  • Letterman -> Amish Style O.o

  • yes, Bill is a moron because he is basically sounding like a religious right win nut, only he does it from the opposite end of the spectrum and claims to be sane and knowledgeable, please. And idiots like you who blindly follow these kinds of guys are whats wrong with America. Celebrities are supposed to tell us how to believe and act, fuck that. Maher is just as nutty as the right wing religious morons are. Hypocrisy, this country is so fucking full of it.

  • WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT LETTERMANS BEARD. GET OVER IT YOU IDIOTS.

  • It was shortly after the end of the actors union strike.

  • How did Harold Shipman get an interviewing gig? (US residents: google him).

  • mucus & cackus LOL

  • Wait... a show host who can have a two-way conversation with a guest?! I didn't think those existed.

  • Wow, I didn't know Paul Krugman filled in for Letterman on his show.

  • Lol cool beard

  • letterman better than leno any day of the week

  • This is santas job on the other days of the year.

  • wtf????? wierd beard

  • lol, cawk

  • Bill, i love you man, but you're talking out of your ass and making a fool out of yourself with this quakery shit.

  • @Ghanjamon because america is a democratic country, though arguable, and most americans are stupid.

  • Bill has some good and some bad ideas in general, but this "pro-Eastern medicine" fad is one of the dumbest crazes, and it's sad to see someone so smart swept up with it. You know why all those medicines have that laundry list of potential side effects?, because if ONE patient in a study shows that symptom, it goes on the list for insurance purposes. But hey, Bill needs to placate his college-hipster demographic, and this is certainly something people who think they know everything fall for.

  • @JoeThreeler you think Bill is smart? lol

  • Comment removed

  • He's Santa! Get it?

  • Screw Bill Maher, mucinex is a miracle drug

  • what the fuck is with lettermans beard!?

  • @moroney1

He had it untill the strike ended

  • @Ghanjamon Crazy religious fanatics would assassinate him

  • Comment removed

  • @Ghanjamon cause he would be murdered....(kennedy flashback)

  • what the hell is up with dave's face

  • This spineless human arthropod attempts to sting and bite his victims with blase' elitist banter, gives one pause to chuckle. Poor wittle Bill... sad wittle man...

  • @Iamghostwriter1 "Wittle"--funny! Bill Maher is a comic with a particular gift for effective sarcasm & a particular contempt for our national silliness & superstition--& there certainly is plenty of that in our society, yes? "Spineless"--come on. Maher is one of the few media people who take on religious silliness in a meaningful & pointed way. So many people are afraid to. "Sting and bite"--Please. Religious people feel hurt when their beliefs are not cherished by other people.

  • @Ghanjamon I'm sure you learn a ton of shit when you GET the presidency. All of the candidates break promises when they get into office, I'm sure its a shitton of information they receive that offsets their campaign promises.

  • @Ghanjamon Because stupid people are the majority in America. They don't want an elite in office. They think elitism is bad.

  • I could listen to Letterman giggle all day

  • @Ghanjamon BECAUSE, he is everything you just described. And our presidents? Not so much.

  • Nice beard Dave hahaha

  • Wait......is it me or...waht the fuck happened to Letterman's Beard?

  • @Ghanjamon I mostly agree. However, there are two things about which he is unequivocably wrong: He has very odd beliefs concerning medicine and vaccination in particular. He also is very dismissive of the right of victims' families to have a -real- investigation into the events of 9/11 in response to the evidence not fitting the official story. He won't even give them a chance to speak and is terribly and wrongly closed minded on the issue, and lumps them in with conspiracy theorists.

  • @Silvertaker Yeah thats one thing that always confused me. Not so much his ideas of health, but the

way he dismisses the possibility of a 9-11 coverup. Everything else about him points to someone who would

wholeheartedly support that concept, but he doesn't. Never got that.

  • @SinceretheGhost I think he is afraid of being marginalized by supporting the inquiries of the families and workers of 9/11 who see clearly that the official story is bunk. Either that or he doesn't understand that wanting a new investigation, quite rightly, does not mean you think Jews did it, or Bush did it, or any of the various theories out there. These people simply want to know WHAT happened. They almost never put forward their own theories, they simply ask questions.

