We had a solar flare that hit Syracuse Indiana. It was just a few days ago. Even the air felt wierd. I was not able to get a pic of it, but there was also a white blinding light that shot out of the red wall . It almost completely surrounded us here. My sister is in Rochester Indiana and she saw it also. I also saw on the other side of red wall, some meteorites..I guess, shiny falling stuff. I have been sick ever sinse. It freaked me out for sure!

You try looking at the sun and you'll see it's not acting normal at all. It's flickering around the edges from what I can see.

I said last year that it also looked as if it moved further north from where I used to see it as a kid. but it's hard to tell that's for sure.

I don't think the solar flares of today are something we need to be alarmed at. For we are heading to a solar maximum in 2012. That's when the real big ones, if any, will be a problem. But so far all this stuff we are hearing that ELENIN is going to detroy us, then the solar flares and other stuff... it's all getting annoying because so far nobody is right. They were all duds and now all those that said this or that ain't got nothing to stand on anymore. Let's wait till a disaster then scream oh

I regularly shoot live video of the sun at between 200x & 600x magnification & I think someone somewhere has their wires crossed, the only really big full halo cme seen recently happened on the far side of the sun just off the western limb & therefore can't possibly head this way, there is expected to be very minor geo mag storming tomorrow from a flare that came off sunspot 1305 on saturday morning but it was only M1.2 so it's really no big deal...

A comet the size of Jupter, really?? Do you realise what something the size of Jupiter lurking around the innner solar system would look like viewed from Earth? Do you realise what a body with the mass of Jupiter would do to the inner solar system?

You cannot determine the size of an object from the SOHO images. The reason it looks big is because of the luminosity at that particular wavelength.

Comets hit the sun on a regular basis, it's normal.

I read the article and it never mentioned the actual size of the comet, which leads me to belive that you are pulling that out of your ass. As for the solar storm we have them quite often. Scientists aren't sure the cause of the CME, but they think it had something to do with the ionized gases interacting with the plasma. Although personally I think the comet and the CME are two very unrelated events.

You can take all of the solar system planets,put them in Jupiter,and there will be space left..it is so BIG.Object of that size cannot be a comet by any means.

Comets do hit the sun.Most of the times they do that there is an CME.It happens few times per year if you watch for it on soho.

If the grid goes down,it will be because they turn it off,not cause of CME..But they will blame it on the sun and we will swallow it
