A few years ago I was managing a factory in India for a US-based company. The local manager was very eager to please, but I was puzzled when he said he would ‘prove his authority’ & asked me to point to any worker at random.
I chose a young lad, but was horrified when the guy then fired him on the spot. The lad broke down & pleaded with me that “my family will starve”, but was forcibly ejected & I didn’t want to undermine the local guy by over-ruling him.

I have been accused of being an Indian having an American job and afraid of being laid off for my earlier comments on this. I live and work in India, and my job may be in danger if outsourcing is stopped. However, I do, and will always, say outsourcing to this extent is blatant capitalistic opportunism. Just because another country's living costs and wages are less, it isn't right to move jobs from your mother nation to that place. Just because we benefit from something doesn't make it right.

Since we were under Spain for 300 years and Americans for 50 years, we are also multi-lingual. I was just referring to the quality and accent of English-speakers in India. I'm in the oil and gas business. I've worked directly with Indian workers for a company that outsources the work. It's a pain in the ass to get them to do the work right. Even tho I had to spoon feed them the work I needed them to do. They think they are always right when im telling them what I needed done and in the end they had to fix it the way I wanted it or someone here would fix it because they could not understand.

A few years ago I was managing a factory in India for a US-based company. The local manager was very eager to please, but I was puzzled when he said he would ‘prove his authority’ & asked me to point to any worker at random.
I chose a young lad, but was horrified when the guy then fired him on the spot. The lad broke down & pleaded with me that “my family will starve”, but was forcibly ejected & I didn’t want to undermine the local guy by over-ruling him.
The incident kinda haunts me still.

I have been accused of being an Indian having an American job and afraid of being laid off for my earlier comments on this. I live and work in India, and my job may be in danger if outsourcing is stopped. However, I do, and will always, say outsourcing to this extent is blatant capitalistic opportunism. Just because another country's living costs and wages are less, it isn't right to move jobs from your mother nation to that place. Just because we benefit from something doesn't make it right.

@ajazaad Actually that's similar to the my country Philippines. We have many local dialects. I can speak 2 and understand 2 or more others plus English and a little Spanish and French. Since we were under Spain for 300 years and Americans for 50 years, we are also multi-lingual. I was just referring to the quality and accent of English-speakers in India. Like in the Philippines, not all can speak in a quality that US companies will accept in their call center. I think ABC News was exaggerating.

There are ways of shedding costs; companies just take the obvious and most inhumane route. Costco wholesale has to compete with fuckin' Walmart, and yet they have a sizable market share. Why? Because the CEO isn't greedy and dumps a lot of the revenue back into the low-level employees salary. Work 2-3 years, and you can make 40K.

They also supplied the liberated countries at the cost of 3 million Bengalis (Indians in the province Bengal) starved. India then created the largest volunteer army of WW2, over 2.5 million people, which is huge because of Ghandi's non-violence movement and the constant pressure on independence.

I'm in the oil and gas business. I've worked directly with Indian workers for a company that outsources the work. It's a pain in the ass to get them to do the work right. Even tho I had to spoon feed them the work I needed them to do. They think they are always right when im telling them what I needed done and in the end they had to fix it the way I wanted it or someone here would fix it because they could not understand.

It is not the US worker's responsibility to sacrifice his family's and grandchildren's livelihood to make up for the inability of the corrupt indian government to provide its citizens with meaningful work opportunities.
And was the US worker even asked if this was what he wanted? When was his input given? It never was. The rich elites in this country see only money, and will nix anyone who stands in their way of collecting more of it.

Its not just India, China is the big player. I was born in North America, live in Ecuador right now. Bush never put prohibitions on jobs going overseas, one engineering job in North America, is replaced by 7 to 10 jobs overseas. Outsourcing =financial suicides, except CEOs and other greedy assholes who have no respect for human-life. India is a threat to the U.S. but no compared to China, China is everywhere in South America. China is U.S. big threat.

This is the most misinformation video I have ever seen. These people promoite outsourcing to sub standard labour and get poor service while west loses jobs and expertise.-unfair.
Most clients wanted out after outsourcing to India because they cant understand their accent and also the amount of personal data theft that was sold by workers cost the industry 2billion dollors.

Americans are lazy while Indians are more creative and better able to handle more work under pressure. We are not exploited, just faster and not always complaining about work. Further, we have the most PHDs, the most young people who can create better IT software compared to any other country. As such, the world is going from service to knowledge industry and India is here to lead. Accenture and Northrop will diminish while Infosys and Wipro rise to the top. MSFT, IBM will mv base to India

Total bullshit...where i work takes 10 indians per task to complete a job..you are not faster and you're not hard working..you get what you deserve - NOTHING...your I.T. software develoment is cheap: thats why US outsource everyting to India..because its cheaper..we are a small team of 5 and then then they bring in 34 snake-charmers from india.. HA..you dont get it.,..america just wants their pruducts manufactured & distributed as cheap as possible.and they give india money for infrastructure..

What a joke! First of all, US doesn't have tech resources. They have only resource managers. If it was a case of just costs, why doesn't US outsource IT to Somalia and Indonesia. What US did was simple - attract the best talent from around the world coz' it was in very short supply in US. Immigrants from India are amongst the most succesful and affluent groups in US. C'mon go get a life. Your ego and jealousy is not going to take you far. We will swamp you sooner than later.

The US needs to remove all regulations on polution so they can dump chemicals in the rivers and be competitive. OR New legislation needs to be drafted to make all products/services sold in the US comply with US/global EPA rules.
They are digging their own graves and they don't even realize it. In fact they're proud of it.

they are but i don't like the dumping chemicals in rivers..we're not murderers..India wont admit..they gonna get scrooged big time..the sole reason why america/europe/australia is outsourcing was to prevent india and pakistan going nuclear war with each other. its a temporary solution to prevent pakistan: a supporter of alqaeda/taliban from starting nuclear war..the US plan is isolate pakistan and destroy terrorism with capitalism..war still looms but its good business for our execs.

I certainly hope no one ever has to tell their hard working dedicated employees they have to let them go because some 3rd world goat herder (who does not pay taxes or pay for his software) can do it cheaper. Any American who supports or is involved in the outsourcing of jobs should be ashamed of themselves.
