@TheShootTruth10 chicken soup bowl- ND Montana played with the flu, lol then he played thru injury but that hit from one of the Giants hurt the rest of his career. Young was a more athletic QB than Joe.
Friend, we've already won. We got Harbaugh, and it only goes up from here. This season won't end with a superbowl, but it has already ended with the first division title in more than a decade. Our defense is stellar, the only thing we need to work on is our offensive line and we are superbowl caliber. Nobody has it better than the Niners right now, the seeds of a new dynasty have been planted.
Thank you for this video. It reminds me why the Niners are so great. They have a dynasty and it is imperative that we live up to this. I loved Garcia; I can only wonder what he would have been like with the right coach but now that's just a memory. Now Harbaugh is making magic with a QB everyone including me, was washed up. Fingers crossed!
I was at that game that Smith got chewed out. The frustration was palpable. I am so happy what they are doing now. Way overdue and turning all that negative energy into positive! Now we don't just beat teams, we demoralize them. Now all the teams wish they could be as solid as the 49er red & gold!
Born in 1993, i just remember glimpses here and there of the 2002 season, But my 1st real season of getting into football and watching every game was 2003...The beginning of this 8 year debacle . Basically i've never seen this team go to the playoffs. And i gotta say it feels amazing as a fan when you realize staying true to your team no matter what has just finally payed off!! Knowing that even through all the bad years, that there is no better NFL team!!! 49ERS ALL DAY BABY 6TH RING COMING!!!
wow. . . the part where steve young runs in the ball for a touchdown at 2:13 against the cowboys reminds me of smith now against the seehawks the first game this year he did the same thing feels good that hes playing like he did in college. . . and the ref at 3:49 totally jizzed himself from that touchdown catch. . . hahaha
LOL Alex Smith at 3:15. Only gloryness i seen out the 49ers was the 24 point comeback against the Giants. Its been a long, depressing, and painful 8 years but it looks like where finally back! Thank you Harbaugh!!!!
I get the Alex cameo now, it marks the end of an era. Man this video is well produced and edited and goes well with the music too. Has a crescendo with the clips and works perfect. I'm impressed. I Favorited the video.
@snave31 I wouldn't say Alex is a bust so fast, Let's see what he can do with an REAL NFL COACH now!!! I think Smith finally has a system he can fit into remember Montana never had the great arm he never had the god given talent that a lot of QBs had but under Walsh he was magic.
@snave31 Think again Alex smith finally is in a system that he can be great in you heard it here right here in this video Niners are going to win the superbowl this year. MARK IT DOWN right now were going to shock the world 2011/2012 you heard it right here niksinthe916 prediction!!!!!!!!!!!!! Said the same thing last year with the Giants.
This video was awesome... had all the famous 49er clips from the past and I just love how at the end, it kind of rewinds it back quickly through all the clips we just seen back to 1981 NFC Championship gameand "the catch" where it all began. Great video. I'd leave out that alex smith clip of him as a rookie tho.
When you think of the 49ers of the 80's the first thing you think of is Joe Montana rolling out and hitting Clark in the End zone to beat the Cowboys in the 1981 NFC Title game to make it to their first super bowl. The second thing you think of is all of the great players that made the NIners what they were, like Lott,Craig,Montana, rice, young,John tayler, and the list cane keep going. But dont think any of this would have been with out their out standing O_LINE,
I just love the way it's all kinda upsetting at first but then Dwight catches it and spikes it and it's like, "It was a beautiful day!" and the smile on Dwight's face. It's just, very well made video, I love it.
man i miss the west coast offense. Dngleberyy thought that this was the 1985 bears and decided to be a run heavy team. fortunately, Harbaugh is bringing the west coast offense. heck, maybe he can save Smith's Career.
what can you say the niners brought football to the modern age if you will cuz now a days every team runs a few plays the niners started back in the 80's it;s called west coast ofense and every team does it or has done it at one time god the NINER NATION
