is still a great song. I just got the 222's CD as well. First time i ever heard them and what a treat. They were great too!

  • @claraleduc77 it's like the movie match point also by woody allen, it's all about luck

  • haha putrifiedtoes what is your dad up to nowadays? my uncle Chris visiting me in Holland at the moment got me wondering what happened to the rest of that band....

  • Nothing special realy but he's still playing guitar and music stuff. Sorry for the delay.

  • i just saw Hannah And Her Sisters (beginning to end for once) and thought this song was pretty damn great

  • OMG Putrifiedtoes... what is your dad up to? And what about the rest of them?

  • Shit. Sorry if it took all that time but I guess my e-mail didnt get through. The band isnt together anymore but if I remember Chris the singer formed another band wich I cant remember the name.

  • Richard (Guitarist) is my dad. He's going to laugh when I'll tell him about this. Nice vid.

  • Is this album on cd ?and how can i get a copy?

  • You can get it on Itunes and all the download sites but Slip Into the Crowd album never came out on CD. Their posthumous Neon Bible album is also available on Itunes etcetera or on CD - you can usually find it on Amazon. Bonus, it's only the faster, rougher original unedited version of Slip into the Crowd that's available now. This video version had been edited for TV.

  • I got Slip Into the Crowd off iTunes. Hannah and Her Sisters did more for that song than anything.

  • I remember hearing this song on Much Music via my stereo (anyone remember those simulcast days??!!) back in the summer of 1989. I was so taken by the song and what it talked about that I stayed up until 3:30am (yes, when they actually repeated the day's programing in real time) just so I could record the song. Since that time 19yrs ago this is STILL one of my all time favourite songs! :)

  • I met these guys in calgary circa 1985 at a club long since shut down. it was called clubnotes in the old airliner hotel. It was fn cold that night and there was about 6 of us there but the guys put on a great show and I still have the autographed lp from that night. It had some very catchy rock/pop tunes another one that was very good was "sex in miami" I miss those day alot.

  • Hey Turdoftheloom, thanks so much for posting this video! There was a video for "stay faithless" back in 1986 or so . . . anyone know where we might find it?

  • saw them in 87 at my college in Montreal - they rocked! saw the lead singer a few years later in a cover band at a local pub, playing the doors.....

  • Chris, listen to me, man : it's all about the hair, and that 'do doesn't do you justice :( I loved you better in the 222's ;)

  • That song was performed by 39 STEPS in WOODY ALLEN's "HANNAH & HER SISTERS".

For more information: music msn com album album = 10557432

  • Thanks for the post ... I haven't seen this video since it came out and I had the big old satellite dish that picked up Much Music in Canada ... Great song

  • Cool song.
