why isn't this on the nightly news!!!! every time i hear about families being wiped out by loving parents, i know it was the DRUGS--although if a person is over 30 though, it is not as bad ; the brain changes

I'm curious about something. Is there empirical evidence which shows a cause and effect relationship between antidepressants and suicide? Or are they just presumed to be linked to suicide? I do think that some people are overmedicated when they do not need to be. Indeed, some people who do not suffer from CLINICAL depression are getting the drugs In other cases, some people say that they are helped by these medicines. The thing is, each person will react a little differently to a drug.

That old "coming out of depression makes them prone" is not science, just a theory. It is the the same thing as getting worse before getting better ,and that is NOT medically valid and associated with quacks and false medicine.

I might be wrong, but there is something wrong here. 3D, i'm sorry about your loss. i am in no way pro-psychiatry, even after 10 yrs of prozac and other meds, with no side effects (i no longer take meds btw- 4yrs now). why was your sis taking prozac and she had no signs of mental illness? i've never heard of this. i want to be educated, please tell me.

people blame the drug for the suicides..but the people on the drug are depressed and therefore at a great risk of suicide reguardless of the situation..

not necessarily. The FDA warning shows the risk is double that of placebo. Many people also take the drugs for things other than depression, like anxiety, or insomnia, or as a precaution to prevent PPD, or even to stop smoking. The drugs are worse than no treatment at all.

See Yolande Lucire's website for the clinical research to support this statement. According to clinical trials, anti-depressents CAUSE suicide in people who aren't depressed to begin with. Giving depressed people drugs that causes suicide? Just because it doesn't make sense doesn't mean it isn't true!

I can easily understand how this drug could have directly caused the unfortunate demise of the victims cited in these testimonials. Of the countless side effects I experienced (depression, anxiety, a tremor in my right hand, headaches, extreme lethargy, lack of emotion, disconnected with self, God and man) the worst one was a buzzing or ringing in my ears so constant I could hardly bear it -- created in me a state dangerously close to psychosis.
