in any case steam is on mac, it brought css, tf2, left4dead 1&2, portal, etc. cod4 and bioshock are on mac, there's plenty of games now if you really need a fix though they aren't playable on PowerPC macs. there's no reason why a Quad G5 with any video card you want (because it used PCI-E for GPUs) can't play bioshock. even an 8800 gt would be overkill for that game. it's too bad for quad G5s, they would still be pretty powerful even now. i should put a 5870 in a G5 out of spite.
the cost of this is that there is now no difference in hardware between PCs and Macs but the cost difference is still there. so you end up paying more and getting less. it's why hackintoshing is so popular now, why pay the mac price if all you are missing is the OS.
i own a couple G4 macs but i would refuse to get an intel mac as there isn't enough value in it. sure i don't get snow leopard but i have final cut pro, photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver and flash. which is what macs are for...
ironically the reason why there were few games for the mac was the same reason why macs WERE better for graphic design.
older macs used powerpc chips which had something called the velocity engine (also known as altivec) it was basically an accelerator (like MMX or SSE) but it was very powerful handling graphics.
because they didn't use x86 structure people didn't port games over, because it would have been much harder. thus macs are getting more game ports and stuff like steam now.

Steam isnt even on macs, just use an unreliable and resource hungry second operating system. probally because the mac population isnt big enough to make money for game developers.
I don't play games often, but in my experience, Macs tend to crash less when I'm rendering video FX and motion GFX. The only reason I primarily use a PC is because the software I use is updated first for PC and it's easier to transfer projects to my contemporaries since we all use the same platform. Otherwise I'd go Mac all the way (at least it's got Civilization).

You're wrong. I built a AMD Phenom Quad Core 3.1 ghz processor, 16 Gigs of RAM, and an Nvidia 295 GT. Those specs are better than the best Mac you can buy. I built my computer for 400 dollars. Where as the computer you would be from Apple is somewhere around 2500 bucks.

4. Give an example of Macs having "a lot more" memory than PCs. Personally, I find they both have the same average amounts.
5. I'm pretty sure PCs are much cheaper as far as price/performance goes. Build a PC with comparable specs to a Mac and THEN compare the total prices of each computer.

Okay, listen up I'm both a mac user and windows XP user! I also just downloaded the windows 7 build, and own Leopard for my mac side. I use a macbook pro. Now I will admit, my hardware is somewhat 'under the bar' of what it should be. However, my mac still runs at a great, acceptable speed. As for XP/Windows 7, they too, run at the same rate as my mac side, which is, I assure you, a very nice speed.
So neither one, in my opinion, is any better. The only difference is what programs each OS runs.
I love how they say there hardware is quality too. There is no quality about some piece of shit that is mass produced in a factory. There is good support for Mac hardware but fuck it's even more faulty than PC's, so why exactly would you pay more for it.

actualy you should look into barbones kits. Why buy a 4K computer from dell when you can spend 1k or less puting togehter a hardcore gaming computer. I saw a kit for 1K and you got a quad core with Duel SLI cards, i think a 500gig HDD and some other stuff and they included the power and it was liquid cooled.
You've got to be careful. Barebone kits tend to bundle very cheap parts together to cut corners. When you compare the cost of the actual parts they include, it tends to be almost no significant savings when compared to buying them separately. I've yet to see a cheap barebone kit that didn't ship with a seagate baracuda drive (google seagate baracuda+failed and see the # of results), and a low quality power supply. You should check reviews of every part in the computer before buying.
@Varonessor I tend to build my own computers with individual parts. I only get a bare bones kit when i like whats in it. I just upgraded my gaming computer with a new core 2 quad processor. Got it for cheap and it kicks ass now.

I hate Macs. I used one in 2000 in school we switched to Windows, and the Windows computer was way better.
Also the Mac converted one of my important TXT papers into an XML document, which at the time, the mac could not read... Now some will say that, "that was the old mac" So was the Windows computer.

