Hey Tellman,

do what IMs like Pegan do for expected big launches - videos or the whole site on S3 Amazon or similar, worldwide spread redundant servers.

Akamai and others - spread big multimedia files via their caching servers.

Redundant servers like suggestion above or have a website loaded into server's memory.

More or less public knowledge nowadays, easy to find.

Plain silly for IMs which should teach others how to launch infoproducts. Server failure is not to praise but to fix ASAP.

the only thing i can say is to email the your conference just in case it happen again and you can call in conference style of big business by phone it might work but it depend on on you if you are motived to do it

Why don't you have 2 servers in an active/passive mode. That way when one goes down, the other one automatically kicks in. This can all be accomplished with Linux/Apache.

If you need more info, let me know. I've set this up a number of times and it works exceptionally well.
