  • rip umaga

  • JR was in WCW before so he Knows the stinger splash because in WCW there was STING

IDIOT .. and a black hole slam is a professional wrestling move so when any one in any god damn company do the black hole slam they say : THE BLACK HOLE SLAAM HE GOT HIM

    XD

  • @VanDamnator65 The move that umaga used is technically called a sidewalk slam, not a black hole slam, Abyss from TNA uses the sidewalk slam as a finisher and calls it the blackhole slam

  • I believe Sheldon wanted it to be called a "stinger splash" out of respect for Sting, I believe I read that somewhere once.

The funny thing about Umaga's move is it wasn't really even a black hole slam. If you want to get really technical with it, Abyss' black hole slam is actually a knock off of the bossman slam.

  • stinger splash = wcw

    Jim Ross = wcw comentator

  • ok black hole slam was originated by the Big Boss Man wasn't it? and he was wwf. And stinger splash is originally from wcw so I dont see anything from TNA lol

  • Also, Ross called more than a few Sting matches way back when, so the 'stinger splash' part might have been force of habit

  • He said pele kick too at Hell in a cell XD

  • @MrBeefaroo Dting owns the rights to the name that is why he is still able to use the names in TNA nice fail.

  • Black Hole Slam is Nothing more but a Inverted Spinning Sidewalk Slam....What Umaga did is Just a Simple Spinning Uranage Throw...

And The Turnburckle Splash Was a Spot Created By Steve "Sting" Borden...So That Is The Original Name...

  • we all know is a bossman slam really

  • Good to hear Ross respecting wrestlers who don't work for Vinces evil empire.

  • The Stinger Splash call could've easily been a holdover from his NWA/WCW days. Can't say the same thing regarding Black Hole Slam though.

  • hell jr and almost everybody else called that move stinger splash even from the beginning

  • I think the stinger splash is a better example. It's only ever been called that when sting does it, its one of his trademark moves. A black hole slam isn't specifically Abyss'.

  • jr was in wcw and so was sting

  • @ProphetEnigma1 and abyss was not.

  • JR likes wrestling. And I think there was one interview where me mentions TNA wrestlers cause he does watch TNA, cause it's the WWE's closest competitor. What's wrong with that?

  • You're all idiots^ that's not a black hole slam, that is a Gunnslinger performed by Billy Gunn.

  • You know they have guys sitting in the back telling the commentators what to say right? If it was anybody's fault, it wasn't JR's.

  • @ThePalmer1452 they have people prompting them sometimes, but not telling them what to say word for word

  • He could have gotten by saying black hole slam without many people noticing. But man, stinger splash? That's an announcing gaffe. It would be like saying "scorpion death lock" when Natalya does the sharpshooter. Sting is the icon. And WWE, WWF or whatever they want to call it, will never have him.

  • umaga actually did chris harris' catatonic finisher. wwe fans may know chris harris as the legendary king of wrestling, the hall of fame superstar braden walker.

  • dumbass thats whut they are called stinger splash is wut thatt splash is called nd umga called it the blackhole slam wayy before abyss did

  • Sting was in WCW before TNA ever existed. Lol....

  • It's called respect to the wrestler who popularized the move

  • Keep arguing but that shit looks better than anything Abyss has ever done. He is a mick foley wannabe who just makes me feel sad for him because he can't even get taken serious. Go back to Hulking up Abyss.

  • Victoria used to do that too even before Abyss, who cares.

  • That's because the name of that move really is the Stinger Splash...

  • Hmm, Wasn't the first one closer to a "Catatonic", you know the finisher "Wildcat" Chris Harris uses? looks more like that than Abyss's "Black Hole Slam". Stinger Splash was the proper name, but they'd probably just claim JR remembers WCW, something a lot of current WWE fans (least those they target), probably won't remember

  • JR has admitted before that he watches TNA. And why wouldn't he? He's a wrestling fan, he's completely unbiased.

  • What is TNA?

  • @5tatQuo You A Stupid Damn Kid

  • @Hyptocrite Learn sarcasm child, perhaps a bit of sentence structure as well. Irony is, you're the one calling me a kid.

  • @5tatQuo TNA? Are You A Wrestling Newbie? hUh? hmmmm, TNA - Total Non-Stop Action

  • @Hyptocrite You're an idiot. Plain and simple. Sarcasm " What is TNA?". What I meant was, who the fuck cares about a p.o.s. company like TNA? TNA is trash. The storylines are trash. The wrestling is trash. The wrestlers there are ONLY there because Vince McMahon doesn't have a place for them in the WWE. Either that or they were fucking up too much and had to be relocated. TNA should be renamed to Proving Grounds, because that's all it is.

