It's the only positive side to getting creatures like this. They really don't perform well in terms of the task I'd like them to perform, but often they're still quite fun to watch.
I suspect the transition from jumping to staying on the ground would go very quickly. It would probably only require a few mutations that disable most of the brain, leaving the creatures to just go limp.
Switch back again from staying on the ground to jumping might take longer. They would have to relearn how to jump.
Let's give it up for the #1 breakdancer of all time!

You should evolve a jumping creature, then change the fitness to time spent on the ground.
