Das Notebook enttäuscht direkt nach dem Auspacken mit seiner Haptik und seinem Design. Mein Fall ist dies nicht. Von der technischen Seite aus kann das Notebook, bis auf das Display, überzeugen.

  • As always, keeping it simple can save a lot of work. Thanks Glendon!

  • mate, wot is the forum link for the toshiba fan on mod?

  • I've just tried this now I'm getting error messages. -.-

  • First of all thanks for making this video. I brought my Toshiba Satellite just over a year ago and ive had no problems untill today. For no apparent reason it just shut down. I powered it back up about 5 mins later and relised it was hot to the point you couldnt put youre hands underneath the laptop. I had a feeling something wasnt right because its been very slow the past two weeks and its genuinely a fast laptop. So i came across youre video folled the steps and it seems alot better! Thanks

  • Toshiba - Were Japanese and can't make computers!

  • can i use a valcume cleaner with a hose at the end?

  • @BlueXephosrule - that works also

  • Thank you soooo much . Mine has been having problems since it was only 3 months old . I sooo didn't want to send it back to Toshiba and the Geek Squad was less than helpful . thank you again !!!!

  • I put a hybrid 7200RPM drive into mine. The fan isn't strong enough to blow air through the vents. Mine was @@## to take apart. Good tip...there is a setting in Windows to make the fan run all the time. It's in the Power Options. I documented it under the E205-S1904 Toshiba forum. This might help some too.

  • thanks!

  • thanks for the advice, it worked for me :)

  • Thanks! My laptop froze within minutes under heavy load. I checked the CPU temp under stress: 88 degrees (celcius). After doing this trick of yours, I checken the temp again: 52 degrees, 36 degrees lower! Now my laptop is running smooth again. I don't even hear my fan anymore, great!

  • @gkruiger how do u check the temp on a computer?? thnx

  • @JayBee272 I used BurnInTest 30 day trial

  • hey i have the same overheating problem myself. Does anyone know where i can go to get this fixed, as i am horrible at do-it-yourself repair type stuff.

  • @FlipDeCoin I don't know about a store, but you just need to stick a vacuum on the vents.

  • hey bro just wanted to get on here to say thanks alot for this video. i got the exact same Laptop and it was realing heating up, tried this today and its fixed, really appreciate it bro

  • I have a laptop and a computer and my computer don't work while my laptop havin a problem same with you all..so I am safe mode now :P

  • I did this and It still keeps overheating and shuttin down

    what should I doo??

  • If you put a vacuum cleaner over the cooling fan, it will cause it to spin at ridiculous speeds and probably overheat the bearings. You need to try and stop the fan from spinning if you want to use this method.

  • Is the overheating caused by AMD chip quality or some thing else?

  • Toshiba sucks D

and apparently yes vacuum makes static electricity. i read it on their forums..

  • But doesn't vacuum cleaners make static electricity?

  • This is brilliant dude. I will definitely be trying this out. Thanks so much!

  • Yes, and I never took it apart either, but now I'm going to have to. No, worries, I've heard of the fans stopping from just dust cleaner and programs, so I imagine I'm not the first to have broken fans after cleaning with a vac.

  • Hey mate. I have been having problems with an overheating Toshiba, I tried this solution, as I am terrible at putting things back together, and now the fans do not work entirely. Any suggestions as to why this occured and how to fix this?

  • @HeavenlyKoRn - i never took it appart, so I have no answer for you on that one, sorry.

  • @HeavenlyKoRn well bro it means that you gotta take it apart a see what the problem is.

my guess is you need to change the fan with a new one and it will work fine.

  • this only started happening recently and I thought it was due to the rise in heat where I live, but I'll give this a go before taking it to the repair shop

    thanks :D

  • the fan on my satellite is way louder than that vacumn right now..

  • Nope... didn't work

  • Haha... Lemme go get my vacuum cleaner

  • Wow! Very nice. A friend of mine gave me his computer and went and bought himself another one because of this overheating problem. I thought it was an overheating issue and after watching your video I decided to try this trick. As a result, I now have a new computer as a spare that works great! Thank you!

