I think you misinterpreted Kate's comment to Meryl to "suck it up". She had been complimenting her and wanted her to accept the compliment. All of the actresses in the category were very deserving of the award, but after 6 nominations, I think it was Kate's turn to take home the trophy. She was amazing in both "The Reader" and "Revolutionary Road". Kate is so incredibly talented and seems to be a wonderful and very down-to-earth person. Not sure how you could dislike her for that...
