The first thing this reminded me of was a Mc Breed song from the 90's,thats all I know about Flint.Damn this as bad as Detroit.Keep preppin and keep safe Bro.
it looks like Gary IN. the 1st time I went there I thought someone had nuked it and no one ever heard about it, all that was left was strip joint and liquor stores, and a KFC.
Very haunting and depressing. The residential "driveways to nowhere" quietly whisper of better times and the now silent lots bear stark contrast to a neighborhood once filled with playing children and families striving for a better life.
The utter decay of this east-side Flint neighborhood represents the putrefaction that is taking hold of many parts of the nation. We should take heed of this imagery.
Here are the 11 most dangerous cities in terms of crime risk: City Crime Risk Index 1. St. Louis 530 2. Atlanta 484 3. Birmingham Alabama (tie) 380 3. Orlando (tie) 380 5. Detroit 369 6. Memphis 361 7. Miami 346 8. Baltimore 339 9. Kansas City, Missouri 337 10. Minneapolis (tie) 331 10. Cleveland (tie) 331
Well fortunately a lot of the county isn't as bad as flint. My city of Seattle is doing fine. Still it is kind of sad to see, but there is a silver lining. Much like liquidating the bad loans this sort of thing needs to happen so the city can finally right it self in some way. Here's hoping that your city gets better sooner rather than later.
And empty lots are at least better than empty buildings right? I mean you might get more animals.
I can report that it isn't just Urban American infrastructure that is suffering. It is also rural infrastructure. Some 20% of the bridges in Minnesota are considered unsafe. Small towns are suffering: my own home town, a county seat, looks like it's in a long slow decline into a ghost town. The county population has decreased by over 20%. Very few businesses now compared to then. Rural crime is up. People are more desperate. In Canada, however, rural areas in southern MB look good.
Wish I had a video camera so I could film Bluefield WV & VA that used to be a busy coal rail yard and the towns used to be filled with businesses. Now, its practically vacant and falling down with houses and buildings. WV has a lot of ghost towns that were once booming coal towns. It's sad to see.
this country is quickly starting to look like a scene from a ww2 battle.this is very very sad to see.they are eroding this country like a decaying tooth.they put all this money into building up other countries and rebuilding countries we bombed but cant take care of our own infrastructure.we are done.
A lot of cities are starting to level abandoned houses now because they don't want the eye-sore nor the law suits from people who might get injured inside them and try to sue the city.
Another area identical to this is The Nations in the west side of Nashville,TN. Its all Hispanic and White and surrounded by abandoned industrial areas.
Well....those kind of streets are in just about a lot of cities....Chicago...southside, westside, northside and east.....people are moving away to other towns to live...
If that was a real hood you wouldn't be able to video tape . Street lights that take too long are called jack lights . People don't stop they keep moving.
Stop all foreign transfer payments to countries that hate us including Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. and use the money to rebuild America.
I worked in Detroit briefly in the 90's. I remember that there was a lot of corruption in the various levels of government especially the schools. The kids had an annual tradition (devil's night?) to burn houses and everything around them. It's no surprise to me that Detroit and the surrounding areas are devastated today.
Its the sad truth about whats going on in America today. I remember hurricane Andrew quite vividly and some of that reminds me of the aftermath. Its quite nausiating what our infrastructure has been reduced to.
The video says all we need to know about America 2012. >A man as big as a defensive tackle in professional football (6'2" & 300+ pounds) has a permit to carry a concealed firearms & packs a .45 pistol. (Nick is no pee-wee either)
You & Nick are smart-men, Demcad. Flint, MI is everywhere USA. This country is being destroyed on purpose by people making money on the destruction.
looks like Baltimore that place will freak you out they have abandoned hospital buildings houses burned up people walk around and are high and stoned all the time.
as im looking at your video, i've been noticing that around my neighborhood for a while now (within the last year). but its more with the small franchise businesses in the area. nobody is noticing where i live that all the big name fast food restaurants small independently owned franchises have just closed down. about 13 around my way closed down and left note that they relocated closer to manhatten.
Imagine that area of burnt out buildings and skeletons of buildings and magnify it by many times and you will start to get an idea of what at least 1/2 of philadelphia looks like. To give you an idea of just how many housing units are empty, philadelphia went from 2.5 million residents to 1.5 million residents and built 10's of thousands of new homes during that time (mostly in the NE). I could take you place in Philadelphia that would make you turn white (in fear)
