I'm an American living in Canada. On 9/11 when this was song here in Canada at a small local park several, not all, but several Canadians put their hand over their hearts for the American national anthem. I'm sorry, but if they can do it, so can someone in Obama's position. If Canadians can show respect for a country that isn't theirs, so can the President of that country.

Congress recently amended the law stating that veterans can render a hand salute out of uniform, but that does not change the law for civilians. When in civilian clothes, outside, you place your hand over your heart. Read the US Flag Code or military regulations.

Congress recently amended the law stating that veterans can render a hand salute out of uniform, but that does not change the law for civilians. When in civilian clothes, outside, you place your hand over your heart. Read the US Flag Code or military regulations.

In his defense i probably wouldnt have even recognized hearing the National Anthem though, that singer was really bad. I wouldve been "why is everyone clapping ohh shit i missed it!" no really what an ass for not putting his hand over his heart!
