  • I think this pilot is stupid , he flights too close to high power electrical lines.

  • This little helicopter would be perfect for heli-mustering. How big is the fuel tank and what range i could you get from a tank?

  • they look very cool. good speed, great for outdoor recreational use, and i can tell it will be fun flying around for outdoor fun like airsoft to get from place to place. very well done and it might just be the futures best way to move around to different locations.

  • that flies very nicely does'nt it? excellent control.

  • So the turbine only adds about 15g to the originals 30g price??? Still less than a bmw.. I'd have the turbine!!!!

  • This is legit, I want to get one (I have nothing to lose) but a little too expensive for me. Maybe if it was like $10k

  • Ain't nut'in sweeter than a turbine skeeter.

  • Looking at videos today. I like the clip, nice job, have a look at my Home Wind Turbine videos and subscribe or friend me if you like. My patent pending system won a Green Design Contest, check it out.

    Thanks, Sam

  • Beautiful Machine!

  • That is friggin cool! I want one!

  • Put a Dillon Mini Gun on that thing!

  • how much is the turbine?

  • That is so cool...Who makes the Solar turbine?

  • cheap way to log turbine flight hours??? and still have something to show for it after all is said and done

  • im going to get one for damn sure, and they also give you a discount for getting your pilots lic. and geting a few hours logged. $2,000 off the price. and this isnt the only model they make, they make cheaper ones. which are also nice.

  • i got a quote for 55k fully loaded and built. the engine is not to bad. its like 8,000 to 5000 depends on how much it is on the market.

  • como faz pra comprar um destes,?

  • This is turbine-powered.

    Advantage: less vibration

    Disadvantage: much greater fuel consumption

  • sooooo what does ultralight mean. and does a rubber band powerd balsa wood glider count

  • more like a go-cart strapped to a hang glider powered by a lawn mower engine, i wouldnt want to crash one, or fly in a storm... but they seem like an amazing way to get around, within 30 or 40 miles.

  • what the price on one

  • Anybody else notice the power lines? cool chopper.

  • hot

  • wonders with the turbine, wouldn't direct drive on rotor work just a bit better than a belt, whats the life of that belt with turbine?

  • The rotor turns at 100s of revs per minute, the turbine spins at 100s of revs per second. So a reduction gear system is required. Several small production helios use belts. They are made of an almost indestructable material, and multiple belts gives some redundacy.

  • @Dougyelnats quanto custa um destes ?

  • is it safe?

  • 3/4 scale Gazelle two place turbine powered in design to first artical in process ,components and structures materials acquired ,$120,000.00 USD

10% deposit for serial number and delivery date(12 month estimated after 1st flight lead time) only the crew will tell the difference!!

  • CRAZY FROG FTL

  • Now that is just awesome!!! i would do anything to get 1 of those heli's!!! great flight!!1

  • How much will this cost and will you be able to buy one in the UK? It sounds really good!

  • go to their website they have pricing on them.. US dollars was around $32,000 with a deposit of $11,000 usd save $2,000 with flight training classes

  • what kind of turbine engine is it

  • the Wooden kind.

  • Solar T-62

  • can i build it myself.. my dads an ame im sure we can handle it garage style. if not well it will be one hell of a fun thing to wreck!

  • never fly your highly experimental helimaflopper higher than your willing to fall! LOL

  • @tailwheelflier ahahhahahha i dont care if you comment is a year old that was fking hilarious err well i keep lol-ing at the word helimaflopper

  • Kind of a dumb question...But now since it has a turbine, is it still light enough to be and ultra-light?

  • No. The XE and XET are not ultralights. The XEL is only an ultralight because of its restricted fuel capacity and floats.

  • So do you need a full PPL for the XET. Must be the cheapest helicopter for hour building in the world! How much is the XE and XET??

  • I like the sound the turbine makes, very unique!

  • That'd definitely be the best thing to goto work in... Now parking it is the problem, lol.

