its amazing that all those hyenas dont try to take that kill,there must be an absolute in built fear of male lions in each hyena,and the big male lion didnt lok at all fussed by the attention of the hyenas.......do you know if the lion recovered?

Incredible how so many hyenas keep distance from lone lion.... The usual rate of equality is 4:1 hyenas to lioness.... Seems that it is 15:1 at male lions :D

This goes to proove the invicibility of the male lion. Imagine it is injured, yet almost twenty-five hyenas could nothing to it. Anyone who says hyenas are a match lions should be handed over to hyenas.

About 30 hyenas vs one wounded male lion, and the hyenas stll cant build up the courage to charge him. shows you how much hyenas respect male lions. and by the looks of the buffalo kill, the male lion had already had his share.

This has to been one of the most awesome "rivalries" in nature. Most animals only mark territories against other animals of their species.. but these 2 will mark it against each other.

On other videos you can see it'll start between 1-2 Hyenas and Lions and both will call for aid and can turn into major scraps.

depends what you mean by respect. Clearly by all the fights you can watch just on youtube they cross into each others territories, but doesn't mean they don't mark against each other.

Yes, I imagine the Hyenas know they have a better chance of stealing the lions kill if he is injured. But even though he is injured they are still well aware that they that a number of them could be injured or killed if they were to get into a fight. The Hyenas greatest asset is their strength in numbers. Our guide said rather than get in a fight they will try to distract the lion whilst one of them comes from, another direction to steal the kill.