  • @Silvertaker Yeah that's a good point I never thought of it that way. I'm sure he realizes that

any questioning of it, as unfortunate as this may be, groups you in with the whole lot of people. And

he knows that will only give people who oppose his progressive views more fuel for their fire, in

attacking his credibility as a media figure. Damn shame. He would be a great spokesmen for such a worthy and just cause.

  • for your health!

  • just fyi, maher isnt an atheist as he believes in god and not religion..

  • Bill made some great points about the poison the pharmaceutical companies are peddling----Lots of americans are being poisoned by LEGAL Pharmaceutical drugs, drugs with side effects that SHOULD make them illegal---If we had an FDA that wasnt completely owned by the very co's (Both Big Agra and Big Pharma) that they're supposed to be regulating!.

  • Maher will never be elected in this country because the majority of the fear mongering religious right will never vote for him because he promotes true separation of church and state and what most Christians in this country really want is a limited democracy.

  • "What does he have to do? Dunk?" Lmfao.

  • letterman looks like a biblical figure

  • BILL MAHER FOR PRESIDENT!!

  • Zionist. LOL I laugh at that. He is a huge supporter of Israel but he supports them for all the right reason, unlike the Conservatives and the Tea Party.

  • Letterman's epic beard :p

  • @Ghanjamon Why would you want another Zionist for president?

  • @Ghanjamon I completely agree, but he is considered too far left and "godless". The redneck Jesus freaks would never allow that to happen.

  • @Ghanjamon I am all for Bill Maher, but he is not smart enough for the US precidency. If you like him, you would vote for him, but he would have a hard time reaching the republican base, the christian base, the traditionalists, the working class, military personel etc. . Bush won, like Bill Maher coined it, "because he is a type, everybody would feel comfortable, having a beer with", Obama because he has been very careful not to alienate any of the above.

  • @Ghanjamon Bill Maher will never be president because the owners of America would never allow it

  • @Ghanjamon I would love Bill to be President but it would be tough for him because the Tea Party would demand his Birth Certificate because they dont know New Jersey is a state.

  • @Ghanjamon The real problem is that no sane human being would WANT that job...lol. I guarantee Bill wouldn't. It seems like about 98% of it is just taking shit, nonstop, from all sides, whether you deserve it or have absolutely nothing to do with it. Obama just got OBL, the boogey who haunted our country for a decade, and he got a modest bump that everybody says will evaporate because gas prices are high. You can't win.

  • its good to see that there's at least 1 american who is actually sane

  • 1:08 bill swears to god.....don't ruin it BILL!!

  • because of all the things you just said. telling the truth, speaking your mind, thats not what politics is about, polar opposite actually.

  • Right on...Bill Maher for President.!!

  • a freak talking to a pervert lots of chuckles here

  • I don't agree with Bill Maher on a purely scientific standpoint, but I do love his chutzpah

  • @Strand0410 Don't agree with him on what? Elaborate?

  • Whoa Dave what's with the beard..

  • Gotta love Bill.

  • the first cock and the first primary are in iowa? rad

  • Did this platypus faced snob dip his head in a bucket of bull jizz before he came out???

  • Holy shit! Dave looks like the UniBomber!

  • Maher swears to God but he's atheist. what a tool.

  • @swine74 A common expression doesn't carry any implication of someone's belief...

  • @swine74 It's a figure of speech dipshit. You're the tool.

  • Bil is pure genious!!

  • @supermario103 Nah he just smokes it all lol

  • Dave looks like an older version of Robin Williams from Good Will Hunting.

  • Should Magic Johnson get off of western medicine?

  • @canucksfan94 He shouldn't have fucked so many dirty ass bitches that's for sure.

  • "voiced by Antonio Ban-da-ras" it's Banderas you bone head lol

  • two great comedians. they should do a partnered Stand-Up act

  • and 86 of them were pop-up books

  • Obama's not black. He's half white. Why isn't that mentioned?

  • @filoIII because it doesn't matter, that's the whole point

  • @filoIII for the same reason nobody discussed George W Bush or Bill Clinton being white.