reflection of the hearts of criminals and those who allow it to take place. this doesnt happen because people ae poor monetarily, it is because they are poor of heart and character. every iner city, the same thing thrives.
Good stuff, Demcad. I live south of you in Taylor, and although it pales in comparison to the heartache that is Flint, I am seeing the same devastation. It's more recent here but the abandoned homes and businesses are alarming. Up until the late 90's Taylor was on a rebound but it has all but vanished as the small manufacturing jobs here went over to China. I am simply amazed that most people refuse to blame Reagan era (and Democratic supported) policies for starting this alarming trend.
@DEMCAD Oh, yes, I agree. Clinton broke Glass Steagall and allowed the banksters to behave like spoiled kids raiding the cookie jar. His claims that NAFTA was already in motion and could not be ignored were a joke. I still remember the debate where Ross Perot told the audience that "the big sucking sound" you will hear will be jobs leaving the United States. The media laughed at him as if he were crazy. He wasn't.
@scifi75 There has been a push for "deregulation" ever since the Reagan years. Deregulation means getting rid of laws and rule that protect the public against the excesses of private business.
Just a few days after the 68' Riots in Washington D.C. my Parents went out with some friends and they took photos of burned down store fronts and department stores that resembled the footage you Guys took in this video.
@a10fjet I was born in the USA but I'm a Scandinavian American and, FWIW, I'm proud of it, just as anybody should be proud of their roots. Also if native Americans want to be called that, they have that right. Anybody who calls them "indians" doesn't quite realize they were never from India. Mutual respect is the name of the game, IMHO.
Thanks for the vid. The place I grew up is comletely gone too. It was a small community in Wyoming. It makes me so sad when I see the empty places....onward and upward.
Even thought Flint has gone through some very tough times the people are resiliant most other parts of America would have packed it in long ago. Some nice Tree lined streets there in Flint it could be a very nice place with some help and money from the Stingy Government!
Garden the lots ..seed bombs and fruit tree pits ,,let those local care and harvest ,,might even rebirth fellowship in the long run ..sad to see the lost dreams ,,I seen Flint in the 70's
Any chance you could video Cuthbertson street during daylight hours? I'm curious to see how my old neighborhood has faired since I was last there in 1996.
Man, this is sad! I wish they could clean up those buildings that fell down. Then, maybe try and modify those buildings that were standing to help keep the homeless warm and sheltered. Also, could they use those empty lots for gardens? If, residents would just work together and stop using drugs. Most people just don't care it seems. Good documentation, but still sad. Flint was a really great city years ago.
Big government over sight, Liberal Socialism, Unions gone a-rye and White flight have all caused to that mess.
Things must get worse before they get better, unless the Federal and State government is subsidizing the problem,,then things just go steadily down hill until you have what is Detroit. A hopeless pile of crap.
Yea, they trash the place and bring down the property values and then you get someone that comes in and buys up everything and moves out all the trash(people). You might say they are organized crime. They rebuild the area and make a killing off of it. This is what they plan on doing to the US. Trash the place. Buy up everything dirt cheap. Get rid of the trash(people). Then come in with a strong hand and rebuild under new leadership.
its not just flint demcad. i live in a town of less than 1000 and theres more than 10 houses just abandoned for over a year now. thats alot considering the population. ive never seen anything like it and neither have my great grandparents who still live here and did during the great depression.
how much are those homes near the college? are areas like that prone to crime from outside the community or within the community? Meaning, are people driving across town to rob other folks or is it mostly opportunity shady neighbors?
Well in truth people do need to be reminded of dire the situation is i curently live in Canada right now and it's very prominent here as well just not as severe but we haven't seen any signs of improvement whatsoever thx for the upolad and have a great new year.
Checked the area on Google Earth: Anyone tell me what the huge open area once was just west of where the footage was taken? West of I-475, Lieth St, Industrial Ave, E. Stewart Ave area?
@bas1563 That's the former site of the once highly industrious Buick City where Park Avenues, Lesabres, and Electras too name a few were built. Now the site of one of if not the largest brownfields in the world. Industrial city in decay.
Whomever dislikes on a DEMCAD vid must be one angry and lonely li'l troll!, P.S. thanks for the tour of Flint Reg. also I hope you put a link to Nicks channel, when I roll back up to the top of page I'm subbin.... lol PEACE
