  • Unbelievably funky

  • Beautiful, my friend. Just beautiful.

  • NICE. what kind of bass is that, it has a great tone.

  • good work

  • Awesome! bass gods would be proud man

  • man what bass is that? looks and sounds very sexy

    awesome cover man

  • This was unexpectedly good! It super clean. Your slaps aren't too dirty so you stay true to this smooth style you have here. Only thing I would change is to turn the drums down or the bass up.. You're too skilled to get drowned out by a drum loop (:

  • is there any way i can get the tab for the intro? i love how it sounds

  • your so good!!!!

  • buen groove tambien buen bajo viejo...

    mix wooten

  • Realy good job man! But with my 5 string i found it harder to cover these sorts of songs. did u get that with yours??

  • This was a great cover/improv of a Wooten classic. Great job! :D

  • At 0:05, you did this really quick slapping thing that I've wanted to learn for a while. Post a lesson, please!

  • @hiphopsucks96 those are called triplets, look them up, they have many lessons online

  • hey! very nice :D

    what's your tuning?

  • Thanks, man. Just standard 5 string tuning: B-E-A-D-G

  • @KingOfPain35

Nice sound!! Is this a pre-Gibson Tobias?

Can you tell me what Bartolini preamp and pickups do you have on it?

I'm asking bc I own one like yours (mine is a 6 str, though), but the electronics on it seem a bit dull for a Bartolini setup on a Tobias bass. I would appreciate your feedback very much!

    Thanks!

  • That guy is no newbie! Who ever says he sucks is completely, entirely, fully ignorant about musical knowledge. If I was good like that on bass, I'd start my quest of success in the musical industry. Break a bone KingOfPain35!!

  • im definitely learning this song by ear this is just sick!!!!

  • bien chino

  • well, better than me. and it's good to see bassists that actually play bass, instead of just bassists who were guitarists that didnt think they were good enough.

  • well done sir. how did you learn to play like that?

  • Good, pretty good ! great job guys !

  • Wow! U´have the Groove man!!!

  • Great jam. One of the funnest. You really grooved!

  • Yeah that is great stuff!!!

Nicely controled groove. gotta love the dynamic.

  • nice stuff!! its in the e's and the a's ;)

  • i loooooooooooooove your bass, how much?

  • jeeaaaahhh

  • It's great.. that's true amateur justice

You should be lookin to get that pro hat to put on

  • Sick, you are really cool.

  • Like your sound! The jam is also good! :D

  • Nice nice nice. Rock On Brother!!!!

    JOEDRUMS

  • Nica Job man, 5*. Thanks for sending me this.

  • WAY cool....SEND me a groove you want played!

i never heard back on the one I sent,,,,,, it might have been too choppy.

  • Tight and groovy! Very nice! No need to go easy on ya, you did a great job! 5 stars!

  • Loved it!

  • el bass se escucha muy bien

    tiene un toque perron

  • Fuckin sik man! and a great song to cover aswell, nice talent and taste dude, peace!

  • that's awsome, i wish i would play it that well. great job, keep it up.

    BASS FTW!

  • that looks like a gerald veasley bass

  • There is a big diffrence between a Ibanez and a Tobias!!!

    Like...... SOUND

but i see what you mean ; )

  • That's simply just amazing. You wouldn't have a tab by any chance would you? If not, I'll just keep dreaming haha

  • Oh you are amazing man. I read that you buy to a friend your bass that was stolen, that´s amazing, if I loose my bass I don´t know what I will do.

Nice Tobias bass but honestly I like much the MTD´s

  • That's what is call Groove! U are really groovy man! Great playing and technique.Sound good!

  • Hmmm I could cook up a groove and let you go nuts!

  • Nice one dude. You got some groove there. And nice technique. Though I don't like that drum machine... xD

  • veeeerrrrrryyyyy nice

    spot on man, perfect

    such a nice basss!!

  • wow man. youre a little hard on yourself areny you? you need no forgiving!

very groovy, awesome tone. everything is clear and precise.

the bass gods would be proud!

  • friggin' great. very inspirational.

  • very very cool dude (:

  • very awesome. I dig what you dig with the two songs. I think it made them even groovier. Aside from the drums was everything done live (as in nothing prerecorded)? And how would you suggest working on double thumbing? Finally, pleeeeeeeease do a tutorial for Sex in the Pan, lol

  • man you got good groove keep it up

  • YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAH BOY!!THats HOT

  • Man I am sorry but you sound so sweet on that bass that's funky.

  • i'm sorry it's a classic, the video don't showe an ideal HD. The sound is the same!

  • This is a Tobias Basic with Bubinga, not classic. I've the same, it's simply fantastic and a little bit better than classic for tone versatilty.

King, how old are your fantastic bass?

  • Right, I'm pretty sure it's a Classic, but I've been wrong before. lol.

