man you're god to me right now. just did the dub-step synth, the kudi day and night synth, attempted deadmau5 chords, and now going for this and anything else you have, they're all dooope
This is going to sound noob-ish if I get this wrong, but is there a way to set an LFO to control amp instead of pitch? If so, then you could just put the whole thing through the LFO and set it to a ramp wave with one wavelength per beat of the song... It might be more mechanical because it's not interacting directly with a compressor but in a pinch it might work...
@TRIAM1D With the Thor you can do this. Thor can route almost any signal to anything. So, try it out> Use the LFO2 and route it to amp level. You can then tweak it by changing the filter section.

thanks for the info. I'm a beginner using propellerhead programs. I will have to watch this vid a few more times to understand it. You gave perfect information and explain it well. I just have a lot to learn when it comes to beat making. It's more than just sampling and creating a drum pattern. Peace keep the tutorial going
quick question when ever i make something new i t automatically loads a preset is there a way to create things right off the bat as init patch? causei have to right click every time and reset to init patch
hey about the crookers sound did you notice that it sounds close when you just use a sine wav and bit crush the crap out of it .? they also added the same notes but a diff patch..a couple octaves above i think its alot closer oh well great vids
thats not it either close but no he uses a sidechained reverb along with it listen to it closely among a couple other things also its not just a ducked sawtoth u almost have it you have a good ear though good job seriously good job
u just taught people a very complex way of sidchaining. just compress an intrument and there is usually a sidechain icon on the compressor, set that n the kick and there you go.
@luckydatevideos Reason's compressors will ask you for a sidechaining signal. Then if your sidechining signal is a drumkick, just split the signal comming from the drumkick, one will go to the mixer to make the sound go throught to the master and other line will go to the compressor to give that signal so it can work sidechaining. You can look for examples here, there are many. ;) I hope it had been helpfull. Text me if you need something.
@luckydatevideos not trying to be a huge F*** , but there is a component on reason's compressor where you input a Bass drum sound (from redrum) and connect it's output to the the compressor's "SideChainIn" and then just compress the synth...and bam...SIDECHAIN
Actually, he accidentally showed people how to make a far more professional sound by using the spider audio merger/splitter. Granted, its a -little- more complex, but getting into the habit of using the spider is akin to say.. keeping your head up in hockey. It's not instinctive to a rookie, but a veteran will live by it.
dude you need to learn the names of things xD it's filter resinance(spelling fail) not resolution xD but great tutorial man....really help me a lot =) KEEP MAKIN VIDS BRO!!! YOU TEACH ME HOW TO MAKE A LOT OF MY SOUNDS!!!
The process through which it is attained is called side-chaining, the effect itself is known as "ducking"....
The side-chain is just a spot in the compressor where it can listen to one signal and use it's input to compress a different sound. Much like the way a vocoder works, you could think of the side chain as the "modulator" and the affected signal as the "carrier."
out of all the replicas... this one is the worst lol no offence.. that benassi sunth is almost impossible to get haha.. but all your other ones are really close or maybe the same! keep going..
@luckydatevideos love the program lol. could use that lol. on my HP Pavilion dv7t-5000 CTO high end notebook. made of Alum.kind of look like a HP Evny, real close.
see this is why i love reason. you don't have to go through all the complicated compressor windows; just drag wires into place. i need to get a copy of it. how much does it run usually?
you're talented, dude. plus, your voice isn't annoying like some other how-to videos i've found. :D i'll check your shit out though. keep doing what you do!
Really love your vids man!:D do you think you can look at for example partystylerz and listen to their sounds. if you know how to do their high energy sounds they are using please show it:) 5/5 of course!
thanks for the tips! i got the bounce back in the bassline on that short demo you listened to, got the drums in, working on filling out everything else, now the bass moves like i was trying for with everything else...cheers! can ya post a small snip of what the stuff in your refill sounds like? so much out there, plenty of tricks here... ne way, kick the hardcore elektro out non stop!
dont think so, because this is a synth not a sample if your talking about the spider audio merger and splitter and the side-chaining (pumping) then yes it will work!
thanks! truth is i dont know how to make a custom faceplate, i just took the faceplate from a combinator i already had and changed the synths inside it... i wish i knew how though!
new ones much better

Your combinator's level doesn't clip which means you haven't made this pattern. If you want to lie. That just keeps you where you are.

simple, set it up on the source (LFO 1 or 2)/ destination(amp) patch at the bottom of Thor.

there's nothing much to it, just a single sawtooth oscillator.... it's the sidechain compression that makes it the "benny benassi synth"

How do you do A Crookers Drum from "My Penny"
l7786 1 year ago 2
You can't actually do the exact sound in Reason but you can get close enough that 99.9% wouldn't notice the difference anyways.
Just for informational purposes, he sidechains the reverb independently of the synth itself and you can't do this in reason.
KevinDolin 2 years ago
You CAN do it fully 100%
but u need to be a pro for that.