@vention4wh if you find out abt which city that is let me know too... Loved the message of the video but so dark. Hard to see. Reminded me of show One Day After Last Man. We all wil be homeless during the last days if we keep this up..
i think we should cover the whole city with cobwebs and pumpkin farms and turn it into the worlds largest haunted house(s). i think the white trash tourists will add alot to the local economy.
That's everyday America now...you can find that and worse in every region of the nation...the sad thing....is that no one in that community or those like it, have put two and two together and started using that infrastructure....most communities like that have railroad access, port access...access to major highways...creative and productive minds could take that over that infrastructure and right the ship....
say i wanted to spend up to $5000 US, would i get something in a fairly decent area over there? any suggestions? or wont i get anything for that kind of money? im checking ebay and i dont really know anything about the States.
@wesleytarbuck Try my area around Webster SD. I have bought houses and commercial buildings for under 5K. High standard of living and lots of jobs here. No crime, no traffic, 5 minute bike ride to industrial park.
@wesleytarbuck just stay out of this country we are about to crash and burn hardcore save your money and stay where your at LOL i live in New York Upstate Albany it is getting worst been here raise and born all my life for 27 years.Just stay away from America
@JamesJablonski2008 im about to crash and burn where i am myself, so im figuring out the best course of action to keep my assets from these banks etc. looking at asia, the US, philipines, india, even new zealand.
@wesleytarbuck its hard to say this but keep your money out of banks i keep my money in my closet very hard to not to spend it but banks will suck me dry of everything the whole world is in great danger of losing everything but not me no money in banks i am safe for now in till the prices go up.Upstate NY and Vermont and Maine is so what cheap.just look on craigslist or apartments or housing dot com
@wesleytarbuck If an area has been deserted in this country it is most likely in an undesirable area. Saying that you really have to research why it is undesirable. Mostly for No job and high poverty and crime rates. There are areas in Kansas City for instance that are just like this and full of empty homes and there is a group that is bringing back the neighborhood by urban farming. There is even a website on the internet that gives the crime in any given area of the US just give the address.
@wesleytarbuck ya avoid detroit, flint, and saginaw. i live 25 miles out and if you look into forclosures you should be able to do well right now, but unless you have to live in the city, go out a bit into a smaller village or town, i had a old fixer upper by my house that was 5bd room 3 car garage sell for 30k and a small 2bd room for 10k. but you have a 15mile drive to walmart, mejier, kmart, ect.
i lived in flint until about 5 years ago and it is crazy, they cant tear houses down fast enough. they should be repairing , not tearing them down. were you on Court street when the video started?
@DIJV79 Haha no doubt, from there to Riverside, ALL kinds of fucked up. I was working for real estate agents clearing out foreclosed homes up till '09...
Squatters taking shits in bathrooms that didn't have running water, rodent and roach infestations, "scrappers" ripping copper pipes straight out of the walls. The whole nine. I heard Lake Perris also started painting lawns green cuz of all the abandoned homes...
@itsthekush Yeah if your house is not locked and borded the crack heads will squat in there. Especially in the mountain areas like Crestline, houses there are now in the $30,000 range. Its just one big downward spiral and know one can stop it.
Good Vid Folks. Sidewalk looks real clean with bricks all over it. Very interesting on how the Dynamics change with a crumbling exterior. Happy New Year. Peace!!
its happening here too. someone or some group has been burning down old and empty homes around here. really annoying. they keep saying that the housing market is literally flooded with homes to choose from. what if they're destroying these homes to get them off the market so they can lower the list to choose from or something?
No offense, but even the most ghetto of ghetto people can see two suburban living people when they see one. They might even laugh at a gun, because ghetto of ghetto people can be soulless enough to use it.
The buildings around here have been empty for years. There is one 10 story building thats been empty for 5 years. But since more and more comrrcial buildings are empty.
I heard something about a city in that area was talking about cutting off utilities to whole sections of their city because the revenue from those areas was vastly exceeded by the expenses. Have you heard anything like that?
its really sad ...its ugly behind the curtian of Oz. ..Infrastructure decay, social decay...political decay ....and spiritual decay(not necessarily in the religious sense)...that the community will tollerate this is an indication that they have given up . not only have they abandoned the buildings they have abandoned their connection with each other....All is lost.

