My oldest Zeiss lens is from ca 1914, and is a six element Doppel-Amatar. No antireflextion coatings, but still a great sharp lens with good contrast. The Zeiss Triotar, Tessar and Planar on my Rollei cameras (from 1930 - 1970) are superb. So if you either want the most modern or an antique camera you can shoot with a Zeiss lens.
You bedder buy the Samyang 35mm F 1.4 whit Canon orr Nikon mount. Its bedder and 3 times more less expensive.Only 500 dollars instead off 1500 dollars for the Zeiss. Both Zeiss and Samyang are NON AF.
@DemonCrucify I'm guessing Zeiss has some exclusive deal with Sony that doesn't allow them to design/build autofocus lenses for cameras made by other manufacturers.
I'm puzzled why SLRs are still being made in the digital era. The SLR design was originally developed as a necessary evil (instead of RF) to make through-the-lens viewing possible. But now we have electronic sensors behind lenses so there is no need to stick with the dinoSLRaurs. Two main problems with SLRs are mirror slap and weight/bulk plus the inability to acommodate wide angle lenses like Biogon or Hologon. It's necessary to use the optically inferior reverse telephoto designs instead.

Why don't Zeiss support autofocus? I'm sure if it can autofocus people would rather get the Zeiss than a canon or nikon lens

Sit down and think hard. Then you should be able to answer your own question and discover why :-)
