Downfall to the Ak-47 is ammo is not as readily available as an AR. Figure this, an outbreak occurs and the national guard is called. They are over whelmed. There would be abandoned AR's everywhere. 5.56 would be so common its insane, way easier to find than 7.62

Also I have an un fired 8 gauge slug, it is industrial, meaning not mean for any type of hunting, or warfare my uncle said when he gave it to me that they use them to punch holes in thick steel now. 8 gauge is stupid, so is 10, you would want a 12. ammo is plentiful. Ammo is all that would matter in a zombie apocalypse.

I'd do a few trigger-muzzle-mag release-red dot sight mods on that AK. Your shotgun is best for taking the legs (aim for the knees) out on zombies (00 or #4 buck). It won't kill them, but it will put them to ground. The knife is good but if they get that close?? Remember.. @PooPoo2U yea i think finding the bayonet for that ak would be the best knife option. as for zombies people never think about the fact u dont need a big round to destroy that zombie brain. one of your best options would be a bolt action 22 with tons of mags and 2 backup guns in larger more reliable calibers. but using 22 allows you to conserve your serious rounds for emergencies.
@njmvermont: Forget that, my choice would be the first Class 3 I ever bought: the American 180 .22 machine gun, then maybe try to outfit a bayonet on it for good measure.

@njmvermont True, it would be good to have a Mosin Nagant in a Zombie outbreak. ammo for it is usually cheap, plus, if you don't have a gun they are usually relic's so you wont have to wait for them.
This is a good guide cause everyone has an ak47, pistol and a combat knife. The downside wherever your going (because you said you would bring) you wont last long without food and water and if a pandemic like this happened the early birds to raid supervalue would probebly have the best chance of survival realisticly. Pluss why would you go anywere your best bet is to hold up in the safest place you know, and food and water would be an accential.
@RapidReaperJohn everyone should have enough canned food to make it for aleast two weeks if not a month even if you are eating canned tomatos raw. best chances you have are raiding downed homes now this is a 5 things videos so an ak pistol bottle of water and pack of crackers wont help much so. the pack i said i would have ammo but realistically would be batteries first aid food canned and beans rice and such and iodine tablets for water purification a few good sources for fire

Thank you for addressing the reloading issue...consider how precious one second- or two- can be in a fight, with guns or otherwise. Many youtube (security camera) videos show fights starting and even "ending" in two seconds, take a look at some.
Upside-down guns for reloads are not wise. You lose your cheek-weld and shooting grip, using extra time/effort to regain them.

Dude pretty much no guns are illegal in US. You can get a full auto one if you're over 21 and not a felon. You can even get a grenade launcher (with HE frag grenades for it) if you wanted. Assuming you know how to fill out the paperwork and live where they're legal, of course.

For those who will say that either the AK sucks or something can go suck on their COD disk. This is the real thing not fake! So there is no favorites really so deal with it! Also guns cost a lot and he might only have had the money to buy these guns. (Probably many others) but the AK is also very durable. Doesn't require much cleaning and shoots a 7.63x63mm round. It's bigger than a 5.56mm (M4 round) or .223 round (same thing)
@NBshadow97 i own am m4 and a few ak's the wasr shoots almost as good as the arsenal my dad has two wasrs that need new barrels he used them so much never a jam other than using drums i would argue with any one that the ak is the best rifle ever made but the sights and safety are shit but can be fixed with optics of other ways

Spend a few days putting 5.56 through a .223 and come back when it's beaten itself to death from the higher pressure or blows up from the shorter barrel throat grabbing the bullet when it fires.

The AK is the most commonly used assault rifle in the world meaning finding ammunition and extra magazines much more plausible. Maybe it's just me, but the LAST THING I'd want to use in a zombie apocalypse is a big loud gun. Shoot just one zombie, and summon every zombie within a mile to your location with the bang, then you have to fight your way out of a hoard of 100 zombies. No good.
What you want is a nice quiet aluminum bat for when they get close. Durable & powerful. When they're a little ways off, use a 25 caliber subsonic break barrel air gun. Deadly accurate & nearly silent. Low maintenance. Cheap ammo.
everyone knows guns are for PEOPLE in the zombie apocalypse and for hordes... 5 things for me would be yes the ak, a machete, flint, marry jane, and good ol bow n arrow... of course i would actually be packing a little more... with a group of 5 2 packs of ammo 1 of books, and 2 more for water and the other for various equipment like scopes mags knife sharpener, aaand do not forget the pain killer and some other medical needs... last but not least everyones got a sword and a handgun.. used rarely
So a Taurus 92/Beretta M9 is about 2lbs. Why would you carry that on your person when you could carry a Glock 17 or 19 and a lot a 33rnd mags? Also consider getting an AR15. ammo is a TON cheaper then 7.62

@shane220222 the best safety is not having your finger on the trigger and a course between your ears. Cheapest 20rnd box I've ever found for 7.62x39 was $10, .223 was $6 for a box of 20. Both brass FMJ. The reason is due to the fact it cost less to make the round. If 7.62 was cheaper and more effective then our military and LEO would be dry humping AK's like a teenager. I'm not hating on AK's, they are great guns esp if you are shooting non stop without cleaning them.

