  • thx a bunch!!! couldn't have gotten this specific sound without your help and it sounds greeeaaat to my ears!!!!

  • The program name is in the title, you dunces.

  • what's the name of this programm

  • @YesYesYesMan1 look in the titel.

  • what is this for a programm

  • whenever i hear that synth it makes me smile

  • does the RR kick make its individual sound when sidechaining like this?

  • man you're god to me right now. just did the dub-step synth, the kudi day and night synth, attempted deadmau5 chords, and now going for this and anything else you have, they're all dooope

  • Your combinator's level doesn't clip which means you haven't made this pattern. If you want to lie. That just keeps you where you are.

  • how do u figure out how to make all these?

  • This is going to sound noob-ish if I get this wrong, but is there a way to set an LFO to control amp instead of pitch? If so, then you could just put the whole thing through the LFO and set it to a ramp wave with one wavelength per beat of the song... It might be more mechanical because it's not interacting directly with a compressor but in a pinch it might work...

  • @TRIAM1D

simple, set it up on the source (LFO 1 or 2)/ destination(amp) patch at the bottom of Thor.

  • @TRIAM1D With the Thor you can do this. Thor can route almost any signal to anything. So, try it out> Use the LFO2 and route it to amp level. You can then tweak it by changing the filter section.

  • F**KING LOVE THIS!

  • there's nothing much to it, just a single sawtooth oscillator.... it's the sidechain compression that makes it the "benny benassi synth"

  • could you make a tutorial on the lead synth on endless wing from girugamesh

the synth on 00.16 of the song

  • You should make a Boys Noize tpe synth :D

  • Hey, have you guys seen the Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard workstation? Its perfect for running all your favorite Windows compatible software and plug-ins! Click the link below for videos!

  • this technique is called ducking.

  • @rickilynn1123 wrong! It's called sidechaining

  • please can u sand me the rsn file of this? (attached file on defec7ed3oy@hotmail.it) - for reciprocate if u need something (and i have it) ovviously i'll sand to u! - thanx

  • thanks for the info. I'm a beginner using propellerhead programs. I will have to watch this vid a few more times to understand it. You gave perfect information and explain it well. I just have a lot to learn when it comes to beat making. It's more than just sampling and creating a drum pattern. Peace keep the tutorial going

  • can this wrk with windows vista

  • @leadfarmer13 yeah i used to hav it on vista- only certain vistas though...

  • @leadfarmer13

yes ,i have it and it works like a charm :D

  • can this work on windows vista

  • ok, u should know its called sidechain... and reason is a mess to sidechain in, in other daws u just pick ur kick and turn down the threshhold

  • Yeah i see the difference

    Before it was like

    1,4,1,4

    now its

    1,2,3,4

    your great btw :D

  • quick question when ever i make something new i t automatically loads a preset is there a way to create things right off the bat as init patch? causei have to right click every time and reset to init patch

  • hey about the crookers sound did you notice that it sounds close when you just use a sine wav and bit crush the crap out of it .? they also added the same notes but a diff patch..a couple octaves above i think its alot closer oh well great vids

    nice

  • thanks for uploading these videos!! greetings from mexico!!

  • @elperromasison Hey? how do you do a Rising Build Ups

  • How do you do A Crookers Drum from "My Penny"

  • You can't actually do the exact sound in Reason but you can get close enough that 99.9% wouldn't notice the difference anyways.

Just for informational purposes, he sidechains the reverb independently of the synth itself and you can't do this in reason.

  • You CAN do it fully 100%

but u need to be a pro for that.

  • No, you can't.

  • thats not it either close but no he uses a sidechained reverb along with it listen to it closely among a couple other things also its not just a ducked sawtoth u almost have it you have a good ear though good job seriously good job

  • i always watch the video to the end because you put the music you did :d i love the ends

  • u just taught people a very complex way of sidchaining. just compress an intrument and there is usually a sidechain icon on the compressor, set that n the kick and there you go.

  • what is sidechainig, excuse me for being a bit thick.

  • Its ok, i now know.

  • that is not how reason works, maybe a different DAW

  • @luckydatevideos ight sorry bro. never used reason so my fault on that comment. i use logic and cubase.

  • @luckydatevideos Reason's compressors will ask you for a sidechaining signal. Then if your sidechining signal is a drumkick, just split the signal comming from the drumkick, one will go to the mixer to make the sound go throught to the master and other line will go to the compressor to give that signal so it can work sidechaining. You can look for examples here, there are many. ;) I hope it had been helpfull. Text me if you need something.

  • @luckydatevideos:

reason's compressor has a sidechaining input, i'm sure of it!