how much are those homes near the college? are areas like that prone to crime from outside the community or within the community? Meaning, are people driving across town to rob other folks or is it mostly opportunity shady neighbors?

I'm from Cleveland, Ohio and the '60s just wiped us out. The city itself never really recovered at all.

DEMCAD take some paper and open up a gun/survival shop. You would make a killing. Make sure you get bars on the windows.

Checked the area on Google Earth: Anyone tell me what the huge open area once was just west of where the footage was taken? West of I-475, Lieth St, Industrial Ave, E. Stewart Ave area?
bas1563 1 month ago
@bas1563 that was a Chevrolet plant, Chevy in the hole we used to call it, next to GMI.
MrLandphill 1 month ago
@bas1563 That's the former site of the once highly industrious Buick City where Park Avenues, Lesabres, and Electras too name a few were built. Now the site of one of if not the largest brownfields in the world. Industrial city in decay.

i think we should cover the whole city with cobwebs and pumpkin farms and turn it into the worlds largest haunted house(s). i think the white trash tourists will add alot to the local economy.

That's everyday America now...you can find that and worse in every region of the nation...the sad thing....is that no one in that community or those like it, have put two and two together and started using that infrastructure....most communities like that have railroad access, port access...access to major highways...creative and productive minds could take that over that infrastructure and right the ship....

wesleytarbuck 1 month ago
@wesleytarbuck I would avoid areas like Flint. I think you should research the culture and community of the area is most important.
DEMCAD 1 month ago 2
@wesleytarbuck Try my area around Webster SD. I have bought houses and commercial buildings for under 5K. High standard of living and lots of jobs here. No crime, no traffic, 5 minute bike ride to industrial park.

@wesleytarbuck You could get a really nice place for around a $1000 US from the land bank in Flint. Buy guns though. You will need them.

@wesleytarbuck do you mean in america or in flint
helpearthbounding 1 month ago
@wesleytarbuck If an area has been deserted in this country it is most likely in an undesirable area. Saying that you really have to research why it is undesirable. Mostly for No job and high poverty and crime rates. There are areas in Kansas City for instance that are just like this and full of empty homes and there is a group that is bringing back the neighborhood by urban farming. There is even a website on the internet that gives the crime in any given area of the US just give the address.
nagaempress 1 month ago
U will get a house in a war zone, not safe at night and questionable during the day.
If u can pack a gun, have an attack dog and security system,as well as bars on doors and windows, it might be ok.
But Basically, its like living in Urban S. Africa & the supply is endless, you wont make any money on it either, too much supply-4 years.
For $50-70k u can get a bank owned home in a decent suburb, much safer & nicer (Ohio,MI,FL).
Or buy land in the country-build or put on shipping container.

Prep4SurvivingMe 1 month ago
i lived in flint until about 5 years ago and it is crazy, they cant tear houses down fast enough. they should be repairing , not tearing them down. were you on Court street when the video started?
MrLandphill 1 month ago
This is just an abandoned neighborhood. If want to see ghetto just come to San Bernardino, Ca.
DIJV79 1 month ago
@DIJV79 Haha no doubt, from there to Riverside, ALL kinds of fucked up. I was working for real estate agents clearing out foreclosed homes up till '09...
Squatters taking shits in bathrooms that didn't have running water, rodent and roach infestations, "scrappers" ripping copper pipes straight out of the walls. The whole nine. I heard Lake Perris also started painting lawns green cuz of all the abandoned homes...
itsthekush 1 month ago
@itsthekush Yeah if your house is not locked and borded the crack heads will squat in there. Especially in the mountain areas like Crestline, houses there are now in the $30,000 range. Its just one big downward spiral and know one can stop it.

its happening here too. someone or some group has been burning down old and empty homes around here. really annoying. they keep saying that the housing market is literally flooded with homes to choose from. what if they're destroying these homes to get them off the market so they can lower the list to choose from or something?
SasieSpice 1 month ago
@SasieSpice That actually wouldn't surprise me.
DIJV79 1 month ago
No offense, but even the most ghetto of ghetto people can see two suburban living people when they see one. They might even laugh at a gun, because ghetto of ghetto people can be soulless enough to use it.