  • Glad I have a MacBook!

  • oh i have the same problem ill try this if it works. thanks so much man!!

  • Please help me.... I have a Toshiba Satellite and I have a black screen. The fan is running but no image on the screen. It is a L550s... I am going to try this but I am trying my darnest not to go to Geek Squad and spend another $135. Thank you in advance :)

  • smart man

  • earn too much time

    tnx :D

  • great tip sir.. you are a saint lol, ive been experiencing sudden shutdowns whilst gaming. it feels good to know im not the only one

  • (my sound doesn't work, so sorry if i'm asking this when it's something you said!) you're just cleaning the fan on the bottom and the vent thing on the side right? my toshiba won't even turn on for more than a minute at this point so i'm hoping this will help it :(

  • Would this happen to a any toshiba if not would it happen to a Toshiba Portege R705

  • This is amazing! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • Thankyou this same stuff happend to me! i only used air in a can stuff!

  • Nice Video

  • Awesome !! I had a really bad heating problem where my laptop would just shut off after 10-15 min of gaming which was quite irritating. Was planning to take this apart but luckily I stumbled upon this video.

Tried this & it brought my 70-80 degrees motherboard down to 35-40 degrees. Good lord the amount of dirt I sucked out was huge. Thanks alot for this. You did help save my laptop & now I can finally get back to my gaming.

Thanx for sharing this info !! God bless !!

    :D

  • Thank you. My laptop has been on retard mode for a while. I really needed this tut.

  • thx man ;)

  • Who's the idiot who designed this labtop?

It takes FOREVER to clean the fan!

  • Thnx! Just what I was looking for!

  • hi i have a l550 and having the same problems with it shutting down when i play games...i was reading the comments on here and found one that said something about vacuums having static electricity and causing it to fry your computer permanently ..i was just wondering if an esd bracelet would solve any issues with this because i certainly wouldn't want this to happen

  • Good tip! Concentrating the vaccum's suction with the "buffer" works wonders. After that step, I like to take a small paper clip, straighten it out, and gently dislodge any remaining dust from the fan blades. Then another go with the vaccum. Took my Satellites core temp reading down almost 40%, during a heavy CPU workload.

  • For me it has been a magical solution has dropped from 77% to 39% CPU temperature ... if it works. Before I had the problem after 45 minutes of use ascended the temperature drastically. Thanks Glendon from Spain.

  • So this really works? or is it different for each type of Satellite? Because I have a toshiba satellite l675D and it's CPU temp gets up there, and then it freezes up and shuts off. I've been looking for ways to try and underclock it's cpu speed, but if just needs a good cleaning then I"ll try that.

  • I think this way you will never get all of the dust out. And if it's very dirty, it may just go worse. When i did that, the fan got stuck. You know how hot the comp was after that?

  • @canadiankendoll OH MY GOD THIS IS THE WEIRDEST COINCIDENCE LOL DUDE SO WEIRD

  • I have been using canned air to blow it out...next time I'll give the vacuum a shot.

  • can you use a normal vacuum cleaner instead of a dry one?

  • I have a Toshiba L455-S5975.

So to clean it out, you just put the vacuum hose on the bottom vent and the side vent?

And if yes, for about how long?

  • Very very useful. Before doing this cores were running at 79-80 Degrees and laptop cutting out out, not booting etc. Now the cores are runnning at 40-43 Degrees. Excellent.

  • such a genius...i was just thinking on buying that useless compress air can...i have my big monster vacuum there...time to use it¡¡¡¡

  • the same laptop, the same problem... from spain, thanks a lot!!

  • What i do is, put the laptop on a box/ metal tin or something, just to prop it up, leaving the fan underneath uncovered, it seems to stay cool, without overheating running for 5 days straight ( some of it playing games like black ops, css etc..) but eventually it slow downs , meh im too lazy to clean it :/ let alone take it apart, hope this helped guys,

  • @alextehwiz haha i do the same thing, i use a dictionary and kind of maneuver it so it's not on the fans

  • Nice,.. was thinking it's about time to clean mine,. don't forget tweezers just in case big chunks of dust. thanks for sharing the idea! BRILLIANT!