Rabies, for one, can be considered a zombie virus for the things it can cause from one bite from a mammal. No one really worries about it unless all the sudden a rabies outbreak occured.

With genetic manipulation, the military could weaponize a virus that would turn soldiers against their own side. I don't think that they could reanimate the dead; but they could use an infected human like 28 Days Later. Rabies is a lot like the zombie virus, if they could decrease incubation time from week(s) to hours then we would have problems.
@USMCWelborn 22s are the most likely to jam caliber gun made it might be the ammo and the gun might be picky about its ammo and not sure about the high cap mags most the time they are more prone to fail then others. the ak is one of the most reliable firearms ever made. all so if you dont hit the zombie in the head the 22 isnt going to do much and head shots are head on a standing target let alone a moving one if the zombie is missing a leg or just slowed down from impact helps alot
@Diehardstelers i didnt forget about slugs just takes away from the shot guns biggest point wide spread damage it hypothetically it only takes a 22 to the brain to drop a zombie and under pressure try saving your ammo when 5 zombies are rushing and doing perfect head shots. so buckshot bird shot number 4 shot all have better advantage then a slug

This is a good guide cause everyone has an ak47, pistol and a combat knife. The downside wherever your going (because you said you would bring) you wont last long without food and water and if a pandemic like this happened the early birds to raid supervalue would probebly have the best chance of survival realisticly. Thank you for addressing the reloading issue...consider how precious one second- or two- can be in a fight, with guns or otherwise. Many youtube (security camera) videos show fights starting and even "ending" in two seconds, take a look at some.
Upside-down guns for reloads are not wise. You lose your cheek-weld and shooting grip, using extra time/effort to regain them.

For those who will say that either the AK sucks or something can go suck on their COD disk. This is the real thing not fake! So there is no favorites really so deal with it! Also guns cost a lot and he might only have had the money to buy these guns. (Probably many others) but the AK is also very durable. Doesn't require much cleaning and shoots a 7.63x63mm round. It's bigger than a 5.56mm (M4 round) or .223 round (same thing)

The AK is the most commonly used assault rifle in the world meaning finding ammunition and extra magazines much more plausible. Maybe it's just me, but the LAST THING I'd want to use in a zombie apocalypse is a big loud gun. Shoot just one zombie, and summon every zombie within a mile to your location with the bang, then you have to fight your way out of a hoard of 100 zombies. No good.
What you want is a nice quiet aluminum bat for when they get close. Durable & powerful. When they're a little ways off, use a 25 caliber subsonic break barrel air gun. Deadly accurate & nearly silent. Low maintenance. Cheap ammo.

@shane220222 the best safety is not having your finger on the trigger and a course between your ears. Cheapest 20rnd box I've ever found for 7.62x39 was $10, .223 was $6 for a box of 20. Both brass FMJ. The reason is due to the fact it cost less to make the round. If 7.62 was cheaper and more effective then our military and LEO would be dry humping AK's like a teenager. I'm not hating on AK's, they are great guns esp if you are shooting non stop without cleaning them.

With genetic manipulation, the military could weaponize a virus that would turn soldiers against their own side. I don't think that they could reanimate the dead; but they could use an infected human like 28 Days Later. Rabies is a lot like the zombie virus, if they could decrease incubation time from week(s) to hours then we would have problems.

3 as much weed as i can carry (I live in holland)
4 A backpack filled with dorito's
5 a crowbar to break into a supermarket for when i run out of dorito's or get bored of fapping to the same girls...

You dont need a damn 7.62 to bring down a zombie. Me? I'd choose a marlin 795 22 with 50 round mag and barreta 9mm.

@USMCWelborn 22s are the most likely to jam caliber gun made it might be the ammo and the gun might be picky about its ammo and not sure about the high cap mags most the time they are more prone to fail then others. the ak is one of the most reliable firearms ever made. all so if you dont hit the zombie in the head the 22 isnt going to do much and head shots are head on a standing target let alone a moving one if the zombie is missing a leg or just slowed down from impact helps alot

everyone always forgets about slugs, Rifled slug accurate out to 75 yards and have as much muzzle energy as 50 cal.

@Diehardstelers i didnt forget about slugs just takes away from the shot guns biggest point wide spread damage it hypothetically it only takes a 22 to the brain to drop a zombie and under pressure try saving your ammo when 5 zombies are rushing and doing perfect head shots. so buckshot bird shot number 4 shot all have better advantage then a slug
