I use a wireless Xbox360 controller... not so simply, given that you have to map some functions to the buttons and then remember where you mapped them (using the triggers to rewind or fast forward is simple, but where did I put the pause button?...). The big advantage of the wireless controller (and the respective receiver) is that it's RF, so you don't have to point it at the TV at all and can use it anywhere within transmission range (which is quite large).
P.S.: What I said about the Xbox360 RF is of course also true for the Wiimote's Bluetooth transmission. (As MythPyWii doesn't use the Wiimote as cursor, you probably don't need to point it at the TV either.)
What is the show shown in the video?

Gotta love that motion sensing speed control! Being a mythtv-user myself, I'm looking into getting a pretty simple remote, maybe the Wii will do!
Well put together, this demo - especially considering all the lame mythtv demo's ("look i can capture my screen!") here on youtube. Good job!
