  • I have been using the epson 1270, then 1280 for many years and have spent a lot of money getting the waste ink pads replaced as I didn't want to undertake the task. I just reset the counter about a month ago and was looking through youtube to find out how to replace the pads. Your video is a great surprise!

  • thanks this helped a lot

  • Thank you for taking the time to do this! I am very frustrated with the planned short life span of Epson Printers. I am on my second Artisan 835 because of the waste ink pad issue.

  • thanks for the video.i appreciate it very much. and about epson tx121? pls it's sweetess077@yahoo.com. thanks.

  • Wonderful video. Alas, the application at the website is Windows-only. Any software that can do this on a Mac? Thanks for a great video, and I would appreciate any suggestions.

  • @bobbo924B I'm not aware of any programs for the mac that will do the job but if you can get access to a windows machine from a friend or family just for the purpose of resetting your printer it would solve the problem, hope that helps.

  • @pauldazeley I know this might be a bit late, since ur post is 5months old, but afaik mac os x is unix-based therefore any program that works for this on linux *should* (as long as it's posix) work on the mac, tho' u might need to do a bit of comand-line scripting. (i've never owned a mac, but i managed to fix an adminstrator-rights problem for him) anyway if this is no use to u, my apologies, maybe it helps someone else :-)

  • My Epson stylus C82 acts like it is going to print but nothing goes on the paper when it is done. I checked the Ink but it is still wet What should I do? cant get it to print.

  • Nice work, one caveat ?

Be sure bottle is vented and low enough to allow the ink to actually flow/drip into it

  • the link to the software no longer works!

  • Awesome! Thanks for the video. It helped me.

  • One problem I see is having a pipe that is to contain liquid it will back up due to it having to go up hill. So you would in fact have to have this bottle lower than the printer.

  • i thought its going to evaporate!

  • hi, i have Epson SX 215 how can i reset this one?

  • Used this method to convert my epson , very pleased with this tutorial 5*

  • A great idea and thanks for sharing!

  • Hi,

Thanks for the great information. I have an Epson PHOTO1410 when I get home I will see if I can do the same with it. Again Many Thanks. Barry.

  • Excellent video !!! Great explanation , thanks !

  • A Great video.

One thing though,... put a small air vent in the lid of your bottle (pin hole) to stop back pressure blowing the ink back up the tube and into the printer again.

  • @ozzirt My apologies, I never read the other posts. :-)

  • so does that mean once you reset the counter and rig up this setup that you will never have to reset it again?

  • @Gb755c No it just resets the counter back to zero and then it will start counting again but you reset it again but it takes a while so its not a pain.

  • does it have this on all epson printers??

  • @smexable all ink jets as far as I am aware.

  • never could find the software on the site.

  • Very good idea. One problem I saw ( or maybe I missed that step) is that the top of the bottle needs to be vented. a filter needle would work good so log as the doesn't touch it. If the filter gets wet, the air won't pass through it. Without a vent, the positive pressure from within the bottle is going to put a strain on the pump and make it wear out sooner than later.

But other than that, good stuff!

  • @jbaumhauer Yes I agree and although it is not in the video I have commented several times saying that the bottle must be vented but thanks for poiting it out once again.

  • A really well done and detailed instructional video. Also lots of limey charm. Kudos!

  • Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

I've actually 2 of these printers. I've had them some years now, and have invested in a CIS, so will be applying your mod tommorow.

    Much Appreciated.

  • @ServiceProcess do make sure that the bottle that the waste goes into has a vent hole. ie it is not air tight else the printer will not be able to push the ink into it...hope that hepls.

  • @DebenDave

    Thanks very much Dave.

Have added vent hole as suggested.

It's all done and working Now. So very much appreciated.

Have done it on 3 printers. r300.

The advantage for me as you cite, is added longevity for the printers.

As I have invested in Continuous ink systems etc, so printing

    is hyper cheap.

    An absolute top mod.

    Rgrds.

  • This is great but I cannot find the page for the counter reset. A message says that the page cannot be found. Would you be kind enough to send it to me.

    Thanks.

  • i just got this message on my R200 so thanks for this video. my only question is what SIZE tubing and connectors to look for at an aquarium store. i would imagine that stuff could come in a wide range of sizes.

  • Very good video! I suggest to put your printer model number in your title so people can find this video for their printer. Have a good one!

  • @SuperToBuy no becuase it applies to many printers but thanks for your comments.

