All I wanted was a popsicle; and a Para Driver. I hate my mom. I do, however, love sweepable parametric EQ, which so makes sense for live acoustic gigs.
Nice presentation. I think the box itself does what it does well, but the result is less than "magic." There is a point at 3:10 where you disengage the unit and the sound is better than anything to box can do. I've had that experience a lot myself, unfortunately. I want to find something that works well with a solid body (Brian Moore) with a piezo pickup. Your daughter is a little sweetheart.
Man, thank you so much for taking the time to make these reviews. The world is a better place with generous people like you and your adorable daughter. Cheers!
It really depends on the pickup(s) i hate to say it but i've been using this as a TRANSPARENT D.I. for 10 years. Haven't had to use it in active mode at all.
even on this video i'm prefering the sound of the pickup without unit on.
it is an extremely good D.I. and some folks like the effected tone/compression.
it is a nice D.I. with or without the controls set active. But, i prefer the uneffected tone and just use the EQ of the PA system.
@BlizzySOAD Absolutely. I'm using it tonight with an Ovation. I've also used it with solid body guitars and bass. The tone sculpting possibilities are so vast that you could use it with anything that will plug into it.
The sound still sounds very thin & quacky. Is there a way to fatten up the sound & try to make sound more "natural acoustic" than "electric acoustic"?
Just wanted your thoughts on where to put this DI in the signal chain (specifically if running straight to a PA via the xlr output) while having time based effects like reverb and delay, thanks!
@bigmoney88 If you're running it clean then you could put the effects either side - in or out. Except, of course, if you're running the phantom power via XLR out. Then you'd have no choice but to run them before. If you're running it dirty, with the SansAmp cranked, you'll need to run time based effects post the PDDI. If you run it dirty and place them before, you'll have dirty delays, reverbs, etc.
@Burgerman666 thanks for the reply! I'm gonna continue to play around with different setups. Really enjoy all your videos by the way, keep it up mate! :)
Improve? Maybe not. The T5 is a great instrument with a tone all its own. What it might do though, is help convey its great tone, properly, to the audience. Also, if you suffer feedback problems on stage, the PDDI's notch filter will come in very handy. :)
can you plug one of these into a tube electric guitar amp ok and use the paras EQ to make it sound better? Or is it ideal just to run through a PA system?
Nice demo, thanks for the video!

Every time you played the intro to roundabout, I was so disapointed when the bass didn't come in lol. Good review , and good playing as always.

Great playing man, but it sounds best without the para driver.
Luke650 6 months ago
IMHO the guitar sounds best with it off!. Might good for some "effects" stuff though. Probably not for the price.
robkosinski 6 months ago
Allthough the para driver offers a lot of sound options, the maton sounds better without it :) Thanks for the video!

Could this pedal be used to make a 12 string acoustic electric guitar sound like a 12 string electric guitar??

@MrWildboy214 I'm not sure, to be honest. You might want to shoot a quick email off to Tech 21 to check on that.

Great demo. Nice job going through the various tone selections - many demos out there fail to do that. I'm sold.

Sure, you can use like any other SansAmp - as a stompbox, preamp or DI. These babies do it all.
I'll keep practising the Yes stuff. ;)
