I've just downloaded a HD video with &fmt=22, so as far as I can tell it's not discontinued. Maybe the video you tried to downloaded simply doesn't exist in HD? Videos available in HD have an "HD" icon instead of the standard "HQ" icon...

Now, let me explain. If you put a Game Boy (original) game into a Game Boy Advance it does NOT make it full colour with improved graphics and stuff. Confused? Let me explain my point. If the video isn't HD in the first place it can't be MADE HD by simply adding &fmt=22. Only HD videos can be viewed in HD.

Yeah, TBH, I actually have been in that situation, where I'm asking a question and then find the answer immediately, and usually I ask at a place where I can't edit it to say "Never mind", or something. Hey, this conversation reminded me of something, my brother's friend says that HD TVs are no better than non-HD TVs. Of course it turns out he's watching a non-HD channel on the HD TV. A lot of people probably think that HD TVs mean that it MAKES things look High-Definition, not realising or knowing that you need HD channels or it has to be MADE for HD. Like putting the Wii on a HD TV doesn't make it HD. You need the HD cables, and to set it to HD in the settings.

If the video is not available in better quality the code will not make a difference.

Try cartoon or anime videos to see the the quality grealy increased.

The usage of "&fmt=18" is standing as "and format 18". This code is most essential in videos whose raw file is in (.mp4) format, since, mp4 formats has mp3 codecs, the code will enable the quality of the video high most especially the sound quality!

&fmt=18 will change the quality of the picture somewhat....but the most benefit I have gotten from it is in sound quality. Find a song that you like and enter the code at the end of the url....then press enter. The song will play with the higher quality and you can use the "Back" button on your browser to compare the before and after difference. Some songs really come through brighter and more crisp.