  • lol@usaa booklet. They have the best customer service.

  • thx for this. Had it serviced and cleaned last week. same prob after only one week. i read that running it on power save mode helps. done this 5 minutes ago and laptop immediatley cooled down. strange!

  • @2auge - that is strange, I guess they did not clean it out well enough!!!! Glad this tip helped you out!!!

  • i would remove the battery before i did this

  • Glendon, nice advice, I usualy disambling the laptop for clean and put new termic cream at the cpu, but this idea is cool and faster. Now i have problems looking for one manual for toshiba a75 reset cmos and can not find it at google. well I will cont with my search.

  • did that and now the fan isn't even turning on anymore...

  • Thanks a lot! Did it on my Toshiba Satellite P300D and it worked like a charm!

  • it works!amazing!thnx a lot dude!u saved me!:)

  • man thanks a lot, this really helped! toshiba have to do smth with this.

i ve got a question-do i need to use a piece of paper between computer and dust cleaner?

  • @biziziut - I did it to give the dry vac I was using more power, a smaller vacuum may not need it, good luck!

  • Another tip: after a while the thermal paste between the heatsink and the CPU casing dries out (even faster when machine is not dusted regularly- I recommed doing it monthly). This is the cause of overheating. You can replace thermal paste yourself if you are confident how to do it(there are lots of video guides on how to do it). Otherwise get someone to do it for you.

  • @Trigg3rHippie - a even better tip is Toshiba to fix the damn problem!!!! I have had well over 15 laptops and this was the only one to do this!!!! I did it a total of 15 times no issues! Another tip sell the Toshiba!

  • @Glendon007 I agree, the heat does nothing good to the computer but first reaction to the problem should be cleaning (and replacing thermal paste) using methods I described in previous posts not hoovering it. And yes- shame that Toshiba has not done more to improve the cooling system.

  • @Trigg3rHippie - well while you are talking about damage what do you think all that heat is doing to the computer?

  • What you are doing is wrong. The hoover creates a lot of static electricity and it is possible to damage your components fatally. If you knew anything about computer repair you would never do that. You may get away with it once or even 10 times but at 11th time you will cause hardware failure. So people: do not do the stuff shown in this video. Buy a can of computer duster spray, disassemble and then clean your machine. Hope this will save at least a few machines form demise:)

  • I cleaned like u show in ur video, atm is working, thanks but im testing for now, p

Cus when i was playing something, like pes2011 or other game my

laptop shutdown by him self Now ill show how works

before i cleaned up, cpu was 67%or higher and fan was 90%

after( CPU is 36% and fan always 56 or less thanks once again for fix my problem :P i hope u publish more this videos thanks mate.

  • iv done this with desktops, hope you dont mind, I posted a link on my favorite laptop forums

  • Toshiba will not change this until a new generation of laptops come out.

They new about this problem with the 2007 series, BUT they kept the exact same design... Why? Because it's there body, there logo, there design. Changes to the heat sink would result in design informalities which toshiba rather ignore.

My laptop got to 98'C (208'F) with only 14% CPU before shutting down.

    Toshiba Satelite A660 - i7 740QM Clarksfield Qaudcore @ 1.73Ghz (3.GHZ TB) 6GB DDR3 RAM,

    +512MB Nvidia Geforce 310M

  • It's not your laptop your heat sync it's your BIOS. Laptop computers issue faulty BIOS after the warranty expires in order to force you to buy a new laptop.

  • THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH been waiting for a solution other than taking the thing completely apart Thank you sooo much i was always shutting off while im playing games thank you

  • Right couple weeks on and the method has worked like a treat, laptop is faster and more quieter. So far so good.

  • I have a solution.. Open the laptop and then replace the thermal compoun. If you dont know what a thermal compound research on youtube!