Rather sad the last time the niners won a SB was a few days before my very first birthday,. I wish i coulda got into football way sooner, i prob wouldve barely remember Steve Young, but to be able to see an underrated QB like Jeff Garcia, TO and Hearst play wouldve created plentiful childhood memories for me. To remember seeing that comeback on the giants on tv that wouldve been nice. Sucks when i actually did get into football bill walsh is already dead, and the orginazation is in hell..
Can,t forget the players that were their back in the day Keena Turner, Eric Wright, Carlton Williamson, Dwayne Board, Jack Reynolds, Freddie Soloman, Fred Dean, Russ Francis, Dwight Hicks, Dana McLemore and of course the great Ray Wersching obvious theire were other studs not mentioned but these were the unsung studs
The 49er Empire: 1981-2002, and being born on New Years' Ever 1990, I came into the world right in the middle of it.
I fell in love with the 49ers when I first saw Steve Young throw a TD pass on Monday Night Football.
I was sealed in that love when Young completed "The Catch II" to Owens...I was just a kid, almost crying when it seemed impossible...and then that catch...
And The 2002 Wild Card Game seems just like yesterday...
I miss those days. Here's hoping the Empire will rise again!
Look at T.O crying after he just caught the game winning TD pass. He was so happy to be on that team, just in the moment of being part of history with one of the best franchises in sports, period! He couldnt believe what was happening to the 49ers. He may have had an attitude, but it was because he wanted to win, not because of anything else. The 49ers drafted winners, and T.O was a Niner by heart. He could stay on that team, with after the 49ers accomplished and what standard was set...
@linkin49park182 Were one of the best franchises under Eddie Debartolo, not anymore. Been a Niners fan since the early eighties and I can not stand what they have become
The 49ers are not far from being a really good team. Look at the 2009 season.. They should have won at least 3 more games! They should have beaten the Vikings (the brett favre miracle) and we should have beaten the colts and the seahawks! But the niners defense was outstanding this year. Against the bears when cutler through 5 picks and the cardinals turning it over 7 times on MNF we are not far fellow 49ers fans.. We are not far.
alex smith is ok, i would give him 2 more years to see what he can do. hopefuly he can be a great QB, im sure changing out the head coach and players alot had an impact on how the team plays. the head coach thinks he can play, and thats all the matters, i just hope he thinks he has what it takes. i hope for playoffs, i think they are that good. 10-6 would be great, and finaly someing to build on. it will take a few years of of 10-6 or better to make me think they can move past the playoffs.
Don't trash Alex Smith just yet. I do agree he hasn't lived up to the expectations, but being in a franchise with no stability with an offensive coordinator would be tough even for brett favre. He is on the hot seat for next year though. If he doesn't have a breakout winning season next year then get him out. On the other hand, they have the coaches, they have the playmakers, they have the defense. Now work on O-Line and stop making big mistakes. Playoffs 11-5 next year!
Alex Smith does need to show something this season. I think he breaks the huddle already locked in on who to throw to. If their not there, he throws the leak out to Gore. How many times did we see that last season? Then in some games he seems to throw that check down way too quick. Like he makes no reads, "primary not open, check down now." Also how many times did he have his pass knocked down at the line? 1,2,3, throw.
christophersmith0341..... Im from Indiana and a HUGE 9ers fan...always have been...since i followed Joe out of Notre Dame (aka:the Holy Land) and i just want to say that i was REALLY hoping Smith would be good for the Niners....he has proven to be a VERY one deminsional QB and i HOPE that he is NOT there this comming season! Tim Tebow has shown an interest in the 49ers and i hope to God that he commits! Smith SUCKS! Im sick of hoping he will be good!
take out alex smith and this vid is good. I don't think he really has proven anything yet to show that he's a part of this team's history. Its Alex's job to provide that footage next year.
Excellent video. Great job! I probably would have ended it after the Owen's touchdown against Greenbay though. There were several good years with Garcia...but I just don't consider those teams as part of the dynasty.
