cant understand people who are saying "who's first, who is better, who is greater" . even it's your own opinion you should keep that just in your mind . and plz stop acting like you know everything about them. If you dont even have half of those great singers have.
@gechi1069 are you aware that you are comparing fruit with vegetable? which one is each I leave it up to you (I like both...lol)
That said, it is odd that you write this remark on this posting... Björling's artisrtry aside, he had no business in this Fach... So it would be rather more appropriate to comment on his posting with something negative... see it as a character exercise for yourself...
Very powerful and emotional version. Top class. Not as smooth as Bjorling's 1937 version (in my opinion, the Gold Standard of this piece) but very captivating.
MDM? ... The greatest Otello and among the greatest Manrico's but I think he pales compared to Corelli and a few others in this role. His sledge hammer voice as Dick Johnson seemed like overkill to me. Just my humble opinion
Franco Corelli,AH.....I can listen to this man's voice every minute of my life and never get try of it.....It's beautiful to listen and look at.......love you Franco.
I've listened Domingo's most admirable perfomance many times, but it cannot touch my haeart so hard, it cannot confuses me so much, it doesn't makes me so sad, that Franco's version.
... now what should I say? Every word would be too easy, not right. But I want to do one with pleasure, I bow deferentially my head before such great achievement before Franco Corelli and say with bleeding heart - thanks! - These were still real singers and artists a pity that this time is over, therefore, we protect these treasures deeply
We are living now the times of mediocrity...artists like il divino Franco are over...We must conserve the remembrance....thanks God,we have these videos, and registrations...
This is an example of beautiful singing.Corelli sings with nuance, pathos and it seems like the aria is 10 minutes long

I give the nod to Corelli over Del Monaco.
Two great artists with ENORMOUS and excitingly vibrant voices, no doubt about it.
But Corelli had both the power AND the greater capacity for softer dynamics. And his voice, being rounder and warmer that DM's, was more beautiful:).

great Franco, but Mario del Monaco is much better

@dayanvolpe . In comparison, Mario del Monaco wasn't but a "trombone",

Mario del Monaco and Jussi Bjorling probably achieve greater perfection, but Franco is certainly at the top table.

Franco is the most handsome Tenor, but I like the singing way of Jussi Biorling more.

Is your nickname for the character of Verdi's Don Carlo?
LeonardoEulero 2 years ago
It is indeed. In my opinion, the greatest baritone role in all of opera and a truly unforgetable character.

Of course - search Bocelli - Del Monaco - Domingo "Chella mi creda" Fanciulla del west and you'll see for yourself. Bye

Absolutely great performance. There is no one today that can sing like Corelli. He was one of the best tenors ever.
