my youngest twin has sickle cell disease he is only 6 years old...it saddens me to see him suffer so but since we moved to warmer climate as suggested by his doctor, he has fewer crisis...my beloved brother just died last year from this horrible disease and I watched as all of his organs shut down...it was one of the most saddest and disturbing thing to watch...RIP "Bubba" I will always love you forever, and ever, and ever, and ever!
I'm a 38 yr. old woman wtih this disease & I've been dealing with it my whole life, it really took it's toll on me in my 20's, I was in & out of the hospital every 3 weeks or so, multiple transfusions has caused me to have iron overload, which is'nt good with sickle cell patients, it will cause you 2 have more crisis than usual... Just recently I've lost site in my left eye due my sickle cell (not a great feeling) being at work and suddenly you can't see out of one eye....I'm just staying strong
hi! I am a mother of a sickle cell young man.. I was very encouraged by the video's that I have just watched. My son doesn't want to be known as a person with scd. He does help video tape sometimes for our local support organization but that's as far as he will go. I think he is a little in denial and really doesn't want to except it. He is trusting God for healing. I believe God heals, but we still have to take care of ourselves.how do I encourage him to take his health more seriously?
