i'm asking if you believe in the power of prayer could you pray for me and help me get to this new position i would be able to help the less fortunate thank you i'll pray for you too just message me thank you so much <3 the name is Rob God Bless you
I kind of like this version. I hear what everyone's saying about how it's supposed to be a soft song and it's supposed to be pleading, but this is a song painting a picture of war and hate, not just sadness and grief. I loved the "Jesus help me"'s, they sounded like you really were crying out for rescue.
For those who feel this arrangement lacked emotion, I feel compelled to mention: I was in the audience for this performance. Many people--in the audience AND in the choir--were moved to tears, myself included. Even if the choir members did not all feel it individually/ unanimously, I believe that as a whole, the emotion was present. Perhaps you had to be there.
okay how about this, if you're high school's choir can't exceed this performance and/or you have the population of chicago or some other form of suburban population to your school's benefit, then you have nothing to say.
Listening to this almost 4 years after I sang in this choir still gives me chills.
I appreciate all of the comments and remarks so many of you have made. I miss Freeport high school. :) This is only one of the many AMAZING songs I sang throughout my high school career. Check out other Freeport High School (Illinois) videos too- they'll surprise you too. Rock on, Freeport!
my choir sang this. you guys did a VERY excellent job. this song can be advanced if approached correctly. i loved the approach this choir took. the aggressive view was very nice, and i loved the mens voices. great job.
I am singing this song in choir right now, and while this group sounds great, they sound to harsh for the song. Obviously they know what this song means and why it was written. the way they deliver the song is to demanding and severe.
the icelandic section was great. i admired the child-like voices used to interpret the prayer. it was amazing at the "angry guns" part is had a marching feeling like the army. and i loved the closed mouth sound at the "woh" section at the end of each woh. also the "crying jesus help me" at the end i loved the dramatic pause
to emphasize the emphasis of the prayer.
the director defintely knew what he was doing. 10 thumbs up!
let freedom and peace in the decision of infants in relation to, what they will accept as true or not, induce and manipulate their thoughts is as criminal as with adults .....
freedom is, power and treasure of the world's largest ......
Not great. I am really not impressed. Tone quality isn't fantastic (in the back of the throat) and it is really shouty. I don't like this performance.
You who were in the choir brought the perfect emotion to this song. This is a song of heartbreak & saddness,of children wishing someone in the world would help them. There is a hint of Hope included in the song, the hope that all children seem to inherently have, but even the word choice in the song show how much emotion HAS to be in this song.Without the emotion that the singer puts in it, it is just a bunch of words and lines.Words such as "shattered" & "pleading" can't be used without emotion.
this song STILL gives me chills...even after I've heard it how many times I've heard it this past year. Fantastic job all of you :) way to put your souls into it.
wow...goosebumps...I'm doing this in my choir and I think it's really going to help me to put myself into this if you know what i mean, because of the explanation at the beginning. thnaks =)
also i like the voice intro at the beginning, that was cool. i knew the story, but i liked the soft singing background and the explanation. thank you for your video
you sound really good. you really do. i can tell that you have some really strong singers in your group, but what i think makes or breaks this song is sensitivity. i liked the dynamics, which is half of it, but i felt that you were being too strong on the words. you were good on the pitches, and had good harmonies, but if you could try to be more sensitive to the lyrics i think it would add more to your performance
As one of the singers who sang this very song in this choir. We did a great job I think and we sang it knowing the story which you can really tell! I loved this song.....
for those who said we "attacked" this let me clarify since i was in this choir...we sang it as if the children who died were to sing it...all the pain and anger they must of felt...but thank you for noticing the more assertive approach
Overall, a good job FHS Choir! I especially liked the 4-part womens' 2nd verse. The mens' section has a couple "heros," standing out a bit too much. The quietness in the beginning, while the narrator speaks was GREAT! Keep up the good work and keep singin!
Very well done! I love the use of the intro humms :D especially considering it's important to express the story behind it. Did you guys actually have a different arrangement or was the separation of the male/female parts your choice? GJ nonetheless (like the slideshow).

Peace that is a blessing.

I love this song, My womens choir sang it in high school. I love your entire approach to it with the intro and the slide show.
But you guys are missing the biggest thing that MAKES this song.
emotion. feeling.
There is no feeling, your just singing words.
This slide show would have been so effective in touching people had the choir just obtained a sense of sadness, and emotion.

I don't like the men, they have their voice so drawn back in their thought they are smothering the song. =[

They men sang too hard for my tastes.... At times they were on the borderline, if not shouting.
But the blending was amazing.

I like it heavy. I think it made it sound more like they were mad at that point...but then they got sad and reflective again. You know?