  • Hello, first of a very loving greeting from Frankfurt after over, I envy you very concerned about this experience, you as a pilot in a helicopter beautiful, really great super class, what it cost to the turbine had not yet seen these, only 162 exec M, your family and love and greeting Merry Christmas to you all Merry Christmas from Germany, and you do not fall from the sky with the beautiful Helicopter always a good landing a nice greeting people Steven

  • lol looks like an rc....im 6 5 260 pounds wouldnt fit me but its cool

  • I'm 5 8 170 pound it would fit me perfectly...if only I had the money! :(

  • Someday someone's gonna design a NOTAR of this, I just know it.

  • Where do I get one?! Who makes the turbine? Where are the dealers for the helo? Any contact #s?

  • Alright, where can I buy one of those?

  • How safe are there things ?

does the motor ever lock up in the air ?

  • He asks a normal question you can answer it normal to fkcing retard

  • it's not a normal question

  • from what i can gather relatively safe as far as autorotational capabilities. hight inertia rotor system. wouldent bet they are very crashworthy. and yes it is not unheard of for an engine failure in helicopters in general. training for these failures is a compulsory part of any flight training syllabus 141 or otherwise

  • Now that sounds like a proper copter lol, whats the turbine, a solarius, no, thats 150hp, a bit overpowered, used in some Rotoways, from old US army mobile field generators IIRC.

  • so this would count as turbine heli time??

  • Really it doesnt need it, the Mosquito has excellent tail rotor authority.

  • But use the exhaust to help with counter torque which in turn would take less tail rotor in turn would put reserve power for the rotor system.

  • how much do u think they r. the helicopter?

  • the engine is what is expensive. The engine has to be over , i'm guessing 50K ? The chopper maybe no more than 25K ? Ohh, then avionics plays into that. Super cool though, this is the way to have an aircraft.

  • thx

  • you can get an engine for around $10,000 in the us, check our website for pricing details.

  • @MosquitoAviation Thats not the price of a Solar-turbine or a RR300...Right?

  • $36k for the kit excluding the engine for the turbine version.

  • sounds better too

  • That little thing is awesome! I would love to have one!

  • Sick!

  • sweet I could slang around the hood a lot easyier/w that thing nice.

  • Alot more reliable than a 2 stroke, hopefully the turbine version doesnt cost more than the 2 stroke version. The two stroke is expensive as it is already. But Turbines are the way to go with a heli.

  • It remains to be seen if the Solar T62 turbine holds up. The engine was designed for use on the ground at constant speed in a narrow RPM range, such as driving generators and pumps, not for vehicles or aircraft applications.

  • The Solar T62 was designed to be used in a one man helicopter by the US military and was put into gen sets after the project was scrapped.

  • Are these COOOOOL! helis legal in the UK, assuming I had the money (which I don't! Only fly a Raptor 30 R/C at the moment) ??

    Cheers.

  • whats the fuel burn compared to the piston version

  • wow thats one big r/c heli :P

  • What is the flight time/fuel capacity with the turbine?

I guess it would still be considered experimental, still an ultralight with pods?

  • How come the exhaust stack isn't angled to also help with counter torque?

  • The tail rotor is very effective on these machines so Dwight decided to go straight back for more speed. I think it has been modified since this video was taken.

  • Exhaust counter torque is not used in a helicopter with a tail rotor. The only helicopters that use exhaust as a counter torque are the Hughes/MD 520N and the 600N Helicopters with NOTAR which stands for No-Tail-Rotor.

  • Some turbine exhausts are angled to one side to aide in countering torque.

  • I've seen a few that way but the amount of counter torque is negligible.

  • Actually the Hughes does not use exhaust it is a ducted fan blowing air down the tailboom

  • Helipilot, I have never flown one myself only Helicopters with rear tail rotors and why I respect your comments, my quote was straight from a Helicopter pilot who flies a Hughes 600 with NOTAR for the City of Phoenix Police Department at the Heli Expo 2 years ago. His comment was, "that it was exhaust from the helicopter used in conjunction with a variable-pitch fan driven by the transmission to help stabilize the amount of yaw." I won't argue the point though. Tnks for the correction.