  • @5tatQuo and i suppose your a wwE fan right and THAT is the furthest thing from pro wrestling that there is...btw to generalise is to be a fool...

  • @jayW817 TNA is farther away from wrestling than WWE is, people just like to think they like the show where wrestling "matters". Its all marketing and a work so you decide to play teams and like either one. so yea you are being worked by that faggot hogan, who only cares about money and getting himself more over with his "hulkamaniacs"

  • @phallictractor im not a tna fan or a wwE fan because they arent pro wrestling companys anymore i was stating that 5tatQuo is an idiot for saying tna wrestlers are shit. hello aj styles is the pwi #1 wrestler he can work wherever he wants to but i agree with you about hogan i knew he was bad news as soon as i heard the rumors he was coming to tna.

  • @5tatQuo Yeah WWE storylines are amazing hu? Like how they are all like oh I'm going to fire this person for a week maybe 2 or hes going to leave with the belt but be back the next week yeah those have me on the edge of my seat. The wrestlers are especially amazing in WWE all the heels beat the shit out of the faces the whole match and then the faces will get up do about 3 to 5 moves and win everytime. Yeah dude Jrs face isn't paralysed or whatever hes just bored.

  • benjamin has said he does the splash because of sting so jr saying it is understandable it doesnt mean he likes tna but im not saying he doesnt like it either. but there is a reason :P

  • Maybe He Said Fuck Cole's Slam

  • He says stinger splash cuz he commentated about 100 sting matches back in the 80's and then you get used to it..

  • @619stephan619 Not only that, but McMahon has a lot of respect for Sting, so mentioning the Stinger Splash is kind of his way of paying respect to Sting.

  • J.R. Watches TNA if he has time, and he comments about wrestling all the time and has always said he has respect for the company... so what is your point ?

Stinger splash for one is from way before TNA and has nothing to do with the company appart from the fact Sting is currently wrestling for the company.

Abyss has wrestled in Memphis wrestling before which is a company Jerry Lawler is very close 2 and I think still wrestles for so there are many reasons why J.R. would use the name for the move

  • Well in the case of the Stinger Splash, you could argue that was him remembering WCW...

In case of the "Black Hole Slam", which was actually a "Catatonic" you kind of have a point

  • Sting's been around longer than TNA.

  • the black hole slam is also the bossman slam

  • umm JR used to commentate for WCW in the late 80's when Sting was in his prime

  • He might just be an Abyss fan. That's more likely, because TNA doesn't have any real fans. Only their wrestlers have fans, despite the fact they work for TNA.

  • THe Point off this video is abyss cant do a black hole slam like umaga can. RIp UMAGA

  • seeing as Jim Ross used to do play by play in NWA/WCW, he had called alot of sting's matches from his formative years...

btw, you can watch a brand and not be a "fan" of the product...I think he has watched TNA purely to follow the careers of some of the people he had brought into WWE who had gone on to TNA

  • Who cares if he does? A true wrestling fan likes ALL kinds of wrestling

  • @guitarsbw AMEN! although WWE's kiiinnda killing it (thank god the Rock came back... sorta and tonight Stone Cold Steve Austin is coming too dude i hope they have a segment together!)

  • @guitarsbw tna isnt wrestleing its shit like your mommas face

  • @guitarsbw i agree why can't people get that through there heads?

  • At least JR tries to name the moves correctly unlike Cole who says, "Huge Move!". And calls every single submission CM Punk does an Anaconda Vice.

  • Huge coincidence right there.

  • he even said it on wm 25 when christian does the killswich

he said unprietier (that was his finisher called in tna

  • @abuteica It was also called the "unprettier" when he was in WWF before he went to TNA.

  • When Batista or Wade Barrett perform that move sometimes commentators calls it Black Hole Slam!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Both of these are some pretty good proof. Whether the Sting one is legit or not, Sting never wrestled in WWE so that's kind of something to behold on its own. The Black Hole Slam, though, that's just full proof.

  • Comment removed

  • I'd say the Stinger Splash is most likely from his old WCW/NWA days. But the Black Hole Slam JR? Busted!

  • IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT MOVE UMAGA IS ACTUALLY DOING!!!! the point is that j.r. is calling that move a name that is used in tna.

  • stinger splash was in the wwe

  • The stinger splash was started back in WCW but ok....

  • Matt Striker called barrett's bossman slam move a black hole slam last night at survivor series . :D

  • why does everyone hate Cole so much? I feel bad for the guy...sum1's gotta replace jr, ya know. besides, Cole isn't a horrible commentator

  • i miss jr, he made an often bad product watchable but michael cole made it unwatchable....just awful

  • @4817367 plus the clip is from a match that came before sting more or less debuted in 2006

  • they are just trying to steal heat from tna and claim these moves as their own.

