@Chupa1997Girl GP was a rating used by the MPAA from 1970 to 1972 that indicated "All ages admitted. Parental guidance suggested." It was changed to PG in 1972. My mother still refers to movies being rated GP occasionally. I used to think she was crazy until I looked it up.

hehe was able to see this film, when i was in kindergarten (sometime around 86-88') (@ school, not really sure if that was film viewing or what, funny and creepy hehe)
"Not even bullets." What does he think, that bullets are stronger than fire? You can burn a building down to the ground, bullets don't do shit. I don't know why, but that line pisses me off.
It must have been a chunk of the original blob in 1958.The original was dropped in the Arctic where it is still frozen.I wished it was treated as a serious story instead of for laughs.
This movie actually scared all of us little kids in 72'...nowadays the best part of the movie is the role Bugess Merideth played-one of three drunk guys hanging out by a garage at night...the Burgess Merideth while drunk is beyond frightning-the Blob is just a blob but a drunk Burgess is a many dimensional horror...god only knows what it will mumble, scream or laugh at next.
This film was advertised as an "adventure" film of the "campy adventure genre" made famous by such television producers as Irwin Allen "Lost in Space" "Land of the Giants". "Beware of the Blob" was never intended as a serious horror film. Note that even the theme song was a parody of late-50s pop music, and resembled The Champs on the tongue-in-cheek accidental hit "Tequila".
"This movie does a injustice to the 1958 and 1988 versions."
For serious horror fans, true. Taking the 1972 film in the proper context, however, is essential to appreciating it for what it was. The '58 and '88 films were both produced as serious horror films, while the '72 version (with altered title to denote the different context) was a dual parody of both the "'50s monster film" genre and "campy" humor popular in 60's and 70's television shows.
I really prefer the 1958 version. The best!!

Voice-over actor sounds like Dick Tufeld, who did voice-overs and voiced the Robot in the "Lost In Space" TV series (CBS 1965-68).