  • @filoIII hes not not black though, only half

  • you could run am syrup lol its conversion of sugar lol

  • @zephranna01 Maher? Smart? This guy once said communism was a religion. He neither smart nor funny. But I agree on Letterman being lovable and stupid.

  • I'd love to have a few pints of Guinness and a chat with Bill Maher.

  • Gunna kick mucous' asss!!!

  • btw, Obama isnt black. he's just as much white. We do not have a black president. we have a half black president.

  • @xxSushiP4NTSxx

WHO GIVES A FUCK IF HE'S HALF BLACK OR NOT.

  • Comment removed

  • big nose

  • mucus and caucus

  • No, Bill, Mucinex is just guafenesin which thins mucus so it can flow out of your body better and not clog up and stagnate in your lungs or sinuses. And nasonex just is an anti inflammatory to shrink nasal tissue that swells from allergies. 2 bad examples to prove your point

  • I can't stop staring at that beard!

  • Well, I got huge respect for Bill Maher's view, and knowledge of religion but he's anti-medicine and anti-vaccine. That is a lot of crazy right there. Take a heart patient, he will die if he or she doesn't take the pills. Bill Maher's against using pills cause the 'major corporations' got an agenda and want to enslave and slowly kill us with useless medicament's.

  • @slask25 He isn't talking about life essemtiel medicne, but prozac, painkillers and so on.

  • @iekp He is anti-vaccine.

  • @slask25 I really don't understand his anti-vaccine stance considering that Maher is a proponent of science and we basically have every scientist behind vaccination.

  • @Kuriku24 Neither do I. I can understand being critical to doctors who prescribe drugs way to easy to people who don't need them, but being anti-vaccine doesn't make any sense. Without vaccines, old diseases would spring up again and run rampant through the populatian.

  • The pharmaceutical corporations are pushing vaccines that could be harmful. I'm not talking about polio vaccine; I'm talking about limited regulated flu shots. Giving a child seven vaccines in a day is dangerous, but doctors suggest it.

  • @87fg I can understand the need for such nuanced arguments. But the problem is that Bill comes off as so anti-vaccine, it just makes me seem like he encourages not getting people vaccinated. And ultimately, when Bill doesn't cite facts and scientific studies, it just paints him as delusional. Besides, there's nothing wrong with the flu shots. It's ineffective probably, because the strain changes from time to time, but it's not dangerous.

  • @Kuriku24

Flu shots are definitely dangerous... Look at the ingredients in them. Do you ever know? Don't claim something you think just because you think it.

  • @Einz2 No they are not. I know because I'm a scientist and have read the research. Most of the anti-vaccine studies are poorly done, and even the most infamous paper of them all (the vaccine=autism) paper was retracted because it falsified data. Before you start on the ingredients, you need to pay attention to the AMOUNT of those ingredients. The minuscule amounts used in vaccines are physiologically irrelevant, and your body produces more toxic substances naturally than any of these vaccines.

  • @Kuriku24 If they're physiologically irrelevant, then why are they there?

  • @ender003 @ender003 They're not there on purpose. Vaccines are obviously very well purified, but traces are always going to be found. If you avoided everything just because of trace amounts of contaminants, then you'd be screwed (i.e. potato chips have carcinogens in them). But my point was the trace amounts of contaminants are too low to cause anything bad to the human body.

  • 12 pharmaceutical companies watched this video.

  • we're gonna kick mucus's ass!

    AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!!

    fuckin morons.

  • Bill Maher gets it, he just totally gets it.

  • bill maher is my hero

  • he looks like Ivan Ooze from power rangers

  • EPIC MUSIC AT THE END

  • Bill maher can talk some shit western medicine being posioned, what bollocks.

  • @fintanio actually it is controled doses of poison and some things only supress symptoms and cause of illness is hapily continuing to ruin your body and also if you take pills for something that can be fixed by good night sleep then you are damaging yourself

  • heres a great way to clusterfuck these anti socialists..........."you dont like socialism? then don't call 911 :))

  • @praetorian2150 You left out a few things! Don't go to a public school, don't use hospitals, don't use the interstate system, and make sure you dont consume anything approved by the FDA. Cuz you know, all those "socialist" programs are destroying America!