This bass is about 9 years old. The amazing thing about it, is that it was stolen from me, but I got it back 5 years later. I can never get rid of this bass now because it is the "Bass that came back home". haha

  • How did you get it back?

  • A friend, whom I had only ever met ONE time a year and a half earlier, bought it used from a music store.

One day, I just happened to be in this same music store and ran into him. We started talking shop and he mentioned he was selling a couple of basses on Ebay, an upright and a Tobias. I started telling about how I loved my zebra wood Tobias, but it had been stolen. He said, "Yeah, this one is zebra-wood too."

  • So I told him I was interested in maybe buying it. When I saw it, I knew. Old pictures that I had of it proved that it was mine, the fingerprint-like wood grain. I went ahead and bought it from him since I had gotten insurance money for it 5 years earlier. That was a pretty happy day.

  • Thats awesome. I have a Warwick Rockbass Corvette and even though its not near as nice as yours i still don't know what i would do if i lost it

  • hmm i got a rock bass streamer and its pretty nice (really good for slapping), how is the corvette?

  • Its awesome. I love it.

  • Awesome i had to comment again hahahaha

5 stars for the bass and 5stars for the play!

  • awesome! 5 stars!

  • is that a tobias growler?

  • Classic.

  • FUCK!!! great tone...5 stars

  • Where'd you get the drum track? All solid. GREAT TONE!

  • I use drum sequencing software called Reason 4. Good stuff there.

  • Yeah, that's some shuffle loops from the Dr. Rex looper

  • Exactly. Dr. Rex is convenient, but I need to work on my sequencing skills to build some of my own.

  • Try Redrum drum sequencer... it's pretty easy to use with the Roller Keyboard

  • Sound funky and kool ! Tell be what bass are you playing ? I am thinking of either buying a tobias killer b or a peavey cirrus this week online. Any suggestions ? What tone wood is used in your bass also ?

  • Thanks, Bro.

It is a Tobias Classic 5 Zebra wood. I can't remember the wood of the neck... I want to say bubinga, but it's probably something different.

I'm not completely certain, but I would probably go with the Killer B over the Cirrus, although the higher-end Cirrus basses are pretty nice. They sound a little like a Ken Smith.

  • Awe-fucking-some

  • favorited

  • dude this is pretty great.

  • that's great! i loved especially your "sex in a pan" part! =)

  • what bass is that and how much did it cost

  • It's a Tobias of some sort, possibly a Basic or a Growler.

As for price, depends on the wood, that is a proper bass. Not a Fender.

  • it's a Tobias Classic with Zebrawood, I also have an Aguilar preamp in it. It originally cost $2400, but I managed to get it during a special sale for $1600. The bass was stolen from me a couple of years after I bought, but I managaed to get it back five years later by a total fluke. I love this bass.

  • nice man.....

  • Thanks, man.

  • fucking amazing man.

    thanks for humbling me.

  • ddddam

  • dam u got skills

  • DAMnnnnnZZZ Lovin Your BASS dude

  • Very nice, it's excellent. You should try slapping the muted notes a little harder though, it sounds much better imo.

  • Very good, dude. Five stars from me.

What kind of bass is it?

  • Thanks, man.

It's a Tobias Classic Zebra wood... I think.

It has Bartolini pickups with an Aguilar preamp.

  • nice grooves man. i have the killer b-5 (bubinga) and absolutely love the tone and playability. those bartolini's are mean!

  • This is pretty sweet, good job!

  • what exactly are you doing with that arpeggio slide you do in the beginning?

  • I got the technique from a guy named

Ric Fierabracci. He plays bass for Yanni.

    Yeah, Yanni.

    It's fairly simple to do.

Just drag your right hand index finger across all the strings while muting bottom stings and sliding down on the E string with your left. Makes for a nice percussive lead in which I overused here. ha.

  • hey. minhenso said you were the weakest bassist that he'd ever seen. you shouldn't take that. hunt him down and kill him. i'm serious.

  • It's alright, you gotta expect a bit of jealousy to surface from those that would hide their own weak skills behind the anonymity of the internet... and a completely empty cache of their own videos. What up?

  • indeed theres a lot of jealous bass player, dont care ;)

  • pretty sweet jam, and nice tobias as well. check out some of my videos

  • meu amigo tú é o baixista mais fraco que eu vi tú é mutio ruim cara,ei esculta e execulta esse conselho DESISTE

  • English, please?

  • You're right. It's just a jam. you've got skills by the way, I can't wait to see your version.

  • verrry great job man!!

  • You're sick as all hell.

  • You can! ...for a special introductory offer of $19.99 if you act right now! ;)

  • Thanks, Nat. I managed to plug straight into the computer so I didn't have to struggle with a mic... I struggled with everything else. Ha!

I can't wait to get home and make some more.

  • Extremely neat and tidy indeed! Yes please more. The sound quality is tops!

  • Thanks! I'm sure things will get better as I figure this stuff out...