  • Thanks. What do you do with the pad already full of ink? Does it affect any sensors in the printer?. I didn't receive the message of waste or expired parts on my Epson Stylus cx3900 and it is not loading the page completely, it assumes the paper is loaded and starts printing, which makes the ink to be deposited on the pad, it is also consuming all the ink in the cartridge. Can you tell me something about this.? thanks.

  • @fasttyper888 If it is a pad you normally cant take it out so just leave it. I thik there must be some other problem with the printer. Always a good idea to reload the driver though.

  • i've got a Epson Stylus sx 205 I bought it around a year ago now. I dont see it list is there any way this resetter program will work on it. many thanks

  • Great video .Many years ago i had a 580 and it came up with the service message and I was told it wasn't worth reparing ,but I hunted around and found out it was a software problem and I was able to reset the counter and on this model it was quite easy to clean the ink pad.How many printers like this have ended up in land fill sites???? Thanks alot for your help.

  • Very well explained. I have R1800, had it for about 2 years. No problem yet. Should I connect the bottle to it to avoid future problems?

  • Yes. You will find that the R1800 has two pipes just a case of joining them with a T piece and then putting the one tube into a plastic pot making sure it is not air tight ie that it is vented.

  • @DebenDave Thanks! I will do it.

  • Does this work with a Epson Stylus C42UX?

    Thanks bunches.

  • If it is an ink jet it will. They have changed some of the newer models and instaed of a foam pad they actual have a tank but it is still well worth while fitting the tubing.

  • Thanks! I just set up a bottle to an R300. I drilled a hole in the access pannel, and ran the tube thru it. I ran a head cleaning after to test the set up and was amazed how much ink is expelled. Your paper clip tool idea was clever, and worked well. I wore gloves though! :)

  • Glad it was of use. Just make sure that the bottle is not air tight ie air can get into it. If you dont the pump will not be able to pump the ink out but sounds as if yours is fine.

  • Yep--its good! I saw 2 sizes of air tubing @ the pet store. People --Get the smaller size! also--you do not have to have the bottle lower than the pronter. The pump is very strong and the inl has no problem if the tube goes upwards.

  • This is the best explained and illustrated video I've seen for fixing my R200 Epson printer. I did as you suggested, forgot about the ink pads, and the printer is still working after 2 weeks. The trick for me and Mac was to use our PC notebook connected to the printer to reset the printer. As there is no reset download for the Mac. Thank you SOOO much!

  • Pleasure glad it worked.

  • Excellent video. But will the ink climb up the tube into the bottle? That is, shouldn't the bottle be BELOW the level of the printer? Thanks

  • Level is fine and below is even better.

  • excellent video sir. probably one of the most useful things ive found on yourtube.

  • Glad to be of service.

  • I never knew this! What a messy waste of ink! I wonder how much mine is "filled" up in there

  • Thank you many time - enlightening!

  • SSC service utility resets the "counter" and fixes this problem, just watch though cause the waste ink may overflow!!!

  • Have u watched the video becuase it tells you about the software and the ink.

  • aye i did after i posted :) don't fancy having a bottle of ink lying near my printer where it can easily/accidentally get knocked over destroying whatever it falls over!

  • You will see that the bootel can be fixed using velcro so there is no damager of the bottle falling over and much better than having it held within your printer.

  • I still don't fancy a bottle of ink sitting anywhere where it can be knocked over, velco'd to the printer or not. Seeing as i`ve already had the printer for around 3 years anyway when it does eventually pack in, i`ll just go and buy a new one!

  • what a dick

  • I did get the changeover done on the EPSON CX4600 with one minor glitch. The acquarium tubing connector was too large for the tubing coming from the printer. Luckily the silicone aquarium tubing slid over the tubing coming from the printer. I haven't checked the 6400 yet but suspect I may run into the same thing.

  • Glad to hear you sorted it out.

  • I really want to try this on two Epsons (4600 &6600) The 4600 "appears" to have two tubes at the back. Is this likely to be an error due to the clips covering the continuaton?

  • Some printers have two waste pipes eg R800 and the R1800 just a case of merging them and feeding them into the waste bottle.

  • Thank you great idea and you just help me to save $75.00 Dollards. I was looking to buy this product and now I can make it at home.

    thank you!!

  • have just done it on r220. with no problems . ticketyboo

  • really great idea

  • I have had this problem with my Epson R220 printer. I have resurrected it thanks to this small video so many thanks for your help

  • Glad to be of some help.
