Hm, this might be the first time I have ever heard this piece played well. Rafael Andia is the most wonderful and cultured Guitarists I have ever heard.
@TheAbe1212 Yeah, but I find Mr. Andia to to be a superior guitarist and I enjoy this arrangement for the piece most. That, plus not liking Segovia or his method could make me bias. Oh, and the pretty girls in the video helped.
How to rob a work of art of all its significance, brought to you by this arrangement. It now sounds like "Dueling Banjos" . That twangy accompaniment is utterly putrid beyond all description.
@Drakopulous The moment I require your permission to state my opinion, send me the appropriate paperwork. I fill it out, wipe my freshly moistened behind with them, and send them to you C.O.D. Grow a spine, you worm.
It's not a stupid question but in my opinion, because Rafael Andia transposed the song in A major, he needed a lower bass string so he added one on his guitar!
This is excellent. Pitty the recording is so bad. His arr is definitely refreshment to all others based on Tarregas. I think he adapted it for guitar even better then standard versions we are used to. His playing is also great. Only 5 stars are enough for this.
Fantastic . . At first I thought perhaps a too fast and passionate, but it took just a bit to realize that it is exactly how it should be played: substantial not clinical
old school playing uses more vibrato and a fuller tone. The strings are more played with a combination of flesh of the fingertip and nail. There is also more emphasis on melody than rhythm almost as if the guitar were singing.
The way the recording sounds all old is great, I wonder if it sounded as good in real life, this is the third time I watch it, I think it's as good as Bream's version.
What happened to the last note in the first statement? Maybe it makes sense when heard properly. The B sectioin is very lyrical. Sounds like a recording on a wax cylinder. If it was, I'd love it!
I really enjoy the playing of Mr. Andia. It has lots of personality! It's a pitty that the quality (of sound) is so distorted thru the compression into a webfile... But, I guess that's a good reason for buying his new CD!

I have no problems with something different but personally I don't think this is the way to play a Serenata.

@fernando5821 En vez de llenar el hilo de odio, acompaña tu opinión con un poco de música. Tanto prejuicio apesta, en serio.

I have a very stupid question, but I've never seen this before... Why is there one string that is "off" the fretboard?

its a D string

May be a D-string, but it's tuned in B, which means it's too loose. I recommend a C-string -- or why not B-string !

Don't like this version, the song loses its magic in its simplicity.
