  • I might be going to Oakland from LA by train but I'm wondering how many of these would it take to get there and how expensive would it be ? I'm going alone and I'm 19

  • @TheSurfinbird21 You are a nerd bitch faggot retard bitch bastard that likes to battle me!

  • I'm going to Oaklnad, and i'm riding the BART :3

  • The Richmond is always 6 Cars

  • Plus, if you were to actually get your hands on that AdTranz motor, they do cost between $25-35,000 each from BART sources.

  • My speakers are a bit soft, do I need to ask you a question: Do any BART models have door chimes?

  • Nope, just a simple doors closing beep with the C1 or C2 cars as lead cars, and a pre-recorded automated voice "The doors are closing. Please stand clear of the doors." with the A cars as lead cars.

  • A beep counts as a chime to me.

  • Point taken.

  • Those 439 Rohr cars used by BART prior to rehabilitation used Westinghouse 1463 Direct Current (DC) traction motors with chopper controls (the motors that were taken out of the Rohr cars during rehab were retained as spares for use on the Alstom C1 and Morrison-Knudsen C2 cars).

  • that was the worlds coolest sounding train ever also was timeo of day was that

  • The kawasaki R142a and R143 on the NYC subway sound the same (not the bombardier R142 with the "violin" sound)

  • Except the motors on both Kawasaki R142A and R143 are a different model from the ones used by BART.

    BART uses ADTranz/Bombardier 1507C.

NYC Transit uses ADTranz/Bombardier 1508C on the R142A and R143 (MARTA in Atlanta uses the 1508 as well).

  • marta train is in atlanta i thought it only runs in chicago??

  • You're thinking a little about Chicago Transit's 'L'.

  • so, wait, what are the motors used in this particular train? call me crazy, but i actually want to get a 1507C traction motor and retrofit it into a volvo 240 gl to make a HSEV(High Speed Electric Vehicle). don't tell me it's not possible, i helped retrofit a Westinghouse 1463 traction motor into a BMW M3. can we say, electric DTM car?

  • The traction motors are really heavy.

The Westinghouse 1463 direct current traction motors weigh 1,200 lbs.

The ADTranz/Bombardier 1507C 3-phase alternating current traction motors weigh 900 lbs.

I learned from a former BART vehicle systems engineer that they are too heavy for cars and trucks.

    It would be overkill.

  • well, i like taking things apart, so i would take apart the 1507C, make a detailed list of the parts, make a detailed drawing of the parts, and have all of the metal parts remade out of lightweight aluminum or titanium alloy. that way, i'd have an eco-friendly supercar.

  • oakland, they really need to make that air train to the airport.

  • what city is this in

  • Oakland, California.

  • northboundie