  • I think Bill might be suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect when it comes to medicine.

  • Fuck me raw!

  • LMAO david's beard LOLZ

  • And dont get me wrong, Im not saying evolution isnt a reality, its clear life adapts and evolves, because it is designed to, its meant to evolve on its own! Things dont just happen by total random chance, my arent we lucky then that we made it this far! I mean totally by accident, 21st century human civilization exists in the universe...when it easily couldve went the other way and have no life at all. Thats a crock. Life is MEANT to exist, the universe is DESIGNED to produce life that evolves.

  • @FightingForFreedom23 ...CLEARLY it seems like a design, but we're smarter than that Bronze-Age myth now. There is enough evidence that other memburs of the genus homo did not have many of the bodily defenses we have thousands of years later. Please research a bit closer...

  • I dig the beard David!

  • @Mysteryskatin

    NEXT: pimp cane

  • lol @ davids beard.

  • "Is he black enough? What does he have to do, dunk?" LOL

  • OK this seals it.

On the Craig Ferguson show, Bill disrespected Hindus and went on and on promoting his great film, Religulous.

I liked him a lot, but here he says "I swear to God."

Fucking hypocrite, double-talker, imbecile business man.

    Fuck him, he's phony.

  • @Bagelbutcher Saying "i swear to god" is a figure of speech it doesn't mean you are religious. I say "jesus fucking christ" when something goes wrong, does this mean that i think jesus is my lord and saviour? of course not, im not a fucking idiot

  • @Bagelbutcher "Swear to God" is more of a common phrase that just means "Honestly". Has nothing to do with the man in the sky. Just like non-christians celebrate christmas.

  • @schadenfreudelolz22 Except Christmas isn't a christian event...

  • @LiBlub1 The popular perception of it is, which is why its CHRIST-mas. I know the history is different.

  • @schadenfreudelolz22 In most languages it's not.

  • @LiBlub1 valid point

  • @schadenfreudelolz22 actually it all began as a winter solstace event in a pagan religion.. the "christ" people kind of butted their way in during their crusade for world domination. :)

  • @jennamarisco lol, yes, I'm aware christ people hijacked everybody else's religion and claimed it all as their own. All I've been (trying) to say is that today, to most people in North America, Christmas is seen as a christian day that atheists still enjoy. I'm having trouble getting that through to LiBlub1 though :(

  • The point is that western medicine isn't concerned about cures, it's concerned about treating the symptoms. And that's because of the 'wonderful' profit motive. It's more profitable to continuously treat symptoms than it is to try your best to cure the illness. Profit is a higher concern than people's health in this system. Everything is run like a business. And if you don't know by now, business is ruthless and has no regard for who it might affect.

  • Hey Dave You could play a great Sigmund Freud lol

  • Ask your doctor about Nasonex

  • Holy crap! Why ....can't he afford a razor?

  • @mymindisajigsaw

    it's only a beard don't be afraid

  • @TheEvilelvis89 I'm not afraid lol.....it just looks like shit......I don't like beards that much.....especially when they are not taken care of....

  • In Canada, they cannot tell you in advertisements what prescription drugs are for. The Cialis and birth control commercials are rather entertaining. But yeah... it's insane how they advertise drugs in the States though.

  • Oh wow, he said "I swear to God" right in the beginning LOL. That is so not Bill Maher.

  • Bill Maher is awesome.

  • gnarly beard

  • Dave looks like a fucking werewolf here

  • is dave appearing as general robert e lee somewhere after the show?

  • All they need is Castro and Chavez and they'd have a perfect foursome.

  • i like bill maher in general, but he is very, very very wrong about ethanol and western medicine.

true, if you make it from corn, it doesn't work, but making fuel from food is long gone, we have way better stuff for that now, like alge and every kind of organical waste. and yes, western medicine is relatively slow in developing new things that we actually use compared to other fields of science. and it's way to commercialized in the us. but it works damn fine here in the civilized world.

  • @rasmAn2 He's right about ethanol, and hes right about some of the things he said about western medicine.

  • @AsSomedayItMayHappen

and your reasoning behind that statement is?

