  • I never thought a song about sports could nearly bring me to tears in a very good way. I don't think that I will ever look at a sporting event in the same way again. I have never been a fan of sports but you have managed to share your personal emotion in such a way that I am truly and deeply effected. Your words and your voice are very powerful. You are extraordinarily gifted with a talent that very few could honestly claim. WOW, just wow.

  • Found it finally! Bloody searching youtube for this. As ya can see, commented on this 2 years ago. Brilliant song and agree a new 2011 one would be amazing!

  • You've gotta do a new song about this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song, you really captured the feeling of sports - the yearning and frustration of defeat, the power and glory of victory. I know this song ain't about hockey, but I think of the Stanley Cup whenever I hear it. Go Canucks!

  • Love the cheeky grin in the 10 points bit, priceless! =)

  • Yeah, not too bad man. Those 12 years of waiting were just practice for the last, and next, couple of decades, though, right? ;)

    C'mon Meath!

  • Hush you! =) You should wait till after Sunday before saying that. Wont look good when we send ya to the qualifiers ;-) (i should probably wait also with our experimental side playing hehe)

  • heey, spoko. : ) i love his voice, dont mind such shallow comments

  • oh yeah you have a big fucking inbred GAA followers head on you too you cunt.

  • This is awful. Feels like somebody died and the fact that he is singing about something related to the GAA is sad. What a fucking sad act. Get a life. Get a girlfriend.

  • Great song man and great voice. Do you play live music at all? Almost had tears in me eyes listening to it :-) Hopefully we wont have to wait too much longer for the second installment of this tune ;-)

  • i died and im flying..incredibly beautiful voice

  • Hopefully 2009!!?

  • i think you shud hav waited a while before releasing this song, because its now 14 years and waiting isnt it? and very like soon to be 15 and then 16....i think you catch my drift?

  • That would be an entirely different song though - this is about waiting from 1983 - 1995.

  • Great stuff. Well done.

  • "and then Charlie got the line"

...pitty he didn't bother going off.

  • LOL. Very very true and something I had (almost) forgotten about. Selective memory! Thanks for that!

  • that was excellent my friend.....unfortunately In TN its next to impossible to follow any rugby league...but the feeling of the song still strikes me.

  • Thanks for watching - glad you liked it!

  • Fantastic song, Great lyrics, great melody and of course great singin' Love to watch Dublin play. Great job Kevin!!!

    G&A

  • Thanks a million for that! Much appreciated!

  • Go on ya legend,it's always nice to get a mention on such a good tune. You need to get that onto the Resevoir Dubs site kev,i'm sure they'd love it.Drop me a mail & remind me when your back in the big smoke.Dubs play Louth on June 10th.Your mate Brennan

  • How many channels do you have doctor?

  • what the fuck does that mean??

  • Any chance of a chorus?

  • Good point. The closest I come is the 10 points/12 Years bridge but they hardly count as choruses, do they?

    Maybe this September.

  • You've just put into song the feelings of every Dub of our generation. Memories flooding back....

Here's hoping you have need to edit the lyrics come this September.

  • Thanks a million for that. I would love to have to edit the lyrics - 13 years of waiting it is now.

  • ... soulful and touching choice - awesome ...

  • Wow - thanks - awesome comment!

  • anytime with pleasure - it´s only the truth (c:

  • good tune, jasus i think a newer version could well be written for recent years!

  • It would be about time, wouldn't it? If Dublin lift Sam again, then I'll have to think about it but to be honest, I don't even live in ireland anymore and I would hope others would be able to pick up the thread. Christ, I can name the 1974 team that beat Galway but not the current one O_O - I'm getting bleeding old.

  • Awesome.

  • Up The Dubs! :)

  • Good man!

  • fantastic job

  • Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it!

  • brilliant song, it captures the tribal-legendary spirit of spectator sport! i don't follow a sport's statistics and outcomes like i used to, but i identify with it. what great games are gaelic football and hurling. i don't know why they aren't as popular here in the us. when i was a child, my brothers & i & other boys in the neighborhood played gaelic football & hurling. that was in florida, but we learned about it on tv & in sports record books & encyclopedias.

  • fr. rachel; good on ya and your team, kevin! it's a stirring memorial, your ballad. i much love it! i liked the tin whistle that came in, made blood rise to my cheeks and my heart beat faster. magical and heroic!

  • I dont know anything about football, but this is a nice tune ...

and thinking of german football songs in comparison makes me blush and hide in shame, hehe...

    great job, as always, kevin!

  • Thanks Pascal. To be honest, there are one or two 1.FCN songs I don't mind - looks like we'll be singing them in Bundesliga 2 next season though.

  • should i listen to the end or should i post my comment now? maybe i should wait till the end, still, i like the chord progression, but it's in an endless loop and i can't see the end of it.. come on? 7 minutes... me waits and try to enjoy himself... 10 points? ok, now you rouse my curiosity to read the poem... ok i just finished reading it and the music just stop. i could say a million things now but my character count is running down and i need to finish this comment so i just say: well done!

  • LOL. That's a wonderful comment! Yes, the song is a bit long (a bit) but ... you survived!

Thanks for using so many characters in your answer :o)

  • Really passionate sound,nice one.

  • Thanks!

  • Das war sehr gut Herr Dardis!! Wolfgang :)

(Any sports fan who loves an infrequently successful team will relate to that one Kevin. Dundee United for me..)

P.S. Do I get an A for my written English?

  • B+

And Dundee United - I have a good friend here who would take the 'United' off that title and be happier - I hope you can forgive me for having such pals here :o(

  • Unforgivable... Lol.