You're right. The post "CATCH II" days weren't that great, but I just couldn't leave out the 2002 WC game against the Giants. That was a beautiful day.
@bewolff16 are you kidding? you dont think niners are in the dynasty today? 5-0 SB wins.... best WR player jerry rice and best QB joe montanna, ronny lott, danna stubblefield, patrick willis.... something is wrong with you
@Elfinlox yeah Rice, Montana, Lott were part of the dynasty years. After 1994 (their 5th SB) the dynasty faded away. Right now they are not in the dynasty.
@Elfinlox "5-0 SB wins.... best WR player jerry rice and best QB joe montanna, ronny lott..." was a long time ago. That dynasty is long gone. And it's Ronnie Lott.
That dynasty may be gone, but the 49ers are building another. We're expected to have one of the top defenses next year, we have one of the best RB, T.Es, MLB in the NFL star WR in the making in M.Crabtree. We've been building this team through the draft, with more than half of our starters under 25. We have the weapons to make defenses play us honest, and a defense that can limit teams to 17 points a game. There is a dynasty in making, they just need to learn how to win together.
Whats funny is nobody believed the 49ers had a dynasty in the making before they won their 1st Sb. Nobody knew who J.Montana was, B.Walsh was a new H.C after being denied in Cincy and they just retired Y.A. The current 49ers team is in the same boat in the sense, nobody believes they're real contenders.
The first sign of greatness was when the team of the 80s put a relentless wuppin on a top ranked team in week 2 in. The 49ers play the Saints in week 2 next season.......
@bewolff16 i would kill for garcia rite now compared to what we got. besides garcia is under rated look what he did for the eagles and bucs. out of all his starts he has won 82% of his games, not bad
I grew up with Steve Young and Jeff garcia--and not a weekend goes by, watching Singletary run the team up the middle and into the ground or watching Alex Smith throw an interception, that I don't wonder what life would have been like if the Niners had just kept Jeff and T.O. I don't CARE if he had an "attitude problem," he at least put up when we needed him too and has the second-biggest catch in Niner history...
OK people plain and simple Alex Smith has not gotten it done up until now wether it be injuries or having a new O cordinator every single year since he has been in the NFL not to mention our O line has not blocked for him at all!! That being said we all seen this last year he has something going with Vernon and Crabtree why would we mess that up??!! Lets draft O line so we can block better, we all seen last year he can throw the ball when he has time!
He'll never be a franchise QB, and therfore doesn't belong in any tributes to the Niners' greatness. Not to mention he's never even gotten us to the playoffs.
Im a niners fan, although i was happy to see him play over shaun hill, he isn't cut out for us. He's improving isnt good enough anymore, we havent seen a playoff game since jeff garcia, which i dont why they let him go, and he's pretty much third great qb the 9ers had since montana and young. Lets try out nate davis, if anybody is going to improve thats him.
Wow. Did I see a brief clip of Montana actually expressing a tiny bit of affection and friendship toward Young, who he's always treated like garbage...?
Young has always been a gentleman toward Montana, but I've heard, from direct sources that Montana has been a total, complete, unbelievable a-hole toward Young... to the point of weirdness.
I have a reliable source as well who's crossed paths with him somewhat regularly over the years. Montana seems to be a jerk to a lot of people. Which is unfortunate, but at least he gave the Niners some great years and 4 titles.
What a great video. Man, how we used to dominate the league. I'm so grateful I was able to watch many of those games. It's our time again. Let's go Niners.
I love how the last thing you see before the footage starts going backward is Alex Smith in training camp. One giant step back. Hopefully Singletary is the leap forward.
@sacdoublea Hey, he was good last season, after he finally got a real head coach who wouldn't coddle him, and wouldn't coddle the other players.
Walsh had a saying, "Beat your man to the punch." That seems to be Singletary's philosophy. Smith, Davis, Gore, Crabtree, and Morgan are all in place and reformed, Glen Coffee could be a good #2 back, Iupati and Anthony Davis are theer to actually protect Smith and block for Gore, Willis and that D are Top 15 and rising... it might happen again...
What a genius Walsh was. Team copy him to this day! The GOAT!