  • @SweetWhiskerz the thing is in interveiws j.r. has said he has never seen tna in his life

  • what a stupid video.the black hole slam is a generic wrestling move name and was used even when abyss was in his diapers.

& stinger splash is associated with sting, who is so not a tna original, laughable

this is where wrestling fans have gone

  • Maybe he called it the Stinger splash because, I dunno, he watched Sting wrestle and commented on it when he worked for WCW??

  • that's not even a black hole slam...

  • @ryo7200 .. that's the point of the video, why in the hell would he even say black hole slam? & the other point is to get a lot of views.

  • @wrestlesite I think he said it as a way of insulting them. Saying "Hey, our guys can do that too only better". But idk.

  • I think it was more of a stab at Jeff/TNA since he was in TNA

  • I was at both of these events

  • Sting was doing stinger splash in wcw back in 1990-2001 jim ross work for wcw till 1993 so maybe that is why he said stinger splash.

  • Meh- Black hole slam Ill give ya....stinger splash. Lord knows Jim Ross probably said that a thousand times back in the NWA/WCW days.

  • First Move: You might have a point with that one.

Stinger Splash: Been around since WCW, which WWE owns, so they can freely use that.

You've probably heard that numerous times so...I don't know where that leaves us.

  • @4817367 Sting wasn't around in the late 70s lol.

  • @WCWite sting dittent invent the stinger splash

  • stinger splash = tutnbuckle splash

black hole slam = release powerslam

  • @TheXxsharpsxX yea the 'tutnbuckle' splash, i love that move & release powerslam? you mean sidewinder or scrapbuster? because Abyss' Black Hole Slam is nothing like the move Umaga did & no-one in WWE now or ever has had a move called the Black Hole Slam, ever.

  • @wrestlesite The stinger splash is something he could have picked up from the wcw days but you win with the blach hole slam

  • @wrestlesite actually is I think its called swing bottom

  • @chico0326 Umaga releases though without going to the ground then sets them flying. I donno people seem to go with the names the latest SD vs Raw games give moves since no commentators really name moves when they happen since JR went. Tenay & Tazz are the worst for it, all they do is crack unfunny sex jokes then talk a load of jiberish whilst the match is going on.

  • @wrestlesite But Tazz will randomly spend a good 45 seconds trying to come up with the name for a random submission hold, "He got him in a... Kujimarahuraharou twisting lock. no wait, it's the kimiharijuhariia hold." Meanwhile, the match has ended and a second match is taking place.

  • @wrestlesite I am sorry to disappoint but the Big Bossman had the Black hole slam as his finisher from 1989-94 as well as his return in later years as the Bossman Slam

  • @wrestlesite Abyss' black hole slam is very similar to the move Umaga did.... Now a dropkick, that would be nothing like a black hole slam.

  • @TheXxsharpsxX wrong black hole slam = spinning side slam

  • stinger splash is the official name

  • JR is a wrestling fan period. of course he likes TNA, he also like PWG, ROH, & any other organization. i think he is still a talent scout for WWE too if im not mistaken

  • @mrbighurt i believe he is actually a scout back in the day dont know bout now but he did find swagger

  • HAHAH

  • thats the name of that move idiots heidendriech used the same thing think guys think

  • @josue10540 no when he used it they just called it a sidewalk slam, and when it was used by batista, big daddy v and others in wwe, they call it sidewalk slam

  • Sting innovated the stinger splash. Its the name of the move and theres nothing anyone can do about it so thats what jr calls it. The black hole slam has the same problem.

  • JR was calling sting matches long befor he was even in wwe.

  • The Stinger Slash is a good example, is a signature of Sting :D

  • @SuperGolden10

The Stinger Splash was used by Sting, but the move name is actually that. It is from before Sting was even lacing up boots.

  • stinger splash ? i tht was stings move why cant they call it just the splash insted of the stinger splash cause thts sting move even though jr might watch tna u shouldnt steal names they should come up with there own

  • he used to announce for WCW back in the days, must have seen Sting perform the splash a million times, and yes he does watch TNA sometimes, he says so himself in his blogs...

  • lmfao

  • LOOOOL "ooh waht a black hole slam" and "but it paid off with a stinger slpash"

  • the names of these moves have been around for ages they didn't originate in tna.

  • JR worked for WCW

  • Now that's good observation!

    (then I read paulie0706's comment)

  • JR probably came up with the name stinger splash considering he was a main announcer in the early days of WCW..

