@1981z28camaro Try some tools like CCleaner, and also unstiall all unuseful programs rom your computer. In CCleaner there is a tool to show which programs start when the computer starts, disable everthing exept antivirus and other things like Video card driver, sound drivers, CPU drivers ect. Also for faster download speeds just try any old DL Manager, it really does not matter which one. Personally I use GetRight, it has been a true lifesaver a few times now...

@WTFhuh1 lol, there's nothing wrong with P2P programs, IF your smart when you use them, I have used P2P programs for years are never had any issues, I only use P2P to download Music files, it's when people go crazy and download random programs, that's when their PC fucks up.

You can get viruses by simply running your internet browser, do you propose that people just never go on the internet? how would you have been able to leave this comment?

yh norton use to be unreliable and slow pc down but now norton 360 and 2010 is extremely effective i would say up the top with avast and kaspersky

as far as I remember, I had some issues with Avast and Kaspersky, I believe they were either VERY sensitive, even at low detection, or they slowed the PC down.

right now, I'm using Avira, and it's got good detection, without being annoying, and without returning so many false positives. :-)

I think I tried it once, don't use it anymore, may try it again tho, if you ahve Vista, 3 REALLY good programs are

1. Vista Optimizer 2009

2. Vista Manager

3. jv16 PowerTools 2009

not sure which one of these does it, but it will actually solve ALOT of errors in the computer, and and repair system files, also one of them lets you lower how much RAM is allocated to Windows System files, I've NEVER seen a feature like that, they have a crap load of other things too, worth checking out. :-)

and yeah, I had a brainfart, lol, I have tried System Care 3 Pro, and personally, on my computer I found errors and missing files I needed after using it, it's great for my girlfriends computer tho, keeps hers running fast, but she don't do to much on there, uses her email and facebook, that's about it, lol

Im actually using Avast Home Edition, and it's actually pretty good, I must say I have had a lot of crap Viruscanners, that either slowed down the system, but caught a lot of viruses, or ones that didnt slow down my system at all, but suck for detection. and some that were slow and sucked for detection, lol

but with Avast, I don't even notice it, you'll seriously forget your even running a scanner, & I dont even turn it off when gaming, because It doesn't even effect it, detection is great 2

Actually i run XP SP3 and i'm having explendid results with System Care 3 Pro. Also the Smart Defrag is great.

I might try that software in my cousin's computer... I'll tell you how it worked ;)

cool, I would also HIGHLY recommend "System Protect" it's FREE, and it does what it's suppose to, and easily, it can be slightly annoying at first, because it will notify you, but once you choose not to be notified for certain things, the annoyingness goes away, haha but it's great if you wanna protect for example your Windows folder from having files deleted, or any other folder, so when you run like registry cleaning programs, your assured that certain folders don't get F'D with :-)

Yeah I had to reinstall Steam too, it didn't run :o. I think ASC was the problem... but i don't use anti-virus(avast) or anti-spywares(SuperAntiSpyware­) that I used before, they would only slow down my computer. If I do a scan with ASC it detects all trojan/virus/spyware that I might have. But I'm going to try System Protect, because I've heard about it and it seems trusty :)

yeah, it actually started getting annoying again, lol, I turned it off, but when I do a registry scan or anything to do with deleting junk files, I think I will turn it on

also, "Memory Improve Master" is REALLY good, lowers my ram, and DOES NOT slow my computer down, all the ones I have tried, have slowed my PC down, but not this one. You can download a Free version, which is the same, but it lacks like customer service and updates, not a big deal really.

I did have to reinstall Call of Duty the other day after using the programs, the ones I mentioned earlier, so just be careful, but I don't think you would even have to worry, if you get that "System Protect" as it wont delete any files inside a folder than you have protected, so it's kinna like idiot proof, haha for people such as myself :-) lol

I would imagine it would be great to protect yourself from hackers changing your settings too.

I was just looking for a review of the program for you, and it came up saying that sysprotect is spyware/adware, but I think it's another program, because they are mentioning that with the program you have to pay before you can delete anything... so doesn't sound like the one I'm using considering, it's not for deleting files, it's for protecting files, and I haven't been prompted to pay for anything. Just similarly named programs I guess.

also get "Perfectdisk 10" it's very good, one of the better automatic defrag programs, don't notice it all, and my PC runs much better with it, I used Diskeeper 2009 Pro Premier, and it's hard to make up my mind on which one is better, word of advice do NOT use the Duplicate file finder on PerfectDisk, lost a bunch of shit I needed. You have been warned haha.

PerfectDisk will consolidate your free space which is a nice feature too. But it makes deleted files unrecoverable...

every virus canner I try is crap, it either misses viruses, or slows down your computer, I have yet to find a good Viruscanner that can find most viruses, and keep the memory and CPU usage low..

they all work for me, you may not notice a difference when just using a couple of them, but use them all, and you should notice a difference, they each do something that's important for your computer, like defragging, repairing, and compressing your registry, virus scanning, removing temp files, spyware, are all important, for your computer to run smooth.

It depends on your system too, if you got 256 Mb ram, good luck, you probably just need more ram :-)