alex smith is ok, i would give him 2 more years to see what he can do. hopefuly he can be a great QB, im sure changing out the head coach and players alot had an impact on how the team plays. the head coach thinks he can play, and thats all the matters, i just hope he thinks he has what it takes. i hope for playoffs, i think they are that good. 10-6 would be great, and finaly someing to build on. it will take a few years of of 10-6 or better to make me think they can move past the playoffs.

I think that niners are gonna restart another dynasty pretty soon!!!!......All they need is another rookie QB to start them up again!!!

i want garcia back, not the greatest qb but he always got the job done

Yeah I agree Garcia was gritty
49erFaithful6T9 1 year ago 8
Don't trash Alex Smith just yet. I do agree he hasn't lived up to the expectations, but being in a franchise with no stability with an offensive coordinator would be tough even for brett favre. He is on the hot seat for next year though. If he doesn't have a breakout winning season next year then get him out. On the other hand, they have the coaches, they have the playmakers, they have the defense. Now work on O-Line and stop making big mistakes. Playoffs 11-5 next year!

montana and young seem like friends in that clip. funny how montana would grow to hate young.
merrimac291 2 years ago

Im sick of hoping he will be good!
ox7x7x7xo 2 years ago
They just need a QB that can take pressure off of the beast we call Frank Gore! LOL!
ox7x7x7xo 2 years ago
take out alex smith and this vid is good. I don't think he really has proven anything yet to show that he's a part of this team's history. Its Alex's job to provide that footage next year.
timsk 2 years ago
Excellent video. Great job! I probably would have ended it after the Owen's touchdown against Greenbay though. There were several good years with Garcia...but I just don't consider those teams as part of the dynasty.
bewolff16 2 years ago 3
You're right. The post "CATCH II" days weren't that great, but I just couldn't leave out the 2002 WC game against the Giants. That was a beautiful day.
rpv173 2 years ago 9
@bewolff16 are you kidding? you dont think niners are in the dynasty today? 5-0 SB wins.... best WR player jerry rice and best QB joe montanna, ronny lott, danna stubblefield, patrick willis.... something is wrong with you
Elfinlox 1 year ago
@Elfinlox yeah Rice, Montana, Lott were part of the dynasty years. After 1994 (their 5th SB) the dynasty faded away. Right now they are not in the dynasty.
bewolff16 1 year ago
@Elfinlox "5-0 SB wins.... best WR player jerry rice and best QB joe montanna, ronny lott..." was a long time ago. That dynasty is long gone. And it's Ronnie Lott.
bewolff16 1 year ago
@bewolff16
YBRR88 1 year ago
Whats funny is nobody believed the 49ers had a dynasty in the making before they won their 1st Sb. Nobody knew who J.Montana was, B.Walsh was a new H.C after being denied in Cincy and they just retired Y.A. The current 49ers team is in the same boat in the sense, nobody believes they're real contenders.
The first sign of greatness was when the team of the 80s put a relentless wuppin on a top ranked team in week 2 in. The 49ers play the Saints in week 2 next season.......
YBRR88 1 year ago
@YBRR88 Niners play the Saints on primetime to! When we win that one people will believe!
xxxangelfan94xxx 1 year ago
@bewolff16 I def agree, It should have ended with owens. I miss those San Fran days, I guess we should be thankful for Brady...
Billionaire10 1 year ago
@bewolff16 i would kill for garcia rite now compared to what we got. besides garcia is under rated look what he did for the eagles and bucs. out of all his starts he has won 82% of his games, not bad
konobee 1 year ago 3
@konobee You and me both, my friend...
And JEFF...DAMN I MISS JEFF GARCIA!
obiwanobiwan13 1 year ago 3
why would u show alex amith the fuckin looooooooser!
justinheat1 2 years ago
OK people plain and simple Alex Smith has not gotten it done up until now wether it be injuries or having a new O cordinator every single year since he has been in the NFL not to mention our O line has not blocked for him at all!! That being said we all seen this last year he has something going with Vernon and Crabtree why would we mess that up??!! Lets draft O line so we can block better, we all seen last year he can throw the ball when he has time!

That glimpse of smith almost ruined it. The rest of the video was awesome!
AZCATS29 2 years ago
please, don't hate on smith......he's improving
ROHORunner45 2 years ago
He'll never be a franchise QB, and therfore doesn't belong in any tributes to the Niners' greatness. Not to mention he's never even gotten us to the playoffs.
AZCATS29 2 years ago
@ROHORunner45
Evolution247 2 years ago
idk man.......i think they should give Smith another chance
ROHORunner45 2 years ago
Wow. Did I see a brief clip of Montana actually expressing a tiny bit of affection and friendship toward Young, who he's always treated like garbage...?
iowa61 2 years ago
@iowa61 Yeah, that might be the only footage of them actually expressing any kindness towards each other.
AZCATS29 2 years ago
Young has always been a gentleman toward Montana, but I've heard, from direct sources that Montana has been a total, complete, unbelievable a-hole toward Young... to the point of weirdness.
iowa61 2 years ago
I have a reliable source as well who's crossed paths with him somewhat regularly over the years. Montana seems to be a jerk to a lot of people. Which is unfortunate, but at least he gave the Niners some great years and 4 titles.
AZCATS29 2 years ago
I concur on all points... weird dude in some ways...

God Alex Smith was a failure
bombhillsnotme2 2 years ago 3
I know your comment was two months ago but he just doesn't have much experience and hes not doing that bad.
flyingmules911 2 years ago
I love how the last thing you see before the footage starts going backward is Alex Smith in training camp. One giant step back. Hopefully Singletary is the leap forward.
sacdoublea 2 years ago 9
@sacdoublea Hey, he was good last season, after he finally got a real head coach who wouldn't coddle him, and wouldn't coddle the other players.
Walsh had a saying, "Beat your man to the punch." That seems to be Singletary's philosophy. Smith, Davis, Gore, Crabtree, and Morgan are all in place and reformed, Glen Coffee could be a good #2 back, Iupati and Anthony Davis are theer to actually protect Smith and block for Gore, Willis and that D are Top 15 and rising... it might happen again...
