Hey my name is amber, and i' m having the same operation as this i have an over bite only on my upper jaw, i've had a brace which i could take in and out to change my jaw shape, this didnt work, i've had agro all my life for my teeth. but now things are sort of getting better my jaws growing and moving on it's own,
this video was helpfull loads thanks :) x
hope everything went well, and everything is still going well now
I would think Sun Warrior protein powder to drink would make a lot of sense as well as getting a very good blender for veg. Some sort of carb powder like wheat or barley powder would also be good to mix up and drink.
I think it is different for everyone. But my basic healing time was 6 weeks. Then I could start chewing foods again and slowly start getting back into sports. Although I started feeling much better after week 2 :D
My name is Grace and I'm 15 years old and I am getting the exact same surgery as you on November 30th. I was just wondering how old were you when you got yours done and do you have any numb or tingly feeling?
av just had surgery top and bottom on wed there got home yesturday no pain just pure numb round the nose and cheeks lips.and mega swollin..but it is all woth it. xx
Hello! have you had your surgery yet? mines in early December; im having top and bottom jaws moved just like you. i wanted to know how your recoverys going? (if youve had the surgery) and im a bit worried about the swelling after becasue i want to return to college ASAP but im not going if i look like a beachball :S :P so roughly how long did it take for your swelling to go down?
So yes i had the surgery :D just go to my youtube channel and you can see the other videos! Oh and about swelling: i think it is different for everyone but most of the swelling goes down in the first week or two. Good luck with your surgery!
I waited 2 additional years 4 my surgery, as my surgeon said having this surgery at a young age could cause problems later on in life.
Read your ins. benefit coverage plan. Our ins. said they would cover if orthodontics alone can not correct.
Our insurance company did give us a pre-approval 4 the surgery, the claim was just submitted so we don't know how much they are going to pay. The out-patient facility billed our ins. co. around 22K Surgeon 24K Anesthesiologist 3K
Hahaha, I got the same Napoleon Dynamite mouth. My lips just don't wanna shut! I have to wait till I'm 18 to get mine. One more year... though its gonna suck to have braces in college (apparently I have to have them for a year before the surgery?)
Anyways I was wondering if your insurance covered this. I heard that its about $30,000 or so and most insurances don't unless its a medical issue.
Anyways I hope the surgery went well for you and everything was smooth sailing :D
I hope your surgery went well.... I just had corrective jaw surgery one month ago and I am healing great!!! So happy with everything but the only thing is that people from my work actually didn't know who I was after my surgery because of the structural changes to my face so be prepared...... but I am so happy I did it:) Take care and remember the swelling takes time to go down so don't expect to know what the results will be until three or four months post- op...
Good luck on the 24th I'm sure you'll do fine! I'll let you know how it goes, tomorrow is the day. I'm excited to get it done with and see the results!
Hello there ~ Wish you lots of luck.. I'm having double jaw surgery in Costa Rica on June 24th.. Will be staying out there for a few weeks. Please let us know how your recovery goes!
I've just had similar surgery to you on May 29th 2009. I had my lower jaw moved forward to correct my overbite, and had a genioplasty on my chin to make sure it wasn't sticking out to much! I was expecting to be in lots of pain when I came round but it wasn't at all - just slightly uncomfortable and tight feeling. It is now 9 days on and the swelling has almost completely gone.
5-6 hours?!? i have to get this down as well.

do they take ur braces off after they finish the surgery
bballplyrz08 1 year ago
@bballplyrz08 Hell no. They have to wire your mouth closed. They probably take them out about 6-12 months later.

I will be getting something similar to this.
