hi i have toshiba p100-216 which had nvidia 7600 go 512mb card which recently died due to overheating i suppose i want to change the card of it is it the possible.
@RareformEX I located the VGA card on impactcomputers {dot} com and sparepartswarehouse {dot} com, simply by googling the part number. You might want to check there. It's not cheap though. As for the CPU and memory, I bouth the CPU on eBay and the memory was direct from Kingston. You can also get the VGA card part by calling Toshiba's Canadian supplier, Metafore (if you live in Canada), though I am unsure of if they still stock the part.
I was given a Toshiba Satellite P100 PSPA3C-SD402E as a gift, it has a overheating problem with the CPU but that is getting fixed as we speak. Would I be able to upgrade this model to 7900 from 7300?
@RareformEX YES! The PSPA3C-SD402E is, in fact, the model you see being upgraded here - and the model I am currently typing on! The part number for the 7900 GS is A000006510
what model of p100 is it? iv read different opinions about the exact model being an issue for being able to upgrade, but im skeptical of corporate sincerity sometimes.
thanks for the video... it was my first time openning my Toshiba P100 and it was helpful to wash your video.
my problem is that I don't have anymore display on my screen eventhough my windows is charging and my applications working... working but without display...so i think that I've to put another graphics card (video card).
my question is should I just change Graphics Card Heatsink Fan like you did in this video or the entire video card.
thanks for the fast reply but know i have a bigger problem the laptop is dead doesnt start at all i checked everything but nothing happen even the light for battery an power is on too ... any idea what to do ?
@sonynguyen1326 You might be able to find it on sparepartswarehouse [dot] com, but the age of the laptop (almost 4 year old design) is makinging it increasingly difficult to locate parts for it... Let me know if you need the part number for the N7900GS card.
i have that exact laptop with the go 7900 gs. the heatpipe on the gpu dried out (core temp once went up to 130 C). the gpu is fine though, i rerouted the fan to point directly at the copper plate on the gpu(it provides sufficient cooling, keeping gpu core at 65 C.
im ordering a new heatpipe from newark. have you done any other mods to your machine?
eh, It might be easier to say what ISN'T modded on my machine. The only stock components remaining in the unit are the LCD, motherboard, POTS modem, touchpad, and heatsinks/fans. everything else - RAM, HDD, CPU, WLAN, GPU/VRAM, Operating system (Upgraded XP to 7), even the DVD drive have all been replaced.
@Historymaker2001 Hi, i would be really grateful if you give me advice. I have the P100 laptop with go7600 card in it and one day it broke down, my screen was black, but it did boot in the windows by the sound, after going with the safe mode it showed everything and i uninstalled the video drivers and it let me boot in windows again and on the screen appaered all over the screen dots, but i could be in windows. Do you think buying a new used graphic card like go 7300, my laptop would work again?
@Intz51 That sounds like the GeForce 7600 chip died. The P100s that use the GeForce cards all have the same connector and should be able to work with a 7300 or a 7900. I see no reason why your laptop would not work again if you installed a 7300. In fact, you might see better run time on the battery (though gaming performance will suffer...)
ive read online that you can upgrade to the gtx bios for th 7900 but alas toshiba has put too many lock on that option and i also noticed taht most people with dell laptops running 7900gs have clock speeds of 500 mhz as stock and memory at arnd 700 while my laptop is at a stock 375 and 500 for memory ......
i cant afford a laptop upgrade is there any other solution to improve the performance ....i also heard u cant use 800 mhz ram on this laptop the maximum is 667 mhz
ive ben tryin to play gta 4 on my laptop but am unable to play even at minimum settings theres a slight lag but initially before heating up the game play fine for like 3 minutes
could help me i have a toshiba Satellite Pro P100-465 with a NVIDEA GeForce Go 7600 graphics card,i was wondering if it is possible to upgrade this and if so what would fit,ur help would be much appriciated, cheers
also it has two 1 gig pc2 5300 ram cards in it,im looking to upgrade to two 2gig kingston pc2 6400,will that all work ok or do i need to stick to 5300 ram
i have a toshiba a100 with the GeForce go 7300 card, which sucks. can i upgrade mine? if i can't i'm going to buy a desktop soon, the A100 is great in all other ways i only need a newer CPU and a newer graphics card or GPU, whatever you like ;) thanks for response :)
Sadly, the only chips I see for your A100 are the GeForce 7300, the ATI Radeon X600 and the ATI Radeon X1300. The 1300 *might* offer some improvement in the graphics department, but not by an appreciable ammount, certainly not worth the $250 price tag. Just to make sure, yours is a straight A100, not an A105, right?
I have a Satellite P100 that has a Geforce 7600 Go card with 256 megs or video memory. The card is shot though so I need to get a new one. Toshiba wants $260 for a new one. Know where I can get one cheaper or even a different card that will work?