  • jr did work 4 wcw back in the day

  • J.R does indeed watch TNA and he was around in WCW to see both of those moves used pretty often.

  • I'm still waiting that he calls the RKO Bubba Cutter!

  • ITs good Jim Ross knows this stuff sadly Michael Cole does not.

  • OMG!

    How thick are you???

Sting didn`t name that Move their trainers did

Even though its a trademark of WCW

  • lmao maybe he watch TNA

  • "I'm sure JR watched WCW back in the day and saw sting do that very move."

Since he was their main announcer he'll have called the move :o)

  • Comment removed

  • i know all this but i just wanted views.

  • he was a wcw announcer up until wrestlemania 9

  • @paulie0706 JR Worked for WCW when sting was there, which would explain the splash, and yeah JR Does watch the show, he's incharge of talent at the E so he has to see potential targets

  • @paulie0706 He was a WCW Announcer

  • @paulie0706

JR was in WCW when Sting was there using the Stinger Splash, and no-one in the WWE uses it as a special or regular move. So it was probably instinct for him to call it that.

  • @paulie0706 im sure he did commentary for WCW back in the day, when it was the NWA-WCW.. and saw Sting perform the stinger splash.

  • @paulie0706 J.R. was in WCW during Sting's initial run until 1993. Also, he mentioned how Shelton Benjamin credited being a fan of Sting and did the Splash as an homage.

  • @paulie0706 not to mention he used to work there and called a few sting matches himself

  • @paulie0706 JR use to work for WCW

  • OMG

this is more shocking then Jenna Jameson stopping to suck cocks.....oh wait

  • she stopped sucking cocks?! well who froze hell over?

  • stinger splash is the actual name for that move its technically different from a body splash

  • i agree it was petter with jr on raw

  • @DXHardyBoyzFan where is he now?

  • @sigkfred he could be coming back at Wrestlemania 26 or WWE NXT And he had some health problems

  • put JR on RAW.

put cole on smackdown with striker.

  • Dude,Stinger Splash is a technical name. Not a move named by Sting.

  • sting used to be in wwf/wcw so u cant say anything about that

  • @dx619andspear Used to be in WWF??

    NO HE DIDNT! LOL

Shelton Benjamin calls his splash the 'Stinger Splash' because he is a Sting mark. Thus the reason why a few of his moves are carbon copys of Stings.

  • agree, Sting was NEVER in WWE still.

  • @SuperJosh97 but Ross and Stinger were in WCW in the early 90's and the NWA in the 80's stinger splash back then

  • i heard that JR might be going to TNA

  • from where

  • he said it on his website but i highly doubt that he will go to TNA

  • nah will never happen wouldnt suprise me if he now retires

  • in TNA they speak about the legacy of wrestlers in WWE who transfered there,,

  • thats because nomatter what ppl will know about wwe and they're history there .......but vince thinks if he doesnt talk about tna then nobody will care about it

  • also, if Vince feels like it he can make a great match but he wants it to be Entertainment

  • Umaga died :(

  • yeah he did die on friday he had a heart attack he had a drug ovedose

  • that's always the reason for wrestlers deaths..

  • and i think j.r. is a fan of every promotion that's got a show.

  • @jed2j he's worked for alot of companies, WWE, WCW, several independent territories, but i don't think he'll go to TNA, it would be cool to have JR and Mike Tenay do commentary.

  • Comment removed

  • wwe can use the name "stinger splash" cause it was a wcw trademark.

  • this only proves that JR knows the names of the moves, idiot

  • this is what Jr Was Suppose To Say: (180° spinning side slam)

  • not really i was looking through out the svr2009 movesets and it says BLK Whole Slam

  • yea it doesn't say Black Hole Slam & it is a pinning side slam or a scrapbuster but Abyss redonte the move & renamed it in TNA

  • it doesn't matter svr 2009 has a bunch of false names for moves look it up on wikipedia put in abyss it will say the right one

  • i know but the real move is called BLK Whole Slam

abyss just renamed it black hole slam

    cuz do you get it-

Abyss-Bottom less hole:now the finisher- Black hole

    get it?

  • No, the name they have in Sd vs RAw is just so they can put a move in & because the black hole slam name belongs to TNA they can't put it in, like how the Styles Clash is the Landing Pin & when Christian was in TNA they changed the name of the Killswitch/Unprettier,als the BLK slam is only in CAF mode, & it isnt the black hole slam.

  • the offical name is the 180,360,or a 540 spinning sideslam and i always knew that abyss black hole i know

  • i meant to reply to that other guy

  • i replied to you? sorry tried to reply to him to

  • this is gettting confusing lol

  • lol