They talked of years of merging the teams and taking one name from each team. They would take the Dundee from Dundee FC and the United from Dundee United FC. They would then be known simply as "Dundee United" F.C.

    Seems fair to me :)!

  • Wow very pro!!

    Love the song!

  • hey, thanks my friend!

  • Kevin, sterling work as usual. Reminded me of my favorite American football team, the Chicago Bears. A lifetime of heartache, one championship, and another lifetime of heartache. Terrific song, terrific singer, terrific video.

  • Terrific subscriber to have. That's you Bear!

  • very very great Kevin this goes to my favorites 5*****

  • Wow - I'm making Gaelic Football international! Thanks a lot for that my friend! I hope the weather is as nice in Saarland as it is here in Bayern!

  • GENIAL.

    herzliche grüße

  • Servus! Nice to hear from you again!

  • As all the others hear have said, powerfull!

We are all fortunate to be graced with videos and singing of your calibure.

  • You're too nice to me!

Thanks a million for the comment!

  • * * * * *5 BRIGHT STARS* * * * *

You've REALLY shown Your mettle here!

Your lyric and voice ~ Passion at Best.

    Slainte.

And I never told You... my wife plays bagpipes...

She also has a chanter... is that the instrument

    I'm hearing?

    {favorited}

  • Thanks James. Some tin whistle & harmonica! And your wife! Where's the bagpipe solo in your work?

  • You do such a nice job on this. I love that there is a song out there about football that is so passionate and serious. I've never heard that before. But I guess it's the familiar idea that any hard-fought and seemingly impossible obstacle that is conquered can make others feel that their life has more possibility and that their limitations are less limiting. In other words, I'm going to hum this when I play volleyball—off tune, of course.

  • I hope you won!

Thanks for watching & for such a well thought out comment!

  • Cill Mhantáin. Tiocfaidh Ar La...

    ;)

  • LOL. Baile Átha Cliath is Dublin in Irish. That Irish ex of yours left a mark it would seem :o)

  • LOL! Yeah, I had the pronunciation of Baile Átha Cliath beaten into me, and I don't think I ever got it right! That and Drogheda...

(oh and I used the expression in its literal sense, not its political one. I hate how words get hijacked like that.)

I live in an area with a big Irish backpacker population. I wouldn't have to walk 5 minutes to see a Corcaigh or Gaillimh shirt.

  • Jaysus - doG love you! :o)

  • Music written with passion is always moving and memorable. This ballad is very beautiful and haunting. 5/5

  • Thanks a million Suze!

  • A ballad is a ballad, whether it's about football or romance; eh, Kevin? Judging by your body language, you were reliving memories just as vivid. ;^D

  • I cried at the end of the final in '95 (and not a drop of alcohol in my blood) ... it was a pretty vivid thing all right! :o)

  • i enjoyed very much! thank you!

  • No, THANK YOU! :o)

  • Loved it!

  • Thanks Chris!

  • It has never, ever occurred to me to write a song about football and I am an American NFL Football fanatic for 30 years! Excellent tribute, great story, and the music was outstanding! Were those bagpipes at the end? Bagpipes and football, a winning combination!

  • No bagpipes - a simple tin whistle! Thanks for the nice comments Luis.

  • That was powerfull! Kevin. :)

  • It would be powerful if the Dubs could end the current drought this year too Justin! Thanks for watching!

  • That was beautiful!

    Go Dublin!!! =D

  • Go Dublin indeed! Thanks for watching & commenting!

  • I loved the way you sounded in "BY MY SIDE" . Something special happened there. :))

  • The guy mentioned as being by my side was not happy to be called 'mate' - he wanted 'buddy' (or something).

    Thanks for watching.

  • Honestly this is the best song of yours I have heard so far. Really really awesome! I am not into football at all, but the song is really catchy. Im going to record this ^^

  • Wow - very happy to hear you liked this my friend!

  • I don't know a thing about Gaelic Football, but I know when I hear a good song! That, I just did!

  • Thank you!

  • Cool singing. Us over here it's Hockey, and our present team as a chance to get to the cup for the first time since 93. As a matter of fact, it's keeping up the collective spirit around here right now lol!! Well sung story! Thank you!

  • Thank you doctor! I haven't seen a game of Gaelic football live for over ten years (alas) - maybe this July!

  • Very well done!

  • Thanks!

  • Epic song about an epic win! I don't really know much about sport, but I was enthralled by your tale. And the music, well... mate that last verse send shivers down my spine.

  • You listened to the whole thing O_O ;o)

    Thanks for the support Steve!

  • oh, i've missed your singing videos!!! this is really lovely;-)

  • Thanks Callie - I have just been soooooooo busy of late! I hope to get some new stuff up in the near future. Maybe. ;o)

  • Nice. I don't know anything about sport but the passion in this means that it could be about just about anything.

  • (Mini) Epic my arse!

    EPIC!

  • :o)

  • Another fine job! Very good indeed! 5*****

  • Thank you sir!

  • a video!

  • Indeed! And I was thinking of you today (I had all my clothes on - don't worry!) I am going to have a lot more free time over the next couple of weeks sister - hopefully we can overcome our technical problems!

  • Your voice is like syrup.

  • Hopefully not too sweet. Thanks for watching & commenting!

  • Beautiful original song Kevin :-D Good lyrics and I really like the vocals! peace&love, Anne

  • Thanks a million - the Queen (ofWannabe) of epic songs has given my (mini) epic the thumbs up *Dardis blushes contentedly*

  • Such a lovely melodic tune and I do enjoy your videos . Our footy team is in a critical position in the league at the moment- Quite tense to say the least! Love how this song develops .

  • Would you like to share the name of the team in peril?

    And thanks for watching!
