  • im scaredto go on chairlift now

  • Thumbs up if Orage bring you here !

  • Please check yourself for loose items that may get snagged on the chair. Or you may end up getting dragged and horrifically mangled as the chair lift reverses sending chairs flying and shredding them into bits with you along with them. Have fun skiing!

This needs to be on every chair lift.

  • wud be awesome if it was on a cliff and everybody has their snowboard straps on and flew pew pew all over the pow pow

  • I like how they stand there for like 30 seconds watching it then they think of the idea of running lol

  • Oops.

  • I used To Ride That Lift... <:

  • I wonder what would happen to a detachable, would it even go backwards? prob just get all tangled up.

  • I would take my chances of just jumping off....

  • ah........Fail, I guess.

  • Nice I'm glad someone got their hands on this, I looked this up several years back and you couldn't find it. If you ever operate a lift, you NEED to watch this video.

  • They're probably going, "Shit how the hell are we going to explain this fuck-up."

  • Cool I didn't know they made high speed doubles haha.

  • I'm kind of scared of ski lifts now. O.O

  • This just happened at Devils Head,WI. No one killed thank goodness. Maybe now they will update finally as there chairs are so old.

  • that was bad

how would u like the option of jump or get smashed

  • this shit happened today at devils head in WI, buncha people hurt.

  • @beaner215 yea dude. shit was nuts

  • @beaner215 That's because they didn't wait until they were closer to the ground before jumping. That one woman was 40 feet in the air when she jumped...

  • think i might catch button or bubble lifts from now on!

  • I'm an instructor at Winterplace. A lifty buddy told me to check this vid....WOW.

  • chairlife ride from hell!!!!

  • im actually a ski lift operator, and yes we saw a video similar to this. but there are MANY emergency brakes to prevent a thing like this from happening

  • i'm a chef mecanic for years at a ski hill and yes there is 2 sets of brake to avoid this but this is just a test to see what would really happen ...pretty crasy!!!

  • I ride the new Eskimo all the time at Winter Park. I miss center bar chair lifts. Winter Park still has a short one called "looking glass" but there are plans to replace it with the old timberline lift. I got a pass to Vail this year so I don't know if that change has already occurred or not.

  • it is very Crazy,it must be a test!!!

  • mind if I ask, I have seen this video before at my ski resort.. Mt snow, kind of odd to see it here but it awesome.. to see a lift rollback just not in real life

  • The old Eskimo lift. They also did numerous other tests before they removed the lift.

  • what chair lift is this in winter park?

  • Two guests were "terminally injured" in a roll back at my area. You're correct that it is unlikely. Some chairs wont roll back at all due to geography and brake systems, however this test, and the others not included in this clip are extremely relevant.... not to mention fun

  • i thought that a roll back never happend at least thats was what i was told when i was in my lut operator training... anyway... it looks deathly

  • I patrol at your area. About 1973 old Hyak had a rollback with a fully loaded lift (the old dinasauer on the left that has not run in 15 years). It rolled freely backwards about 300 to 500 feet. Several people were ejected. A few were badly injured, no one died. This is first person report. I was riding the lift on the back side . Lifts of that era had different rules and safety systems. Today multiple anti roll back systems prevent chairs from moving backwards .

  • I was mainly quoting one of the articles in my office. Chairs do roll back. Many chairs these days have excellent roll back systems. Many of the chairs at alpental have 3-4 separate break systems on very separate parts of the machine.

  • imagine a detached grip lift... stacking up at the bottom terminal.. I think I need a raise....

  • Stuff like this happens a lot more frequently then you would think, it's just a miracle nobody has been killed (except those poor bastards in Italy when the plane hit the cable and they plummeted a few hundred meters to their deaths) The dudes who work on these things are just ordinary shmucks who make less then the dumbass at jiffy lube, and your life is in their hands, just remember that. Happy Trails!

  • two people were killed in a roll back years ago. Not every chair rolls back because of geography, braking systems, etc. However this test, and the others not shown in this clip, are very relevant.

  • You know nothing

  • i worked as lift operaotr for 3 years and i can tell u thata there is nothing that u can do in thata situation but hit the stop button, the emergendy stop button and run as fast as u can... cause if that happend ... thatas it either u run or u r dead

  • i hate getting on chairlifts but MAN would that one suck

  • Breaking stuff rules! They should do this with all kinds of stuff! - Like, they could use a pitching machine to shoot baseballs through skyscraper windows. -Or they could drive a forklift through Ryan Seacrest's house while cranking up "The Great White Buffalo" by Ted Nugent. -Or they could, like, drive an icebreaker ship except across land and over the United States and drive down the streets of Milwaukee!

  • AMEN!!!!

  • Like the chances of this happening are slim to not really!

Think about the gondollas and how they would react in a test like this.

    Complete waste of time!

  • Actually,

There were at least 2 of these in NH this ski season, they were not anywhere near this serious, however they do happen... Just so you know.

  • Just another reason not to engage in an activity like skiing. This is just funny. Stupidity never seems to run out of steam.

  • From the lift's owner's point of view: Did

anyone think to pull the plug? Was anyone

standing near it? There's got to be some kind

of ultimate kill-switch manned. Who thinks of

conducting tests like this? The guys were just

asses, doing no prep work and watching like 20-ish chairs explode. Reminds me of the damn government. They put guys like that in charge of everything. Gotta love it

  • the guy that thought this test up awta be slaped and told of corse shit gonna roll down hill then strap hom on for his own test run

  • well, it's good they test it before they put it to use! it served a purpose, and was actually funny in the process!

  • Obama and Clinton, please take your seats.

  • Amen.

  • hell ya

  • way to break shit guys

  • Hang we're fixing to die!!!

  • what, why are they doing this?

  • Damn! that shit is crazy!

  • Bush you get to ride this special lift

  • hahahahaha, imagine being on that lol

  • Except you probably suck.

  • McFridge, you will be played by Will Farell in an upcoming movie about ski racers.

  • im a lift operator at greek peak in new york damn that would suk

  • haha whipple. his dream

  • My girlfriend told me about this, because I work in Lift Ops. Fucking freaky.

  • lift operators kick ass

  • I said "the lift is closed" bitches!!!! Now everyone off!!!!!!!

  • I had to watch this video for one of my ski area management classes in college. it was nuts the first time i saw it 3 years ago and it still freaks me out alittle bit.

  • crazy!