  • @luckydatevideos Sorry for the necropost, but I just wanna say thats the way it is in Ableton Live

  • @luckydatevideos not trying to be a huge F*** , but there is a component on reason's compressor where you input a Bass drum sound (from redrum) and connect it's output to the the compressor's "SideChainIn" and then just compress the synth...and bam...SIDECHAIN

  • @OfficialXaQ reason handles it diff. odd comment when thats not at all how to do it in reason live yes pro tools yes reason no peace

  • @OfficialXaQ

Actually, he accidentally showed people how to make a far more professional sound by using the spider audio merger/splitter. Granted, its a -little- more complex, but getting into the habit of using the spider is akin to say.. keeping your head up in hockey. It's not instinctive to a rookie, but a veteran will live by it.

  • its all in the kick, just compress that shit and turn the low gain up.

  • nice one man! :) made my day

  • Yea its side-chain compression....

Quite an easy effect to make but gives the song an awsome struture!!!

  • dude you need to learn the names of things xD it's filter resinance(spelling fail) not resolution xD but great tutorial man....really help me a lot =) KEEP MAKIN VIDS BRO!!! YOU TEACH ME HOW TO MAKE A LOT OF MY SOUNDS!!!

  • Tks!

    10Q very much!

  • thanx man, your demo work quite well for me. much appreciated...dj ROLi

  • I'm pretty sure the technique is called side-chaining.

  • The process through which it is attained is called side-chaining, the effect itself is known as "ducking"....

The side-chain is just a spot in the compressor where it can listen to one signal and use it's input to compress a different sound. Much like the way a vocoder works, you could think of the side chain as the "modulator" and the affected signal as the "carrier."

  • i love you ermm.... again? :D

  • out of all the replicas... this one is the worst lol no offence.. that benassi sunth is almost impossible to get haha.. but all your other ones are really close or maybe the same! keep going..

  • top tutorial m8 thx... nice tip

  • Thks that video his very usefull continue like that

  • wats this program called? and can i get for mac?

  • its called reason 4.0 and it works great on mac

  • @luckydatevideos love the program lol. could use that lol. on my HP Pavilion dv7t-5000 CTO high end notebook. made of Alum.kind of look like a HP Evny, real close.

  • lol if you watch him when he goes for menus its all mac... hehe

  • YES! ive being trying to find out how to do this for ages! thank yoU!

  • Where I get reason?

    Don't wanna buy it... :(

  • torrents..

  • see this is why i love reason. you don't have to go through all the complicated compressor windows; just drag wires into place. i need to get a copy of it. how much does it run usually?

you're talented, dude. plus, your voice isn't annoying like some other how-to videos i've found. :D i'll check your shit out though. keep doing what you do!

  • torrent it for free homie. hit up demonoid for it. the only software worth paying for is ableton. thats the hard ish to find.

reason is pretty common as a torrent for both pc and mac

  • sweet i got it working. thanks for the great tutorials.

one quick question- what are the notes for satisfaction?

  • the technique is called SIDECHAINING. did u not know that or were you just not mentioning it?

  • At the time I made this video I didnt know what it was, as I had just started producing.

  • Really love your vids man!:D do you think you can look at for example partystylerz and listen to their sounds. if you know how to do their high energy sounds they are using please show it:) 5/5 of course!

  • thank you

  • what are the notes to the bass melody?

  • the notes that I played are:

    B B B A# F (Octave down A#)

    hope this helps!!

  • thanks for the tips! i got the bounce back in the bassline on that short demo you listened to, got the drums in, working on filling out everything else, now the bass moves like i was trying for with everything else...cheers! can ya post a small snip of what the stuff in your refill sounds like? so much out there, plenty of tricks here... ne way, kick the hardcore elektro out non stop!

  • hahaha thanks for all the feedback!!

I am in the process of making a demo video for me refill as we speak, should be posted tonight!!

  • man its really cool but its not as grainy or distorted or whatever, its good but its not like benassi

  • 1-5-9-13 bass

    5-9 snare

    4 on the floor baby!

  • whuusa, genius ;)

  • Is there anyway you can do it with Dr.Rex ?

  • dont think so, because this is a synth not a sample if your talking about the spider audio merger and splitter and the side-chaining (pumping) then yes it will work!

  • great advice.

  • Excellent stuff, im pretty new to reason and lovin the tips, thankyou.

  • thanks! glad my videos are helping you out!

  • Haha. Cool. Keep up the good work.

  • Great video dude. Finally a Reason video that isn't a tutorial on something in the manual! And you really nailed the sound.

But how do you get/make the custom combi faceplate?

  • thanks! truth is i dont know how to make a custom faceplate, i just took the faceplate from a combinator i already had and changed the synths inside it... i wish i knew how though!

  • You could use jpeg files for changing or having you own faceplate.