I don't play games often, but in my experience, Macs tend to crash less when I'm rendering video FX and motion GFX. The only reason I primarily use a PC is because the software I use is updated first for PC and it's easier to transfer projects to my contemporaries since we all use the same platform. Otherwise I'd go Mac all the way (at least it's got Civilization).

But one thing all these anti mac spoofs "forget" to put in is that macs dont get viruses, they have better graphics cards unless you buy one, and they have A LOT more base memory than a PC. 1-PC didn't "take over" gaming. Developers just make more games for PCs. Don't ask me why, because I have no idea. But it's not this way to "keep" people on board, because this is the way it's always been.
2-Most gamers DO buy a graphics card. Unless you're playing, I dunno, Half-Life or something. And base memory is very simple to upgrade, too. A five-year-old can do it... I've seen it.
3-Upgrading doesn't always cost a lot of money. This one cost me about $200, and it does pretty well.

You're wrong. I built a AMD Phenom Quad Core 3.1 ghz processor, 16 Gigs of RAM, and an Nvidia 295 GT. Those specs are better than the best Mac you can buy. I built my computer for 400 dollars. Where as the computer you would be from Apple is somewhere around 2500 bucks.

1. PCs never "took over" gaming. Gaming on computers has ALWAYS been on PCs.
2. Macs "don't get viruses" because malicious code writers don't bother attacking a platform that most people dont use. They go where the people are at, Windows.
3. Better video cards? The $2500 17-inch MacBook Pro ONLY has a 9600GT while the Alienware M17x comes stock with a GTX260m @ only $1800. W/ desktops, the gap only widens.

5. I'm pretty sure PCs are much cheaper as far as price/performance goes. Build a PC with comparable specs to a Mac and THEN compare the total prices of each computer.
..Gamer friendly? You have to use Bootcamp and install a second OS (if using Mac OSX) to play the vast majority of games out there. That is NOT gamer friendly

I think I spent £700 on my PC, and it has a bigger hard drive, 2gb more RAM, a MUCH, MUCH better graphics card and a similar CPU to the cheapest iMac, which is £900.

Macs are all about the 'image'. Not the actual usability.
The designs of macs are so.... Plain, and boring. ANYONE can build a 'smooth' looking plain old case with no details built in, then slap in some hardware and create a flashy OS.
If Apple really cared about usability, they wouldn't of dropped the ball when they introduced the Macintosh.

Okay, listen up I'm both a mac user and windows XP user! I also just downloaded the windows 7 build, and own Leopard for my mac side. I use a macbook pro. Now I will admit, my hardware is somewhat 'under the bar' of what it should be. However, my mac still runs at a great, acceptable speed. As for XP/Windows 7, they too, run at the same rate as my mac side, which is, I assure you, a very nice speed.
So neither one, in my opinion, is any better. The only difference is what programs each OS runs.

1) Over-rated/hype("hey everyone, I own a Mac)
2) Over-priced (1.5 times)for entry hardware
(hey look, I have an 'awesome' "Intel Integrated Graphics")
3) Flaky, keyboard touch (i have seen many Mac fanboys struggle with typing, however they refuse to admit mac keyboards suck)
4) Glossy, cheap PLASTIC look/built.

@thinkpadgamer god forbid u ever try to OPEN a macbook. my bluetooth module suddenly stopped working. no big deal right? wrong. that led to the machine no longer being able to sleep. because bluetooth modules are naturally linked to system sleep...... :( anyway, after like 3 hours, i finally finished the job that would have taken 30 minutes with any hardware designed by a sane engineer. fuck mac.

actualy you should look into barbones kits. Why buy a 4K computer from dell when you can spend 1k or less puting togehter a hardcore gaming computer. I saw a kit for 1K and you got a quad core with Duel SLI cards, i think a 500gig HDD and some other stuff and they included the power and it was liquid cooled.

You've got to be careful. Barebone kits tend to bundle very cheap parts together to cut corners. When you compare the cost of the actual parts they include, it tends to be almost no significant savings when compared to buying them separately. I've yet to see a cheap barebone kit that didn't ship with a seagate baracuda drive (google seagate baracuda+failed and see the # of results), and a low quality power supply. You should check reviews of every part in the computer before buying.