Sadly enough, Toshiba's unique design for the GPU boards means that there are only certain GPUs that you may use. My card cost me $515 CDN, and I got it from Toshiba's Canadian consumer supplier. There might be other options for you though. What is your exact model number? (it's on the unit's system label, mine is a PSPA3C-SD402E)
Unfortunately the only parts I can see from my available lists are for the 7300 GS and the 7900 GS/Ultra. I'll look a little deeper for your 7600, though
Sorry about my delayed replies... You certainly can. The 7600 was the "middle of the road" card for the P100s. If you want gaming power, the 7900 GS (Part A000006510) or 7900 GTX (Part A000006860) will be the optimum choice. It comes at a price though (not just a $500-$700 price tag), in that they drain the battery faster and the GTX requires a 120W power brick. If you don't need the gaming power, the 7300 GT (Part A000005200) will be sufficient.
i have a toshiba satellite pro p100 so i say thank you for the post as it allowed me to understand how to disassemble my laptop which i needed to do as i accidentally dropped a screw inside when upgrading the RAM from the standard 2GB of DDR 566Mhz RAM to
4GB 667Mhz RAM :D the motherboard layout is identical to yours except the internal components will be different as it is a different model also my screen is copper orange not blue or black as yours is :P
Hey dude sorry about the late reply, I've been up to my eyeballs in work. Yes, I am certain that you can upgrade the GPU in the A200 series of laptops. If I recall, you can get the ATI HD 2600 CPU as the top-of-the-line GPU for these notebooks. It's about on par with the GeForce 7900s and 9500s. Whats the GPU in your laptop now?
I believe so. I think the heftiest graphics card you can get for the A20X series is the ATI HD2600, which is on par performance-wise with the nVidia 7900GS. The Toshiba part number is V000101600, and costs $238.67 new from sparepartswarehouse.
the thing i just found out is that mine is integrated, and this is a toshiba A215...i have:
128 dedicated.
831 graphics memory free
but those 831 are not bieng used correctly the thing is that i should be having like almost 1 gb right???
and so am just using 128 for example with left 4 dead wich is an intermedium game.... it really sucks playing on low graphics and still can bearly type... please tell me how to increase graphics, i mean dedicated video into at least 256...
I believe so. The 7300 was what I upgraded from. The only concern is the current draw from the AC Adapter. Mine's a 90 watt adapter, and I am pushing the limits of that ATM...
Either the GeForce Go 7900 GS ($410 USD, P/n A000006510) or GTX ($688.75 USD, P/n A000006860). Unfortunately, Toshiba changed the VGA board form factor between the P100 and the P200/300, and the X-series uses a completely different design altogether. Be careful when putting the GTX in, as it is possible that you could overload the power supply if it sucks too much juice. The GS runs fine on a 90W PSU, but if you get the GTX, you may want a 120W PSU.
[cont'd] Note, upgrading the video card will also decrease your battery life. Both parts are available from sparepartswarehouse. In terms of new laptops, nVidia and ATI both have excellent lines of mobile GPUs, it just depends on what you want. Acer's 6920 and 8920 are budget priced notebooks with a hefty nVidia 9500 chip, and can be had (in Canada) for under $1100 CDN. Toshiba's X200's had dual nVidia 8600's but they aren't available any more in Canada...
Problem is I have an A200-10X laptop with an nvidia geforce go 7300, what sucks is that this graphic card really don't climb cliffs go figure mountains like Crysis and whatnot (talking about decent fps not the usual 10-15 i get)
Downgrading to xp proved helpful when it comes to CPU+RAM performance but very little boost were achieved graphics wise... And i really would like an affordable one if possible, 600 bucks would be a bit too much. Then again my fault for getting a laptop to game with xD
Not much is available for sub-600. You *may* get better performance out of getting a new VGA board. However, I found the ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 board available for the A200 will provide you with performance on par with my 7900 GS (3DMark 05 scores). It also provides you with more VRAM, 256 MB. The Toshiba part number is V000101600, and costs $238.67 USD new from sparepartswarehouse. Please see my precautions above when upgrading your vid card tho. The chip is also certed for Vista.
I'm planning to keep XP, not that it should be an issue, graphic drivers can be taken for both xp and vista, and losing certificate along the way is not a big deal for me. $200 is reasonable, but i'm weighing the possibilities of building a desktop rig myself, keep a 1000 budget and get better as well as more flexible (cheaper) results by recycling common hardware from the older computer. Thanks for the pm btw, grabbed my attention that way. I'll post and let you know my decision when i do :)
i have a satellite pro p100-465 and can see the build of it is almost identical to yours except mine has two cooling fans not one and mine has a really nice orange screen cover which stands out
i have taken mine to bits aswell and the insides are virtually identical to yours except the specifications of the components of course

Could I fit the same processor you have at the moment? atm has a T2400 1.8hz.
