I bought The Wild Places shortly before a backpacking trip in the San Juan mountains in Colorado and listened to it on a walkman while we were hiking over mountain passes. Even though I never met the man I always felt he was a kindred spirit. His music is timeless. Thanks again!

It's been 16 months he's been gone and it's still such a powerful sense of loss. There will NEVER be another Dan. I was blessed to meet him once, talk for about 10 minutes. Great guy in person. How I'd like to have a beer with him on the other side.

Just wondering-- did you know Dan? I think he was from that area-- when i head that he was gone, my heart hurt. As a young one, i didn't know his name, though i knew some of his songs-- "Leader of the Band" was that one that grabbed me when it came on, even when i was too young to really understand it. It's been 16 months he's been gone and it's still such a powerful sense of loss. There will NEVER be another Dan. I was blessed to meet him once, talk for about 10 minutes. Great guy in person. How I'd like to have a beer with him on the other side.

It's from the 4-Disc set release "Portrait" in 1997. The set contained a career retrospective of Dan's songs, along with a few unreleased gems like this one. Glad you enjoyed the song!!!

Wow- this just took my breath away. I have been a Dan Fan since 1975, when I was 17. I turned 50 three mos. ago.
Dan's music has always spoken to my heart and soul and has been a part of my life over the past 33 years.
This Video had me sobbing, as I am losing heart about alot of things right now and as usual, his music touched my heart.
Bless Dan, Jean, his Family and he is with the Lord and his Dad for almost a year now.

this song gave me a lot of hope in my last exams at high school.i was struggling in my exams and needed good grades to get into my chosen university.i managed to get decent gardes and now i am at the university of warwick in england to study bioscience course.the university is considered to be one of the top ten universities in britain!thank you dan.i miss you

Just wondering-- did you know Dan? I think he was from that area-- when i head that he was gone, my heart hurt. As a young one, i didn't know his name, though i knew some of his songs-- "Leader of the Band" was that one that grabbed me when it came on, even when i was too young to really understand it. That song pulled at my heart. This man had more than a talent. He had a gift. I hope that he is now with the Giver of the gift. Though i wish he were still here with us.

No, sadly I never met the man. I'm his age and saw him play in several little spots around here but never met him. He was a very private person. His dad was band director at the highschool here by me. What great songs huh?

I heard an interview he did where he actually addressed that - he says he's a very happy person, and loves to laugh. I have read from many others that he had a great sense of humor. The fact that he loves cats makes him all that much more sexy to me too!

Thank you for the gift of this video (I think it's the most beautiful tribute to Dan on the net). I've been a fan of Dan Fogelberg since the late 70s when I was in college. His music has always made me cry, smile, and long for more beauty. This particular song, along with his pictures, is like a soothing balm for me during a very rough time. I sure hope we get to hear Dan in heaven someday.

I just saw this video and laughed at your comment! I didn't think ANYONE else in the world knew about the "B" side of that old 45 rpm!!! I searched for it for years after hearing it in a campus juke box at Ohio State in the early 80's! I have had the "Portra1t" set for years, and only realized tonight (4/
