If you're looking to buy an Indie IRK 4-String Electric Bass (RIKI STYLED) - Fireglow i have one for sale.... great condition!! Visit: davidjl.net / bass
You are a skilled bassplayer, and the theme you play is really good, but i'm sorry... i must tell you, that you have killed the legendary Rickenbacker sound.
@SoldierOfSunrise you can't deny this is a great sound to fit the track... you shouldn't pick a bass because 'it should play a track', you pick it because it sounds good
@newbpwnr The 4001's are great (9 out 10) but you should be aware of a couple of things. First, the truss rods they used for them are fragile and can snap on you while making adjustments. Rickenbacker does not offer replacements for them so you'll need to have a machinist ready to bail you out if the worst happens. Secondly, they have a capacitor on the treble (bridge) pickup that cuts some of the low end but can be wired around or removed. Good Luck!
@newbpwnr For a bass with passive pickups, it really brings a lot of mid-range/treble punch so it should be a good fit with your distortion. But also consider a new 4003. Improved truss rods and in 2006 they added a "push-pull" knob for getting the "vintage tone". Either way, they're great instruments.
I think you should talk to Nintendo about composing the next mario kart tracks.

I'm considering buying a 4001. I have the experience to justify it, but what rating would you give it? Out of 10, 10 being highest.

@fretnaught4003 Well the high end bit is actually not a huge problem, It works well on distortion, which i use alot.
