  • Nah, I'll pass. The smell alone is too much for me.

  • I tried some Durian once and I was never the same.

  • Good stuff. Even my cat likes it.

  • a lot of people doesn't know that 90% of durian does not taste the best. It is very hard to get the best durian because it's scarce. So, most foreigners who ate durian for the first time tasted a mediocre durian and first impression tells them it sucks. As a native durian eater like myself, it's also rare for me to eat a top notch durian. When i eat mediocre durian, i don't like it either. My point is, if foreigners get to eat the top notch durian, chances are you will LIKE it :)

  • @terenceheng83 Totally get you. :)

  • wait until she fart..It smell fresh durian. hehe

  • @1800GMAMPOS LOL...

  • i ate one and shat blood

  • the thought of durian makes me throw up.

  • OMG, I hate the smell of durian, it makes me want to throw up

  • @magnussandstrom22 It is truly a one of a kind smell, indeed.

  • Frozen doesn't taste it, the only way to go is FRESH! :)

  • @halfanapplee That's what I hear. Fresh is always best. ;)

  • @EvelynPrather You are on the right track though. I meant that by, you didn't get the whole fruit. The thing is, the fruit have been plucked prematurely and exported frozen. And, it's been frozen, thawed, put back into the refrigerator repeatedly untill it being sold. The spikey shell should not be mushy & soggy, should be like crisps hard. When the outer casing is soft and mushy, mostly it indicates the inside being rotten/almost going there.

  • @atsven8 We saw Durian Mornthong today for the first time, and checked out a few YouTube videos to see what people had to say. Thank you Evelyn, looks to us, like, right out of the box, you had an open mind, while so many got one scent of it, and lost their nerve. I also noticed every toddler, who have not learned to close their mind, liked it too. Here's too you, "forever young"

  • @jimquantic Speaking of toddlers, when I recorded this video, I gave a little to my daughter and she was 3 years old at the time. She ate what I gave her, but didn't take anymore. I'll never forget her face...kodak moment. Thanks for sharing and yes...here's to you too "forever young." Take care!

  • Every weekend we try a new food or fruit. I've been a vegan for 1 year and 1 month. This week it was PItaya also called Dragon Fruit (white). We also bought Winter Melon, and Korean Melons.

  • @nawmmbr I've only tried Dragon fruit and I didn't like it. Thanks for sharing!

  • @EvelynPrather Was the inside of your Dragon Fruit Pink/red or was it white. The pink is supposed to be bitter the white is sweet. We tried the white one. I liked the white one!

  • @nawmmbr I remember it being mostly white with a little pink/read in it. It wasn't very sweet tasting to me. :(

  • @nawmmbr Mine was white on the inside. It was juicy but not overly sweet, and refreshing!

  • Unfortunately, I bought the Durian before watching your video. It was .98 cents a pound, so I spent $3.00. I let it thaw out (about an hour) and I opened it. I thought it was rotten! When I opened it, this creamy, yellow stuff came out. The fruit is in compartments. There is like a brown seed, and then a custard that surrounds it. We ran while filming the video. It had a rancid smell!

  • @nawmmbr Wow, it cost a lot more where I am. Did you taste it? It does have a strange smell!

  • @nawmmbr That's disgusting. Frozen ones in a package/container is the best represantator of the Durian fruit. Almost near to the Fresh ones. The fresh ones (rippened/plucked from the tree/) tastes much more better. In terms of sweetness, savory, aroma, and texture.

  • hey, i would like to thank you for being so respectful for when you eat durians, unlike other videos on youtube or peoplewho make a big deal out of it. even tho it has a smell that many people who find unappealing, it still represents culture. so thanks again and much props to ya =]

  • @DustyXProductions You're welcome! I actually like the taste, but the first time, was a very new experience for me. Thanks for stopping by!

  • I'm from Malaysia & I'm eating durian while watching this video. Its durian season here. I just bought some fresh ones for $2 per kg

  • @zdepth Cool! :-)

  • sheed i aint taste no pineapple just pure sweet onion gross!

  • Great review Evelyn! Your reaction was classic! I bought my first frozen whole durian a while ago, after watching your video. You totally convinced me to try it ;) I'm still not sure what I think about it, but I like making other people try it!