  • I have the same problem about using for like a year... Is it possible to upgrade the HDD fan to 7200 rpm?

  • Just tried this, dont know how much of a difference its making so far.

I will tell you though that when starting up the fan started making a weird sound then the fan blew out a puff of dust from the side, maybe I dislodged the dust in the laptop I dont know.

But it did boot up faster however this could be due to the fact I just shut it down, did the method, then rebooted it.

I will post too see if any significant improvement soon.

  • oh wow thanks so much for posting. my fan was getting so loud, that i could hardly even concentrate. I originally was looking for videos to replace my fan, and glad I came across this instead. Now, my laptop sounds like it's brand new :-)

  • I have this exact same laptop and my fan just went out from the overheating problems =(

  • I ve got the Toshiba Satego X200 , its the same thing but with european like model name, and every year end of spring/begin of summer I had to let it cleaned properly by the Toshiba Service , because it is not regular dust , thats whats confusing people. It is the - " fine particulates matter dust " - and believe it or not , IT IS A BYPRODUCT OF THE COMUTER ITSELF , and no users fault !!!

  • I just tried this method, and when i turned the laptop on, the fan is not working. Is this normal?

  • Right Im trying this next time I hoover my room as Im getting sick of Rome Total War lag!

Will post results after I do it.

  • I'm on that computer at the moment.

  • Is this in anyway dangerous to the laptop components etc..? Thanks :)

  • @bugatti456 - I did it 6 times with no ill effects, hard to say what your experience will be

  • if you blow air into the exterior heat sink while you vacuum at the same time . i opened mine up and the heat sink looked like a clothes dryer lint trap it was so full of lint

    and dust

  • Man I thought I was the only one that did this, and scary part is I have like that exact same laptop!

  • @Aparsanlal it seems to be a common problem!

  • hey idk if u still got this laptop but i do.. n the overheating hasnt been a HUGE problem but it does shut off sometimes ima try wat u did here tommorow..oh and...i dk if u know alot about this laptop but my friend dropped it n now the input were u plug in the charger went a bit inside do u have any idea how i can pull this out??i cant charge my laptop no more and im dieing!

  • @tokesntobi - I know Toshiba needs to do something about this!

  • There's also a program called speedfan that reads the heat sensors inside pc;, and it's free. google it.

  • i subed =)

  • ty it worked great =)

  • My toshiba old as hell and just started overheating was jus about to throw it in the trash when i saw this and im back in the game!!! I aint gotta job so wouldnt of been able to buy a new one bigup Glendon thanks so much!! and to all that scientific bullshit about static electricity blah blah it saved me a bunch of cash an still runnin fine.

  • man i sware me as a 12 year old i was to damn scared to open up my laptop so i finally watched this and omg i didnt try it yet cause its 11:35 pm but tomorrow i will try it and if it worx i effing luv u!!! no homo

  • my toshiba a300d get overheating problems while playing games after 1 year, then i used a desk fan to cool it xD gonna test this tommorow

  • Thanks 2 u

  • tohsiba is a bitch

  • My not-even 6 months old Toshiba Satellite overheats even while playing Minecraft for over 15 minutes, and cleaning the fan doesn't seem to do it. :/ Could open it and fix it myself, but would lose the warranty. Suppose I'll have to send it in, for them to do a job I could do myself in about 10-20 minutes.

  • hey mate. Thanks for the info but, arent we supposed NOT to use a vacum cleaner near the hard drive due to static electricity?....Its a major "DONT" in order to keep your HDD safe...

  • @tigrafwedw - well it is a major no no I have done 3 times with no ill effects. You could take it apart and clean it, but unless you are particularly handy that can be a issue there! Thanks for watching!

  • @tigrafwedw Good thing my HDD is all the way across laptop and I have 2 Spare HDDs

  • well hey ty man some how the problem fixed once i took it completly apart and blew out dust from the fan itself it eventauly kicked on when i booted the computer back up it might have been jammed for awhile till i moved it ty for the help :)

  • You saved my laptop!

  • Thank you man it worked for me!