  • @rasmAn2

It's too space intensive and there are way better alternatives.

Secondly, western medicine is quick to try and reduce symptoms but not the CAUSE of the disease. I'm not saying this is always the case but it often is.

  • @AsSomedayItMayHappen

it's not space intensive, because you wouldn't have to grow anything for it. and even if it would be, there is loads more agricultural space on this planet if we work together and forget about the opec for a second.

what way better alternatives do you have in mind? i dare you to say hydrogen or electricity:P and keep in mind that the tech for ethanol is already available and inplementable on todays cars and infrastructure.

and on medicine, sort of right.

  • @rasmAn2 What about butanol? Its better for the environment, easier to produce, has a better energy density, and wouldnt be that hard to manufacture to run in cars.

Im not saying that western medicine is bad, and I dont think Bill Maher was either. But there are definitely pitfalls, just as there are in "homeopathic" and eastern medicines. Lets not pretend that western medicine is perfect.

  • @AsSomedayItMayHappen

butanol is also made from biomass, so the agrocultural impact would be the same. however ethanol can also be made from cellulose, butanol can't, so in that way it's worse. it also has a way lower octane, so ethanol can run at higher compression ratios, making the engine more efficient.

yes, it's emisions are better when mixed with petrol, but ethanol can run very well when it's less refined, ea: with a lot of water still in it, making it's octane even higher.

  • @AsSomedayItMayHappen however, i'm glad to see your'e not blindly following the new-californian-let's-go-electric-hippie-crowd and instead come up with a reasonable alternative, but keep on doing research and be sceptical!

on medice: no it's not perfect, but it's a damn side better than faith-healing and other "cures"that have no evidence whatsoever backing them up. and i know what bill maher actually means is that if you are 40 kg overweight and never walk your not healthy, but still

  • @rasmAn2 I'll get back to you on butanol, and maybe I'll leave you a pm, because its too complicated to get into here.

As for medicine, I agree with you completely. Faith-healing, and a lot of these b.s. self-cures are so bogus and dont work. But yeah, prevention at the source I think is something often ignored, and doctors are way too quick to prescribe medications.

  • @rasmAn2 Okay. My friend is an expert on this and we spent some time discussing it in depth.

Firstly, butanol doesnt need to be refined since it is immiscible in water. And thats one obvious advantage.

Secondly, the octane rating is lower than ethanol, but its still fairly on par with gasoline. And the energy density is about 50% higher so, and neither of us is sure how you can argue against that in terms of agricultural impact.

  • @AsSomedayItMayHappen

i myself happen to work as a researcher on these matters, and have spend the last 1,5 years on developing new ethanol blends (sadly my grand was only for ethanol, since it was in a larger study together with other uni's to make a true well to wheel plan of producing said fuel). the results should be publised in a year or so, and i'm not really alowed to go into details here.

point is, why search for something on par with petrol? why not for something better?

  • @rasmAn2 On par in terms of octane rating, far superior in every other way.

  • @rasmAn2 Furthermore, genetic engineering HAS made it possible for butanol to be made from cellulose and that makes it a very good alternative candidate.

  • nice beard

    let it grow Dave

  • See these shoes, I tied them ! LOL...Bill Maher, keep up the good work

  • Dave looks weird with a beard

  • 1:09...

  • I think Conan also had a beard during the strike..to protest

  • What is up with the awesome beard on Dave? Was this during the writers strike?

  • You can set your TV colors..to Bill's shirt.

  • Letterman in a beard? Weeeird!

  • pompous look* "see these shoes?" turns up nose* "I tied 'em...no biggie"

    LOL

  • Whoa... the beard on Dave.

  • Can anyone tell me who he swore on at @1:10 ?! And by 'anyone' I mean anyone who saw Religulous..

  • Bill I like your show, but your views in health are almost equally stupid as creationism. To think that a medicine shouldn`t have side-effect to some people is just fucking crazy. Every body is different, so to make a drug that is not harmful for anybody is just impossible.

  • @jorge9705 your a creationist?

  • what's with the beard on Dave ?? good thing he shaved it off....was he trying to look like Moses ?

  • @xadam2dudex HA-HA that or trying for his own cough drop
