Honestly I care about the Burmese Situation but Ban Ki Moon is now the "Ban Ki Moon" of the UN and not the "Ban Ki Moon" of South Korea.
He will most likely do nothing because Russia and China will likely tell him not to do anything. The UNSC cant do anything if theres just 1 veto. Right now it looks like theres going to be 2

It's possible that veto's may well arise, but it doesn't mean that the requests shouldn't be made. It continues to raise awareness and bring the issue to light.

Do you or anybody think the Myanmar junta is just gonna back down and surrender power to Aung San Suu easily without a fight just because some UN envoy has been sent to Burma? Answer: No. You are forgetting that junta has backing from India, China, and Russia, maybe even France. Maybe someone should put pressure on them and other corperations that do business there to do something about it.

I pity the people of Burma and praise the monks for leading march to protest against such cruel government. But now the monks are beaten and imprisoned. Protesters killed on daily basis. Recent: a japanese journalist. Minority ethic groups harassed. It's just unfortunate that we really can't do anything about it since certain politically, powerful nations like China will defintely be playing a role on the issue.

I actually think America is a great country, especially since we've stopped supporting insurgents and dictators (nicaragua, iraq, saudi arabia, pakistan, phillipines, panama, etc etc), but the commentor before me suggested boycotting China. Most of you are probablly placing your hopes on the UN to do something about Burma. Unfortunety, the UN has no real power to do anything about it. The junta has backing from India, and China & Russia: both pernament members on the Security Council. China, Myanmar's main ally, will indefinitly veto down any UN resolutions on Myanmar. I afraid it's up to individual nations to do something about it.

Well, I wouldn't say the UN is basically "worthless".. it may be a wrong term.. Let's just say that it's a global social disease that is deliberately spreaded to consume the world, eventually into a one-world order.
The UN itself is basicallyl a government. With one government running the world, we're all fucked. What if it becomes corrupt, then the whole planet becomes corrupted, and it would be difficult to quarantine from whatever mass hysteria grows from the political power source.