  • hey glendon my friend gave me his labtop becouse it would shutt off 15 mins after it was on and i noticed while opening it all up that the fan dosnt spin when its on and he told me he had a lapfan and even that made it shut off in 15 mins of it being on and yes it gets a lil hot but shouldnt i dont know what would you sedjust i do to try and get it to stop shutting off ?

  • @gods2armys - it needs new fan, more than likely it experienced equipment failure from excessive use.

  • Hey, Glendon - thanks a million for this tip, dude!

Had the same problem with my laptop overheating, and your cleaning tip did the trick. Brilliant! :)

  • @DanaDecay -good deal!

  • Caution...

I did this to my Satellite A100 about a year ago and the fan exploded..

  • @Submann666 -sorry to hear that dude! I have cleaned my P305 three times and now issues, then again my laptop is just a year old.

  • @Glendon007 hey dude, thnx a lot,i hope it works,i got quite mad now,i just bought my toshiba laptop and it is shuting donw every 30 minutes,i was doing same thing but without that paper,so i hope this works ;) and i can't belive that toshiba does same mistakes on all their laptops, ive read that they recalled 42 000 laptops because they were MELTING and people got serious injuries,i was like WTF,and on newer models its still overheating,i don't understand are they retarded or what :S

  • @Cr0Fighter -it is a bitch, I hope this helps you out!

  • @Glendon007 :( it just boosted time of not shuting down for like 1 hour...ill take it to be fixed....im so fucking mad on toshiba, that shit csts a lot and it shouln't have such a stupid problems,it is fricking anoying, but i hope it will work after they take dust out, cause i can se that some parts are really stuck in :S,unbelivable,my 8 years old laptop works better than this one...

  • @Submann666 how did it explode? did it go on fire?? i have satellite a100 n it giving me big problems now.. its shuts doen automatically after starting it.. what should i do?

  • @liz2490

It was the fan there explode, no fire or anything.

If you have to clean it then hold the fan with a needle and then blow og vacuum it.

  • Thanks for the great tip Glendon! I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 that has just started locking up and shutting down. When I checked the ECO utility the CPU temp was up around 93% with the fan going flat out.

I will give this a try and let you know hoe it goes. The vents don't look dusty bu that doesn't mean there isn't a buildup inside I guess...

  • @Talos1963 -that is exactly what happened to me! My computer would just shut down and the air was hair dryer hot coming out of the vent. I did not notice a lot of build up my self, but the performance of my computer went back to normal immediately after I did it. Good luck , hope it works out.

  • @Glendon007 Been meaning to reply before now. Vacum has certainly improved the problem dramatically. Air venting from the Laptop is still warm but not burning. Fan runs fast less often. I'm still concerned as to what the heat will be doing to surface mount components. Laptop still under warranty so will probably get it checked out before that expires. Thanks for the tip Glendon!

  • @Talos1963 -Glad to hear it, I did not notice the build up either, but my computer did it would shut off without warning! I live on my laptop so it was a huge concern.

  • @Glendon007 Situation much improved. Thanks for the tip Glendon!

  • amma try it tonight,, Hope it works.

    Thanks :D !

  • I have a toshiba equium which overheats CONSTANTLY. I'm gonna try this, i hope it works!

  • @editexel - when mine started it had me HEATED and I looked for some solutions and it worked like a charm! Good luck my dude!

  • @editexel -good luck dude!

  • Hey very cool video Have the same laptop (as well as a desktop for youtube vids) I would have never thought of that~ thumbs up Glendon!

  • thanks bro i got a toshiba usually overheats ;)

  • @lovok123 -dude I thought I was going to have reload everything! I hate that crap, but I did a little research and BAM I was stroking again! No problem! Thanks for watching!

  • Professor Glendon: WoW! You are really a jack of all trades. I thought that you were just a Storage Auction Guru. Now I know you are also computer nerd/guru I will be contacting you whenever I have some major computrer problems.LOL..

  • @prettysteeve47 -LOL now that is funny, yes I am a nerd HA Nerds rule the world!
