Thanks, you are absolutely right, nothing compares to Le Mans! Next time, I would suggest that you go enjoying the sounds in the nite at the Arnage corner, you will get the cold chills. Talking about haunting sounds...
By the way, in all respect, this video is not accurately named, we are not talking about "Mulsanne" here, this is the entrance of the "Hunaudieres Straight" but more commonly named in the English terminology "The Mulsanne Straight". I don't know why but it is an important mistake that leads all international fans to confusion! In the Le Mans history, Mulsanne refers strictly to the "Mulsanne Corner" located at the very end of the true "Hunaudieres Straight".
The ultimate! The excitment of the first hours has calmed down, now the serious stuff is starting..We've got to survive the night. This is "the right stuff"! The sound of the machines carried by the cool wind into the nite! It's magic! It is like a reassuring company that we never want for it to stop... A Le Mans kid.
If the second last LMP was an AER motor, at this time in the race it would most likely have been one of the Paul Belmondo Courage, because they are the only ones that were still counting laps in at the 9 hour mark. Either that or the Intersport/Miracles Lolas on a charge before they fell out of the running 30 minutes later.
I really like the sounds when they are further down the Mulsanne straight. It's almost haunting, I stood on the banks of Terte Rouge on the inside last year and saw the headlights heading down the straight with the sound too... I won't forget that, ever! Nothing, absolutely nothing, compares to Le Mans.
I like the sound of the Porsche without the sequential gearbox

that second last LMP car has a rather low-pitched engine sound... Audi R10?

in 2005 there were only the "old" R8 V8 petrol engine

Its a 2ltr trubo I4. Most probably an AER motor if it is from 2005.

That Judd GV4 from 0:20 to 0:40 sounds so sweet as does that GT3 at 0:55 and 1:01 - my two favourite engines from Le Mans of all time I think!