  • frozen is bad u shld try those from malaysia =)

  • MAN THAT STUFF IS HORRIBLE

  • I eat these their yummy

  • Oh Ive had these, I used to eat them when i lived in puerto rico ^^

  • Haha, your facial expression was precious! I'm sold. I'm gettin me some durian! :)

  • My dad and brother and I tasted it last night when it was still partially frozen, so it was like eating frozen yoghurt. It tasted a bit like persimmons to me.

  • good video. i tried that brand. but i like it better fresh.

  • @khmerbraveheart Thanks! I've never had fresh durian, but I will get one and hopefully do a video about it. Thanks for commenting!

  • When I was really young I could not stand the smell but as I grew I got used to it and now love it. Durian texture is like custard its one of those fruits that grow on you. For a foreigner it would stink but not when you get used to it then you would love the smell. I dont find it stinky at all.

  • @DryRice I couldn't stand that smell either, but I have found that I really like it. It does have to grow on you. I actually don't mind the smell either. It all had to grown on me though. Thanks for sharing!

  • I have been very curious about this. Thank you for making this video. Your facial expression is priceless, I was like does she like it...you look like your just not quite sure about it lol. I'm glad you described it for all of us who are curious! Very brave you are :)

  • @aRawLifestyle Thanks for commenting! I've tried it again since this video and I like it. I plan to purchase a fresh one and not frozen. We'll see. It definitely is an acquired taste. :D Take care!

  • I hope you get the real fruit and open it up instead of having it frozen!

  • @heywannamakeout I plan to do that and maybe I'll make a video. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Ive heard that you can make stinky ice cream out of it

  • @BenivolentWarlock

    Really, do share! :)

  • this Call king Of fruit in malaysia lOol

  • nice vid. very honest.

  • @dduong4505 I've tried it again and I must say I like it. :)

  • i'm an addict to it

  • Your faces are so funny.

  • actually i find it really funny, u're d 2nd person says it smells like onion!

    haha

you should probably taste those real, fresh ones.....it'd propably taste better, and it also depends on the season. x

  • @lucile1010

Yeah, you're right about the fresh ones. I need to attempt it again...lol. We'll see! :)

  • IS SO GOOD MAKE YOU WANNA SLAP YO MOMMA

  • @sirloin13 Okay...I've said that in one of my videos somewhere...LOL.. I wouldn't compare it to that, not my favorite...lol..Take care!

  • im impressed. i tried it once and literally vomited.

  • Whatever u do, no NOT try the frozen type. Fresh is more expensive-but much tastier!

  • wow...glad that you like it...

i'm 12 from indonesia and durian is a favorite fruit in this country. durian is very delicious not like what they describe on the video...

i can eat a whole durian by myself. i glad that you decide to try it, and like it. :)

  • Wow! I've always wanted to taste Durian. I'll have to check and see if our health food store sells it.

    Thanks for sharing...looks good!

  • It is vile..... the fruit is not as bad as the husk but even so. It tastes like pudding made with rotton flowers and cellery

  • The look on your face had me worried at first! LOL! Glad you like it.

  • i'm so going to have to try it.

  • Let me know how you like it. It is truly an acquire taste.

  • Eating it with your hands is the right way to do it, never with a spoon. I'm from Malaysia and ours are way better than those from Thailand (....of course i'm not biased !) Its durian season now, so you can smell durians in the air. You can find stalls everywhere selling it. Depending on the grade and type, you can eat all you can till you drop for about Rm10-RM12 per person. That's about USD3.

  • Those Thai durians found in Asian markets in USA are lame compared to the rich , aromatic , thick fleshed , sweet Malaysian durians. Too bad we do not have enough to share it with the world :D

  • Frozen kind?! This is the first time in my life to see it being frozen. In my country we never freeze durian and we eat it fresh. Thailand's durian is the best if you can get those. Juicy, sweet and creamy... YUM!

  • I know the fresh is probably a lot better than the frozen. Next time, I will try it fresh instead of frozen. Take care!

  • I like malaysia kind's durian though

    more sweet ^^

  • Really! Thanks for letting me know. :)

  • I would love to see the video of your first taste. :)

  • you are TOO CUTE!! i love the faces you make as you are trying to decide if you like it or not.

i'm so jealous! i've been trying to get a hold of some durian for ages, and i just can't seem to get my hands on any.

p.s. i love the xylophone solo in the background. :)

    keep up the good work!

  • LOL... I wear my emotions on my face. It was like nothing I had tasted before. Yeah, my daughter was performing. :)

    Thanks, rawhope! Take care
