I live a very short walk from the 100 line.I used to take it a lot when I was younger, went to 69th Street almost everyday.I don't take it as much as I would like to.I have never been to Norristown on the train,my friends left me and went there today for some odd reason.Great vid though!
@trainmanlars They actually are in working order. Believe it or not these cars see action in the winter when there is snow on the tracks. These cars are used to clear snow and ice off of the third rail and tracks. Because they dont have any other equipment to do it on that line.
At 7:09 Haverford station stop is called after departing Ardmore ave., but operator does not stop at Haverford and goes straight to Bryn Mawr. Why is this?
@GSXRMark99 There was no stop request. This is one of the only High Speed railways that uses a stop request system. There was no stop request and the stop light wasnt on so the engineer continues on.
The conditions look like its one of those days where you feel great to be alive.
Next step (if it hasn't been done already) is to have them run on renewable resources. That may be something to talk/write to the managers or government about. Not trying to be political. More pragmatic.
Thank you for NOT referring to the equipment as trolleys; HUGE misconception. The Rt. 100 line was the Philadelphia & Western RAILROAD until 1970 when SEPTA took over the line. At that time it was downgraded from a railroad to a trolley operation simply by getting rid of the remaining on-line freight customers and isolating the line, which eliminated FRA control of the line. According ot a VERY reliable source the N-5's have more in common with a Silverliner than they do an LRV. Great vid.
Brings back memories, although I left PA before the N5 cars arrived.

it took SEPTA months to repair this line after the rain washed out most of the line.

Every time I take this line I always see if the CTA 6000-series cars are still there. I hope someone restores them to working order.
